we got smith and hutch in midfield and obviously someone else im guessing hunt.
Why not play tabb hes tipped for stardom by everyone but hes being left on the bench?

Hutch is in as Evans is injured. It must be that Tabb and Hunt in centre mid with only Smith as cover for defence would be too attacking away from home.

5-4-1 maybe?

Use Beadle up on his own, and then depending what the score is later on in the game bring Peters on when the Tranmere defenders are tired. It looks like Wally will try to make the Defence and Midfield are covered well. To play Wingbacks on such a hot day would not be a wise idea so I reckon it must be 5-4-1. Wally did say he had something up his sleeve, so maybe suprising Tranmere in the second half with the introduction of Peters and Tabb. As post above say we will probably have a more attacking team at home - but no one wants to go for it in the first game on such a hot day and then lose by 3/4/5 and then see morale dip before the season has really kicked in.

According to the Radio Merseyside chap it was an elbow.

Usual biased commentary but he admits the Tranmere player was pushing back.

Initial thoughts were: "oh no, Hutch" and "why leave out the two players who give you faith we might score", but thank god for 5 at the back, praise the lord for Somner not at LB, and I can sort of see the game plan of pack the defence and hold them out, and maybe bring on Tabb and or Peters to nick one.

Course game plan goes out of window with Beadle sent off - defend at all costs now I suppose.

If its violent conduct then he'll be suspended for most of his months' contract won't he! (my mate's text message described him as having been sent off 'for being elbowed' so don't jump to conclusions too quickly!)

My mate at the game reckons the sending off was deserved but the Tranmere player should have gone as well.

We'll do well to get anything from this one now.

Cant get any commentaries to work on Match Live so tried the inferior Audio Commentary sectoin and it works at bloody last just in time to hear us go down 1-0

Im wondering looking how the team list is set out if we are playing 5-2-3??!! (seved Lincoln well last season, not)

can't think that the last few weeks have been a preperation for an opening day that sees two of the most talented players at the club on the bench

i can't imagine what wally's reasoning is but i hope he's not going to leave it until we're three down before bringing tabb and peters on

even down to ten men we're still in the game

You'll have to ask our esteemed manager that Moribee but I suspect it is as follows;

a) Hutch - to save on the laundry bill
b) Peters - he doesn't like him much
c) Tabb - sees him more as a supersub especially useful tactics when we're 4-0 down.
