I think back to 5-3-2/3-5-2 until we hit a solid run of form. The current issue is the third CB in that formation, seeing as we only really have two fully fit CBs. I'd rather us have played Roeslev at RCB as his passing and movement is very decent.

Watching the Mee-Jansson-Raya passing triangle yesterday was painful yesterday and was a bit part of our poor first half.

In both away games, two of our three CMs have really struggled in a 4-3-3, and we've had so little control of the game until switching to three at the back.

Anyone know what time Thomas' press conference is scheduled for?

Thomas Frank

Sky says coming up after 1.30 pm today along with a few others.

My take:
*Warning! Conjecture ahead!*

1. Thomas has been slightly irked by Halil's camp powering the rumor mill again

2. KLP is lined up for a start in place of Wissa tomorrow

3. TF is captain of the MJ cult

Can someone explain why, when we take a corner, we waste an attacking player in goalmouth area by having him just standing next to the corner taker.

Because it takes one of their defenders out of the goalmouth area. Plus we nearly scored from one short corner routine.

Because it draws an opposition player or 2 out of the area to cover which creates space for the better headers to attack

I thought he said KLP has to be " layered " a bit more yet ?

I’m still intrigued what this present Phil is gonna give him lol

Against Everton it was notable they didn’t leave anyone up when defending corners because of this. That then meant Rico could loiter at the edge of the box rather than at halfway.

For our winner at Watford, Mbeumo seemed to be standing in a bizarre place but it drew a Watford player with him that played everyone waiting to attack the cross onside.

Changed the game again with his subs. But please can we stop going down a goal every time.

Thomas Frank

Just saw his post match interview, pretty honest. He enjoyed the game between 2 top half teams, felt we just shaded first half, was extremely complimentary about Zaha’s goal. Said he changed personnel and system which created our goal and admitted that we should have scored one of the 2 late chances.

Thomas Frank

Do feel he perhaps should have changed things earlier. Baptiste looked shot and prob would have been backing up Hickey earlier in the game when Zaha scored. We'd got quite sloppy with the ball and weren't getting back in numbers like we had been earlier. Their goal didn't really come as a surprise at that point. Still, it felt like we wouldn't get back into it then and his second set of subs really gave us the momentum to come back and almost win it at the death.

Thomas Frank

His post match interview was spot on. Leeds marginally had the better half without creating much and we need to be better on the ball in the second half. Our offensive play is frightening this year and improved two fold from last year.

I say the same comments about 20 times a season.

The best manager we have ever had. The vultures will be circling.

Just have a little think on his achievements since he has been here.

I'm not convinced they're circling as he's not a 'sexy' enough name from a highly rated nation (Spain/Portugal/Italy/France/Germany) or from Home Countries ... but they really should be circling

Any other English club will know how embedded and invested he is in Brentford. It would take a lot to attract him away, probably only a National position...

Only really for Denmark, and probably not even then, as that would implicitly mean that Hjulmand would get sacked or resign, and they're very good friends

Huge credit to him and his team - we are VERY well prepared and operating at a high level tactically. It's all a bit clever for me but he is clearly wringing almost everything possible out of this great collection of lads.

Only 18 months since i identified him as the weak link as our promotion campaign stumbled with those 3 defeats in a row... finger on the pulse there ?‍♂️

(I better tag @davido_i so that he can ensure i serve appropriate penance at the next PBSA summit)

I wouldn’t be shocked if Liverpool have an eye on him to succeed Klopp in a few years

Thomas Frank

I am casting slightly anxious glances at Leicester and Aston Villa, as you would think TF would be high on both of their lists when the inevitable happens with their current coaches.

Leicester may once have been attractive but seem to have lost some behind the scenes expertise and possibly some crucial funding from the ownership. Villa have some good players and are a big club, and TF has an existing relationship with their DOF. However they have spent beyond their means and may be in for a difficult few years of belt tightening.

You beat me to it, I agree Liverpool could come calling when Klopp moves on, if Thomas hasn't already been identified within the committee rooms there. They have a similar model to ourselves, and his coaching and personality would suit Liverpool.

Can’t see him going to Leicester and Villa’s willingness to dispose of managers at the first hint of poor form would probably put him off going there.

I suspect it would take the opportunity to test himself in the CL for him to consider moving on.

Doesn't strike me as a greedy man.
Then again, I thought the same about CE at one point.

But no, this is entirely different. I'm sure he values job security very highly, which he wouldn't get elsewhere.

5 year contract on 5 times the money. I would.

And I'm sure MB would counter that with an improved contract to stay at a club where he never needs to worry that after 3 losses in a row his job is on the line.
Not having that pressure surely makes up for less wages.

Why are you sure? Didn't with Uwe, Didn't with Carsely, Didn't with Dean. Didn't with Eriksen. Won't with Toney. Won't with Frank.

It's not how we work.

Just jumping in!

Not going to pretend I'm sure, but MB has continually increased the amount of cash he's prepared to spend and pay wages to, top players. Why wouldn't he do the same for a top manager? He was prepared to break the bank for Eriksen.

At the very least, I would think a much improved offer would come TF's way if it looked like other mid-table sides were trying to poach. We offer improved contracts to our best playing staff to keep them here and safeguard our investment if someone else wants them. Why would you do different with the manager?

Our mantra is replace good with better. To get better than TF I would imagine would cost £££££s, so within reason, it's worth shelling out a bit more to keep him. Now if a CL club came in for him, that's a different matter.

Rosler, Carsley, Smith didn‘t exactly achieve significantly here … they just kept things ticking along. None of them would have taken the club to the next level and were worth investing further in, and I’m sure MB was fully aware of that.

What pressure!! They sack him he gets paid out his contract. Wish I could get such favourable terms going to work knowing no matter how sh*t I job I did my financial security was assured
