Charles and Theobald presumably to non-league (possibly Div 3)

But where's Evo going? Is he training with anyone right now? Come on, someone must know ;) !

Quite honestly i feel mr evo is going to be in for a bit of shock when no big clubs come in for him, i expect that Mr Evo will have to settle for a club that he would never have contemplated moving to before but maybe forced to join.

You are not in a minority in terms of believing evo was a good player but i do believe you were in a minority on keeping him instead of ivar.

I can't believe that people are slagging Evo off! Another true Bees legend and a sad loss to us. I did feel that we would perhaps have been better off last season in offering Mahon and Ivar new contracts and taking any decent offer for Evo who clearly wanted to move on to a bigger club as a chance to cement his place in the Welsh squad, but that doesn't mean that Evo was a player I didn't rate.

Hope he finds a decent div 1 club to go to. Shame he burnt his bridges at BFC though- after some of the comments attributed to him I can't see him being resigned by the current management.

Interesting to see the comments above. I was one of Evo's greatest fans but was starting to see him in a different light come the end of the season, Big Time Charlie I didn't think he would become.

Its interesting to see that no-one appears to have come in for 'our superstar' yet and I also think Mr Evans may be in for a bit of a shock.

He never let BFC down and his commitment was superb but towards the end Brentford and Evans were challenging each other to see who was the bigger of the two..

If he eventually ends up at Reading then he has a few people to apologise to for publically and personally slating for voicing and printing opinions and what he termed gossip.

He will always be one of my favourite all time players but he needs to grow up a bit, Paul you were playing for a second division Club.....

Now your statement is correct! May I point out Paul Scholes is smaller than Evo.

Why are talking about an EX player anyway. I wish Evo all the best wherever he goes and I hope to see him again at the Millenium for Wales BUT It is kind of satisfying to see a player fall foul to all this contract malarkey. Icant see a big club coming begging sorry.
Top Bee though and a legend IMHO

I don't think we should forget he was a great servant for this club and an inspiring captain. Some of his performances in the early part of last season were outstanding. But over the whole season I don't think he developed or improved as a player meaning he may have reached his peak whereas Ivar and Lloyd just kept on getting better as all round players.

It is no surprise to me therefore that they have been picked up 1st div clubs who will bank on their emerging talent to help themn make the step up. Wereas Evo may find it more difficult to convince someone higher than Div2 that he has the ability to play there.

Contract malarkey? He wasnt even offered one!!! I think that was his ( and my) problem. We all seem to agree he tried %100 do you not think he deserves at least an offer?

It was before Bradford went into administration, so then Evo waved good bye to his big move, and supposidly his new house in Yorkshire as well!!

Yes I do/did. However, what I meant was that had he been I'm guessing that his wage demands would have been too high for BFC and arguably a player of his calibre (ALL footballers are overpaid though that isn't their fault they take what they can get) What I meant was he may have priced himself out of a job and although I was a big fan of Evo and wish him no misfortune its kind of satisfying (in a macbre way) to see the tide turn a bit as hopefully the general silly wages in football will do.

What happens if no club comes in for him, will he just be left unemployed? You'd think that he'd be snapped up by now if anyone wanted him

I think of all the players released over the summer , the one Brentford should have hung onto was Ivar. Of all the mistakes Ron has made in his time at Brentford, I think losing Ivar was his biggest.

Evo to Pompey rumour. It is a bit of a shame when you look at where the three players have gone. Wolves, Sheff Wed and posibly Pompey. Wolves are the only ones who will challenge.

I'm not so sure finchbee. A Wednesday season ticket holder friend (who readily admits they were sh*te last season) is very excited about the next one, especially with a confirmed front 3 of Shefki Kuqi, Leon Knight and Lloydie. Let's face it, that's a pretty damn good frontline to have!! Even tho two of those are unrpoven at Div 1, Knight IS a chelsea player so he can't be too bad, and Kuqi scored a lot of goals for Stockport "worse team ever" County last year. With the fanbase they've got at Hillsborough, don't be surprised to see them challenging for the playoffs...

No, he was asked the question would he have kept Ivar and he said yes but it would have cost £200k per annum, which IMO meant that is what he had been offered elsewhere so to have any chance of keeping him that is what was needed and BFC could not afford it and so Ivar was never offered a new contract.
Ron, I believe was being somewhat ironic.

I thought Ivar was prepared to take a "Pay Cut" to stay at Brentford. With commitment like that from a player, I think Ron should have made an exception about his £500 a week pay structure.
The question is what price do you put on not getting relegated?
I think there will be a huge hole in our defence and for the sake of a few thousand pounds we could have kept Ivar.
This time next year it could be a case of false economy.

Looks like Rotherham are coming in for Evo. To be honest I'm not really that bothered where he goes (with a few exceptions obviously!), just hope he settles down and produces some of the football we know he is capable of.

What price do you put on staying in existence?

Sorry mate, but if we want Bees United to take over and run the club then it HAS to be breaking even. We can't afford to be trying to raise a million pounds every year just to stay afloat.

He may well have said he would take a pay cut, but before he knew what offers were going to come in. If you were one day offered 300% pay rise would you not take it?
Its also not just a few thousand pounds more like excess of 100K difference, which in todays climate is something very few div 2 & 3 Nationwide clubs can afford.

Gee Bee & Mr Cynical you may be correct in what you say, but, if we get relegated wont our average gate go down? We would probably have to reduce wages again, probably lose our best players again with the likelihood of relegation to follow, have to reduce wages etc etc.........Where would YOU draw the line??

I agree to a certain extent with what you say and I have actually made this point under £500 pw wage cap, which is too restrictive and will only lead to the next step being £300 pw because of relegation etc.
We are however in a current climate of being in the "unknown". We must move forward fast off the pitch with regards, to GP, new ground and groundshareing in order to be able to put together an accurate business plan going forward. We also don't know what the outcome of any lawsuit the FL have with TV companies. If successful we may get all the money owed. However until then we can only tighten our belts and quite honestly hope for the best. The fortunate thing is that a majority of clubs are doing the same, with the emphasis on youth and loans being the only way forward in the short term at least.

I thought Evo had signed a pre-contract agreement with Bradford City in January and it was this that started the whole Coppell, contracts and players going issue.

Presumably Evo is sitting waiting for Bradford to come out of administration to see whether or not the offer will be honoured.

I suspect that Bradford have significantly higher gates than us and make more money per spectator than we do and have a much higher commercial income and get more TV money. Lots of reasons why they can afford him and we can't. What's more, even if he earns much more than we have paid him, he'll still be getting much less than some of the overpaid primadonnas on their books that they will be easing out.

I would be surprised if they brought in anybody like Evo on his likely salary without shifting some the other way, which is not looking easy at the moment.

I thought they were still pretty close to liquidation for comfort although as Richmond is their main creditor maybe he has relented.

Gareth Whalley moved from Bradford to Cardiff last week so there's a gap in midfield for Sir Evo hopefully

Bradford cleared out the players on £10-40k a WEEK. They could give Evo probably double his realistic salary expectations and pay him less than that!

I very much doubt that Bradford will be signing anyone and in fact, the future of the club itself is in serious danger as they are 36 million in debt and must satisfy their creditors before the start of the season to be allowed to start in the football league !

Trying to exist in the Premiership on the back of one man's money and dreams.

When it all went pear-shaped Geoffrey richmond couldn't hold it together, couldn't write off debts, couldn't pay players no longer even worth a place on the bench.

Bradford isn't the only place this is happening;

Chelsea £96million in debt

Leeds £100million in debt (-£30 for Ferdi)

Derby and Leicester both relegated with debts of over £30 million. Leicester have just had to let their inspirational captain (Matt Elliott)go on a free because they cant afford to keep him.

Where will Fulham be when Al Fayed gets p*ssed off about being booed for wanting to move awy from the Cottage. He has put them £100 million in debt?????

Even the Premiership clubs (with only one or two exceptions) are not 'flashing the cash' this summer.

Bradford's chairman will allegedly lose a fortune if (when?) they fold. He put real money into the club, unlike some chairmen we could mention.
