Taking the 10.40 from Staines to Waterloo then Jubilee Line to Stratford - getting into Stratford
at 11.55

Is that sensible or is there a more efficient way ?

Paul.

I'm avoiding central London as its more expensive (Zone 1). I'm also going to Hackney Wick (on what used to called the North London Line) from Gunnersbury but you can also connect with line from Ricmond as well. But it's quicker via Waterloo by tube to Stratford.

Hackney Wick is supposed to better for away fans with drinks/food options than Stratford.

You could go Staines to Vauxhall and then get the Victoria Line to Kings Cross St Pancras, and then get a Southeastern train to Stratford (6 mins). It’d get you there ten mins quicker, but obviously entails a couple of changes whereas using the Jubilee Line is straightforward.

Last week I did Hatton Cross to Caledonian Road , then 7 minute walk to Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station then 5 stops to Hackney Wick around 70 mins in total

Cherts to Staines…Staines to rich….rich to Hackney wick…almost 2 hours door to door and that’s the quickest way !!! I hate east London lol ??

Ha. I hate East London for many reasons but it once took me 2.5 hours to drive from West to East London. On average it has always been over a hour and the most frustrating drive always.

Reminds me of the time I went to a stag in Ibiza in 2014. Outbound flight from Heathrow no issue but inward flight landed at City Airport. After 4 days of drinking and partying was in no mood to take public transport so called an Uber. Uber wasn't as popular then than it is now but took longer to take me back from City Airport to then Chiswick than the flight from Ibiza to City Airport. To this date the most costly Uber fare I ever paid and never ever been to City Airport since. Thank the lord the third runway wasn't selected for City airport/ East Side

For all Kentish Bees and those living South East of the river - I was recommended by a Kentish Hammer to drive from Tunbridge Wells to Ebbsfleet Intl on M25 - then 12 mins direct to Stratford International!

LCY is good for one thing only. Canary Wharf.

However, I had the pleasure of flying into and out of there for NYC twice a month for about 15 months.

Driving up from Somerset to Nans house new Kew Tube and hop on there straight to HW. Seems best option for me. No changes just under hour on overground.

Road closures, train cancellations etc!

Will probably just end up driving tomorrow from Langley on M25 unless anyone knows a straight forward way of doing it on public transport

I love LCY but I'm biased.

I can leave my house, get the bus, have a fag outside the airport, get through security and be sat at the bar having a beer in 60 minutes, average, the best my wife and I have done is 45 minutes from home to airport bar.

Great flying back into London too.

I'm doing similar but from Virginia Water and only one change at Richmond. I noticed it's cheaper if you get a return to Richmond and then contactless for the second leg rather than booking straight through. Free parking at VW so journey including parking is cheaper than a home game on Saturday - just a bit longer.

1hr 20min drive from Chertsey .. surprisingly nice and easy and a free car park from Just Park! ??

25 minute drive and park from Ruislip to Chiswick. Parked in the nearest side road to Gunnersbury Station which was free on Sunday. 5 minute wait for a train. 50 minutes to Hackney Wick. Met WH friends in The Tank micro brewery at 12.15. Easy journey with only the last couple of stops crowded. Return journey just as smooth. Thoroughly recommend that route as an alternative to the Central Line and didn't have to touch Stratford Station at all.

But getting into a train at Hackney Wick on the way back was a challenge!

No just left it for 45 minutes chatting in the stand and ambling back to the station. It was fine. The journey was all free on my oldie Oyster card too. A bonus!
We didn't rush out and ambled to the station using the winding route out. I don't begrudge the £1.60 each way on my Oyster...

Nice walk back along the Greenway to West Ham station and Met Line back to Paddington...good crowd free way of getting away!

Not familiar with the LOS so followed the crowd back to Stratford station. Could have been an alternative London Marathon :). Very amusing having to stop every 100 yds by kid stewards holding up those red/green stop/go signs navvies use on the road works. Then of course encountering shoppers from Westfield.

Quite simple getting there - train into Paddington. 4 min walk to Lancaster Gate and got seat on Central line to Stratford.
Coming back - so so long to get to Stratford station. Decided to do Jubilee and change at Baker St to get to Padd. Got home eventually just after 6.30.

Really wished gone to Hackney Wick and taken overground that to West Hampstead instead

Great easy journey to get there & back on the DLR. Had a few beers in Stratford before & after the match in good pubs and we weren’t even asked if we were home or away fans. Home fans only my arse. Why do the Brentford old bill say this when it’s not true? We’re Brentford FC we drink where we like!

Ended up driving around the North Circular to Stratford and parking at Westfield.

Nice and easy on the way there. And plenty of places to drink in the vicinity.

Coming back, I grabbed some food in Westfield itself as I thought there was no point fighting the traffic for a couple of hours.

Worked out well, only downside was they make most entrances to Westfield “exit only” after the match so had to trek the long way around to get back in. And it cost £13 to park there for the day!

We did the same, leaving was a bit slow but the M11 M25 were clear so i was home by 6.30

Drove up and parked by Victoria Park in Hackney. Free street parking on Sat and Sun. Nice area. The park has a craft beer stall and lots of street food stalls on Sunday. 35 min walk to the ground. We got away easily too. If you are driving and don’t mind a bit of a walk, I’d certainly recommend this.
