Quick look at train times and fares to Liverpool on August 9th.

Depart Euston 8.40 am Arrive Liverpool 12.05
Depart Liverpool 18.32 Arrive Euston 22.05

Fare = £19 .... not bad, eh?

How do you get to Tranmere from Liverpool station?

Lets just hope Everton aren't at home to Villa that day

Anyone know what the nearest station to Prenton Park is called?

No cos we got off at the wrong one last season and had to walk about a mile!!

I believe you can get a train to Birkenhead Central which is only a 5min journey on the train from Liverpool

I've booked on the 8.40 from Euston and the 18.32 from Liverpool. Will have to sort out travel from/to Lime Street when I arrive!

Tranmere by train

If you try to book through to Birkenhead, the £19 fare isn't available. But it's only £1.35 return from Lime St to Birkenhead Central - so best to buy that ticket on arrival in Liverpool.

Birkenhead Central : 1.3 miles away

Rock Ferry Station : 1.1 miles away but no buses available.

he asked for the nearest station, not the one that you wrongly got off lol lol

If you read my response properly smart ass I said that I didn't know because I got off at the wrong one last year! Jeez!!

I think Birkenhead central was the one I got off at last year so it may well be Rock Ferry!

Dunno but it seemed a very long way from Birkenhead central to Prenton Park last year!!

But not nearly as far as from Cheltenham's ground to the station.

Am I the only one driving to this game?

Am I really going to get my wheels nicked?

8 tickets booked on the 8.40, a bit late but it's gonna be a long season.

£19 each, can't complain.

Bets bet when you get to Lime Street is to get the Metro trains to Rock Ferry. It's a 15 minute walk or so from there. Think a ticket is about £2.

Don't know about Birkenhead station as I've never been that way.

Or you could get the Ferry across the Mersey :D

Can i ask where you have booked your tickets through?

Tranmere by train

If anyone wants to save £1 there are group tickets available.

On the 6.40 up only though. It works out as £18 each instead of £19.

For those of you nearer Reading than London.....

You can buy single tickets on young persons rail card from Reading to Liverpool and similarly the return journey at several times but for example :

Depart Reading 06.55 (no changes) - arrives Lime street 10.54

Depart Lime Street 18.04 (no changes) - arrives Reading 21.20

Price - £7.25 each way - £14.50 rtn :)

Anyone likely to do this?

Tickets exist as of typing this.

I know that it will be a very long and boring trip both ways. And that it will almost certainly cost more than £19.

As per Bee H I'm 'Scrappy' the Hammer.

We are apparently going to get 3,000 tickets for Preston and alot are going to hit Blackpool for the weekend! Therefore, book up early if any of you lot are going to Blackpool cos most WHU are waiting for Sky to muck around with the fixtures before booking anything there.

Whatever happens, Irons & Bees will be on tour in Blackpool!

Sorted, on the 8.40 with everyone else. Me, the old man, Roy & Andy Mutton. Could've been tempted for Blackpool shenanigans but my plan to recoup funds during the close season has gone disastrously wrong & I'm every bit as skint as I was at the end of last year :(

S'funny innit, I've really been enjoying the last few saturdays off, relaxing in the garden or down the boozer, topping up the tan & not having to worry about getting up at 5.30 to travel 250 miles just to watch us get stuffed but now that the fixtures are out I can't wait for the close season to end.

Wonder how far I'll get into the Tranmere game before I start looking forward to the close season again......

guess i cant make it up there then as im not going with coffin dodgers/families on my own (coach) and theres no way i can go to liverpool by train alone!
