TITS Issue 86

Hate to disagree with you Benn - but I think Nick/Rich have produced a piece that sums up the feelings of many (I almost said most) true fans. For myself, I'm too long in the tooth to worry about winning or losing - to me, football is (or should be) a sport - and our club has lost that sportsmanship feel it always had. TITS has, I believe, dared voice the true feeling of the real fans who've been with the club through all the bad times - not the thousands who've jumped on the bandwagon once winning - and making a profit - were the ONLY things that mattered.

Don't speak on my behalf please. I'm with Bill.

Not too many agreeing with you.
We must all be Johnny-come-latelys then.

I am Spartacus....

In all seriousness Larry why do you think we've lost our "sportsmanship feel"? I am not being lairy but surely we have to accept that change under Mr Benham was as inevitable as night following day? You can't donate(invest) the sums of money the man has without building the club in the likeness you want can you?

Every time MB has come on here and answered questions he comes across as someone with red and white stripes through his core....he doesn't talk marketing bulls*&$"£ but just wants to give his(our) club a chance to enjoy something we may never see again in our lifetime which is a Bees side playing football the 'right' way with good players and in a decent environment....really what's not to like?

TITS Issue 86

When did I say that? Panning everything since Jan, you were part of that and people see through your words, support the team, forget the past mate, stop pretending and join the party.

When did I say that. Re read your own post then my reply and your an intelligent man the penny might drop.

Then let's have a look at the rest of your post;

"Panning everything since Jan" Really take a trawl through my posts and substantiate that?
"People see through my words" I say exactly what I mean as I assume you do the same. Unlike some I have no other agenda and only my own opinion.
Support the team Who exactly are you to question my support of the team, personally think you're overstepping the mark a bit there as you've done on several occasions but I won't be waiting for an apology from you. As much as I've disagreed with some of your views I've never questioned your support, kindly afford me the same courtesy.
Forget the past mate You're right I never have got over Uwe's scandalous treatment of Mike Grella. If you're referring to Warburton I suggest you take a trawl over to the Warburton thread and see my response to Kettering Bee on the same issue - never got a response to that either.
Stop pretending and join the party Sorry what am I pretending about and which Party would that be that I need to join Northampton. Care to expand upon that and explain which Party I'm missing or should be joining? I'm a Bees fan and that's the only party I've got any interested in joining.

Yeah righto, you search this place for any mention of Warbs and off you go, it's actually funny and very sweet, nobody can say anything without the Warbs' private policeman piling in, he's gone mate, let it go, the party I refer to is that the one that just wants to follow Brentford but if you think that is based up here then so be it, you add whatever swing you want to my words, I don't really care. You pretend not to have a pop at me and act like a victim, you're always having a pop, an annoying wasp that has been a pain since Feb.
Feel free to have the last word without having a pop, I doubt you'll be able to do that, "the penny will drop" isn't a pop, is it?

Okay you can't substantiate any of the stuff you've posted about me then thanks for clarifying that. By the way what qualifies me as "Warbs private policeman"? or just another one of your cheap shots that you keep telling me you never resort to?

Really must be sad when you think everyone is having a pop at you.... what was it last time I disagreed with you oh that's it the entire GPG cricket team has a vendetta against you because Salford Bee and you were both vying for who could spit the bigger dummy out at a friendly cricket match three years ago, then we had the public accusations that some bloke left you in the lurch god knows how many years ago when he didn't have a clue about what you were talking about ..... See a pattern emerging now and I'm the one acting like a 'victim?'.

Whilst we're at it why don't you come clean about your ITK source within the club which you pass off as your 'Own opinion'. Like I said to you a long time ago things told to you in confidence should remain so unless their is some other agenda you would care to go public with on here and stop the BS and innuendo. It is after all a Forum for everyone's opinion isn't it not just you and those agree with you.

Like I said I disagree with you fundamentally on a number of points and always will but hey my shoulders are broad enough to live with that and you should just accept that not everyone sees the world and Brentford F.C as you do. Just do me a favour like I said don't question my support for this club because you've got no right to and never will have and as much as I disagree with you the one thing I wouldn't do is question yours - or anyone else's- support for the club.

TITS Issue 86

I have my own opinion even if I receive any itk stuff, it is possible you know, Salford ruined it a second and last time but you missed the first one, Jim Levack was funny, he got a lift in that car, sorry that I thought he was the driver but he accepts it too. This is boring for everyone, it's boring for me but you lot think my hands are tied, that makes me laugh, keep believing it.

TITS Issue 86

It does get my back up when some fans bemoan the way we are set up as a club and use it to justify our failures and then suggest we have changed tack now that we are having some success. Nothing has changed in how we do our business it's just different personnel this season

Pipe, this sentence pretty much sums everything up for me.

As far as I can see, and based on things I hear from those whom I trust, there is nothing that is fundamentally different now to what was happening at the beginning of the season nor dare I say last season.

The one big failure was the appointment of the wrong new manager. That could happen regardless of how much emphasis a club places on 'stats' or not. In some people's opinion it seemed that the poor start was all down to the sh1t 'stats' approach and MB messing it all up with the appointment of the new DOF's and getting rid of Warbs.

I believe the reality is we simply appointed the wrong manager which didn't help on top of the turnover of players, which was further compounded by the injury list. Our problems were never down to MB and Stats, simply down to the wrong manager and amount of new untried players who had to get thrown in the deep end too early.

Now we 'appear' to have the right manager, players returning from injury, and new players settling down and getting used to the Championship all appears well. Again this has nothing to do with MB and the 'stats'!!!!

TITS Issue 86

keep to the threads lads x

Yes you're right but he started it Sir honestly:cry:

Seriously though life is too short and we've won three on the bounce including beating the Pooper Scoopers so it is all a bit daft. I've said my bit and now I'll shut up...........for a bit anyway;)

TITS Issue 86

Despite being in Glasgow I still feel like a real true fan and I f***ing love the numbers game, I am a real true geek too :)

TITS Issue 86

TITS 'Warburtoned' me. My job was given to another cos I do not share their fears. :(

The Edlines and the following article weren't nice reads - esp. the reference to Noades  - but they are Nick and Rich's opinions. Seems like they're very angry still. :(

Fair ****s to TITS, though. The article by anon was very good and gave a completely contrasting viewpoint. :hat:

Good articles about the cost of football, the London to Amsterdam bike ride, the last Fan's Forum and Ryan Woods. :sorted:

I have bought TITS since it started, and will continue to do so.

I do miss my job though...

Maybe but it didn't feel like it, there again we weren't one nil down with 10 minutes to go and didn't get a last gasp equaliser coming off Clint Hill's under carriage to make it 2-1, it feels good beating either but I still will poo myself more at the thought of losing to Putney.:D

"Banana was standing next to an intelligent, handsome playboy?"

There are at least three large "errors" in this disparaging sentence:

"'In fairness at least he didn't try and quote 'Oscar Wilde' to us as one lemon (or banana) did later on in the evening, "to lose one pitch may be regarded as misfortune; to lose all three looks like carelessness." He must have been preparing that one for days but it didn't translate into Danish or Dutch and we rather embarrassingly moved on... not sure it won the award of 'Question of the night' but a valid enquiry as to the state of the pitches at Griffin Park and Jersey Road but too cryptic that Peter Gilham had to explain it to everyone.'"

If that is representative of the rest of the fanzine then no wonder people are staggered as to Nick's take on events. If he can't report accurately what was available for replay on youtube then god help him

TITS Issue 86

I would suggest that "You lot" means the people who struggled with the Jan goings on, kept that going for the end of last season, wouldn't keep off the subject all summer whilst suggesting we were fecked and at the very first sign of trouble made the noises about last season and how they wanted it all back. I had hoped and expected to be top all season but alas it wasn't to be but moaning about everything including going for the DoFs was just rubbish, the DoFs might well be a pair of duds but what evidence have we all got to suggest this and bearing in mind the early stage of their time with us. It isn't about differing opinions but lose a few games and slagging the whole concept off was plain weird, even the Rotherham home thread was all about last season for a few pages, I'm actually as frustrated with our own fans as anything that has gone wrong at BFC, we had/have too many Cottees amongst us.

I would have to agree with this. I can understand our newest fans frustrations because most of them know no better, and they have only seen us as a very good side. But our older supporters that should have known better, to be honest I was ashamed of them.I would also agree with the( " I pay my money I will say what I like view) this was almost radical and talk about kick a man when he was down. I know the sort of posters on this board that I would be happy to be in the trenches with.

Maybe we should take note of another Oscar Wilde quote then;

There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.

Anyway, are they still telling everyone that they're banned from the GPG. They're not of course.

TITS Issue 86

All I can say is well done the Hester brothers, not because I agree with all they wrote but that they have produced yet another fanzine that has got people talking. Isn't that why fanzines(and now blogs) were first produced?
As far as the articles, I believe they have raised some , in my opinion, valid thoughts, particularly the current DoF's and the weakness in our PR particularly our Chairman. This doesn't make them any less a supporter as ANY of us.
Concerned about some undertones regarding MB but others on here have questioned his long term aims and this is a more high profile public domain than a fanzine.
Bill started the thread to discuss Nick and Rich's comments but as usual on GPG it has sadly turned into private spats being aired in public.
From my view point MB is still the best thing to have happened to BFC but as supporters we do need to remember it is our club and not his toy.

TITS Issue 86

Timing was unfortunate for TITS. But, having read TITS over many years, I was a bit surprised to read the negativity in the “Home Truths” article, knowing how committed Rich & Nick are to the Bees.

The Club certainly made mistakes but have acknowledged most of them and have taken/ are taking steps to correct them. And having chalked up nigh on 60 years as a Bee, I’ve experienced far darker days than the last few months.

Yes the people at GP, on the train etc with whom I discuss Bees matters were concerned about the poor start to the season, the pitch, the poor PR, the time it seemed to be taking new signings to show, the injury list etc but the TITS article was far beyond that in negativity. So from my experience the "Home Truths" article was way over the top and I’d say did not reflect the views of most of the Bees I talk to.
Mind you, most of them are old gits like me. Most of us were depressed about things after the Brum match but we’ve seen far darker days over the years. And I’m still optimistic about the future of the club that looks rosier than I can remember.

However, we’re all entitled to our opinions and I always enjoy reading TITS, so do keep it going, lads. There’s always some things I agree with and others I disagree with in each issue. And it’s stimulated a bit of discussion !!!

Looking forward to the next issue.

TITS Issue 86

I knew TITS was going to go down hill when they started being chummy with our old friend Toby on Twitter...

ChinaBee is right it's got people talking and they are more than entitled to their opinion. Beesotted have really got the online market share though with the vlogs, podcast, exclusive videos, ITK scoops etc, and not a sign of a printed fanzine these days if I am not mistaken? You have to hand it to them for the time and effort they put in, I bet it is great for those fans abroad to get a real sense of the fans feelings week to week. But TITS is still valid IMO and I will always buy it if I have cash on me. I don't know the Hester Brothers but they are a good laugh when you see them selling the fanzines. Sometimes it is healthy to get a sense of someone's else perspective, despite however much you may disagree.

That is a load of old poop, we're a professional club and always have been, you try telling the players its not about winning, you donut!

I like Nick and Rich but it's time to park the negatives, mistakes have been made re the choice of manager and performances in most of the first 8 or 9 games and in fairness the owner has been honest in admitting.

We're still rubbish at Marketing and the PR of this fantastic club but we always have been, long before the latest regime so lets not lay that at his door.

I have dreamt Of Championship football for all but three of the last 47 seasons let alone The Premiership and you aren't speaking for many who seek an amateur side with Corinthian Casuals or Wilsons sporting attitude. That was several generations ago when you left your back door open and life was wonderful, despite what I've read about World Wars, TB, The Depression, Rickets and Rolf Harris.

China I think that you have the point spot on. Many of the people on this thread ( I do not know any of them ) have put a life time into the club in their own way. During the darkest of the day's many knew a lot of what was happening with the club and worked without a second thought to save the club, there have been enough examples since the 60's but all have or will leave their mark and many have worked together for the benefit of the club. MB now does things his own way and there does not seem to be anywhere the same amount if information supplied to the supports. It is a shame that this seems to lead to the supporters infighting at times.

A guy I know has just clocked up 40 years for the same company. After this service period people have been richly rewarded. The company was taken over less than a year a go and he has just been rewarded with a paperweight, he is devastated. The new owners have done nothing wrong but they have missed a trick.

Bessotted are very good indeed. They take a magazine approach and hand over the content to those that contribute. I'm sure that stuff they don't like is likely edited out but you do seem to get a more rounded view in the pieces they produce. It feels to me like they are providing a platform rather than giving a narrow opinion piece. I don't personally take much notice of the views of one or two individuals - it's better to hear many views and sift through it all to find the reality.

I find that a slightly strange comment. Before the days of multi channel news, we would hear very, very little other than one or two official channels - programme, club call etc. There was very little. I think the problem now is that every one is guessing, there is more rumour and innuendo but because of the lack of validation, people get the feeling they're not being told anything. In my opinion, we get told more than before because of the nature of communication these days but the unsolicited commentary behind it is huge and causes confusion. I don't know any club that would comment on most of the stuff posted on social media.

Were we really being told by good old Ron and Dave Webb what was going on at the club? Did we hear exactly why Martin Lange knocked down the Oak? Of course not.

Just read the 'Home Truths' article myself. Jees, I know the boys are passionate, but ouch, some of the language such as 'Regime' running our club etc is spikey to say the least.

I hope the last two weeks have proved them wrong quite frankly. As I've said before MB is not beyond feedback and to be fair he's admitted mistakes have been made. I do believe some of their 'criticism' though feels like it has a personal edge/agenda to it which seems to be justified by the 'were proud to be independent' and therefore speak our minds.

They ain't great at dishing out old issues of their fanzine. I've been on at Dave for months about getting me some issues missed whilst I was out in the US !
I think we are fortunate to have 2 good contrasting fanzines produced regularly and Nick and Rich do a great job putting money back into the club from their sales.

TITS Issue 86

My point was by quoting them to support their view was poor to say the least.I have known Rich and Nick for many years so I know how red and white they are although I hear Nick is going a bit pink .... Only rumours mind.

i thought they were both qpr ??????? lol

unfortunately its completely out of date with whats happened in the last 2 weeks.......weve turned the corner and moved on......if we;d have lost to rotherham it probably would be more relevant but that game was the biggest of the season for many reasons and we won it.,,,,,losing it would have plunged the club into crisis but that didnt happen so its all a bit passe now,,,,,,,nick and rich are good blokes and thats their opinion,,,,,weve all got opinions and its nice to hear a mixture of them.....some on here dont like different opinions to their own but thats life lol i might go into the snug if this carrys on

Really? I stopped buying/reading it a while back as I felt it was getting more and more negative towards the club despite our upwards trajectory. I suppose the more mature response would be to submit an article pointing out where I felt they were wrong and I'm pretty certain if the article was worth printing they would allow it in, to be fair to them.

It would be a real shame if either of the fanzines were to jack it in, whether I agree with their viewpoints or not.
