Where's Ray Lew?

This Is London today
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Bees mystery over Lewington

by Ken Dyer

Brentford boss Ray Lewington's future was in doubt today when he failed to travel with the Second Division side for their game at Swansea tonight.

Club chairman Ron Noades appointed Lewington as his assistant when he decided to manage Brentford and then the former Chelsea midfield player took over, first in a temporary capacity and then permanently, when Noades relinquished the job in the face of criticism from the club's supporters.

There were suggestions from Brentford that Lewington had gone on a scouting mission but his absence from their match at the Vetch Field will increase speculation that he is about to quit the club.

The Bees travel to Swansea needing another point to be sure of playing Division Two football next season. Striker Lloyd Owusu said: "We have got three games left and there is no way I can see us getting relegated from this position."

Brentford hope Gavin Mahon recovers from a stress fracture of the foot, but Martin Rowlands is struggling with a groin strain. Paul Gibbs misses the run-in as he will have a steel pin removed from his broken leg this week, while striker Mark McCammon (ankle) is out for the rest of the season. </font>

Where's Ray Lew?

Hopefully he is indeed on a scouting mission, and not going to have a chat with a certain Mr Jordan!!

Where's Ray Lew?

If this is the case then our worst nightmare is about to begin...

Where's Ray Lew?

Maybe he has gone.Noades has sacked him twice already. The first time Ray stayed away for a week waiting for his contract to be paid up but when the money didn´t arrive he returned back to work.

Where's Ray Lew?

Scouting mission i think not. The likelyhood of us bringing in any players over the close season is so minute, I have got more chance of winning the lottery!!!!

Where's Ray Lew?

I think he is more likely to be talking to a certain Mr Dwight, than Jordan. Vialli wants Wilkins as his number 2 and Butch has probably recommended Ray Lew as the man to complete the team. Wilkins will be fully aware of the sh*t that Lewington has had to put up with this season and ....

I'm depressed.

Where's Ray Lew?

Maybe he popped over to Madrid to have a ganda but more likely to watch Yeovil v Hereford and some Yeovil players that have bin mentioned!

Where's Ray Lew?

Sounds likely. Butch and Lew are very good friends. Was that the only reason he spoke kindly of us?

To quote Blackadder:

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">I think the phrase rhymes with "Clucking Bell"</font>

Where's Ray Lew?

I really think it is very unlikely that Lewington will become Palace manager. That looks likely to be George Graham or Gerry Francis.

I can confirm however, that the core of this story is definitely true. Ray is not going to be at Swansea tonight. If I hear anything more, I'll post it.

Where's Ray Lew?

Maybe It won´t be such a bad think if RN becomes manager again. At least the cheque book will be waved around again.Stop overs at Bisham Abbey, Five star hotels etc

Where's Ray Lew?

The beginning of the end - mark my words!

Where's Ray Lew?

Don't believe for a second Ray is on a scouting mission. Maybe all the stuff re Palace is true, and Vinney Jones is about to step in and take over?

Dream on. Ron has no intention of taking over as manager again. It will be Wally Downes.</font>

Who´s best mate is apparently Vinne Jones.Maybe an American talk over in the making!!!!

Watford, not Palace.</font>

I think this is more realistic....

Where's Ray Lew?

See you then Ray - thanks mate!
Wally eh? Fantastic!
Where's my Fulham shirt gone - May as well start glory hunting now cos next season we are going DOWN with that w***er in charge

blimey your binoculars must be good to see from there...

if only Ray shouted at players they may actually listen and we might play football..

who cares what happens? We're gonna be lucky to stay up with or without Lewington next season.

those who think we have the players for promotion may be right, however we don't have the manager.

I could go searching for quotes from you lot but I can't be arsed at the moment

OK I'm bored!

attending.I think I'll still go to the pub first then go home ! "

After watching his unique brand of man management last night (ie calling them all tossers and screaming at the top
of his voice for 89 minutes), if they make that f***ing idiot manager I will be looking for a new team to support,
which would be a shame after 21 years of following the Bees. "

and thats after 60 secs of searching! LOL

If they want a hard man Wally is ideal. If the players step out of line Big Chris would put them straight

at least what he shouts is usually correct, if only they bloody listened in the first place.

i wish Lewington would shout a bit more.

Where's Ray Lew?

Bloody hell! Supporting this club is like being on a permanent roller-coaster.

Hope the rumours are not true but I would'nt be surprised - or blame him. Lets face it Lew has had his hands tied over signing new players and things don't look like improving.

Never thought I'd say this but it looks like Noades is doing a better job then W£bb - if you get my drift (I have to be careful he might be reading this ..haha). BFC R.I.P

Where's Ray Lew?

Bloody hell, talk about chinese whispers..RL is not on the bus so we go from Ron noades as manager to vialli at watford, RL at palace and vinnie jones buying brentford in about half an hour!!!!

It is all BS again. He is probably ill!!
That article says we need a point tonight when actually we don't need one at all!!!

Where's Ray Lew?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Lewington was appointed at Watford along with Vialli and Wilkins.

He always said he didn't really want to be a manager again and preferred just being a coach, so if he's been offered the role, expect him to take it.

mhead bee, the RL to Palace and Ron as Ron manager rumours are all from a few days ago. Indeed, I heard about them last week and Turnstile Bee posted them on Sunday as the key was Alan Smith being sacked.!

Where's Ray Lew?

Or is all this one of Edmundo's jokes to suck teamtalk in again? Fingers crossed!

Where's Ray Lew?

Nah, Teamtalk don't need any help from me. They are saying today that we are playing Luton tonight and that West Brom scouts will be at GP to watch Martin Rowlands.

You couldn't make it up!

When was this announced???? Today??? Has Lew said yes???

Where's Ray Lew?

Watford's press conference is to announce their new management team.
Vialli is favourite for the job, I really hope we are wrong about this.

Where's Ray Lew?

Oh god i fear the worst is yet to come.........now Lewi, no players, no Brentford ahhhhh we'll be like Carlisle.

Where's Ray Lew?

If Lew leaves for Watford, fair play, great opportunity to work at a decent club, good chairman & great management team (assumption on Vialli & Wilkins). If he is going to Palace then he is a muppet. Can't see the grey haired fella upstairs liking that though, unless Jordan sells but reading articles lately, thats the last thing on his mind. Whatever his reason, if he does go, you can't blame him really. Just look at the situation BFC are in at the mo...... top players to go, no money to spend despite LDC success, possible ground share with the mighty...er, Woking or Kingstonian. Nice. What a great prospect.

Where's Ray Lew?

Listened to club call 9 am today and it was last nights recording saying that an interview will be heard at 8am tommorow with RL.
Just phoned back now and it has changed to a normal report with no mention of RL at all!!!

Smells fishy around here....or is that my sardines on toast I can smell?

Where's Ray Lew?

I don't like this at all, but lets try and be positive. Its always the worst, with us lot. Lets be honest we can't change anything if Ray wants to go, he deserves better than RN giving him all these problems!!

Where's Ray Lew?

Uh oh folks, there's some bad news going to come out of GP very shortly - watch the official web-site (although knowing RN's PR skills and desire to let us fans know first, we'll probably read/hear about it from somewhere else first)

All those who questioned whether Ray Lew was right for the job on another topic will no doubt be pleased with what you're going to hear

As always being a Bees' supporter, it's onwards and downwards !

Where's Ray Lew?

I havent been able to access the official site for two days ,either at work or home .Anyone else having probs ?

Same as you until today. Now no problems

Where's Ray Lew?

Well Mr Wilkins has spoken to Lew since Saturday that for sure. He said so on sky's voiceover of the Rotherham game. "I spoke to my friend Ray Lewington after the game and he says he was unlucky to lose."

Nice of him to call to see what Ray thought of the game. Or for Ray to call him to let him know.

Where's Ray Lew?

If he goes I don't think it will be to Palace. Jordan came out and said yesterday that he is in no rush to make an appointment and will take advise both inside and outside of football before making his choice.

Where's Ray Lew?

From Sky Sports yesterday..

JORDAN RULES OUT COPPELL

Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has ruled out three of the managers who were favourites to take over from Alan Smith.

The Eagles supremo sacked Smith yesterday (Sunday), but has already said there is no chance of his predecessor Steve Coppell returning to the club.

And Jordan also ruled out another former Palace boss, Dave Bassett, as well as quashing rumours that he would make a move for Wycombe's Lawrie Sanchez or Brighton's Micky Adams.

He told the Evening Standard: "I think Steve (Coppell) was cute to leave when he did because he knew the players and the situation we were about to face.

"He will not be coming back and neither will Dave Bassett. Lawrie Sanchez has done no more than Smith did, getting his club to a cup semi-final, and Micky Adams has only had success in the lower divisions.

"We could be in the lower divisions next season but the club does not belong there and the squad does not have that feel to it.

"I have also heard George Graham and Stuart Pearce mentioned as possible candidates but I don't know and I have not made a decision.

"I am not going to drag it out for the sake of it but I have got until June 25, when the players are due back for pre-season, and I want to make the right decision.

"I will talk to people inside and outside of football and I will not be rushed."

Chief scout Steve Kember will take charge for the final two games of the season, starting with the crucial game at Portsmouth, which will see them relegated to Division Two if they fail to win.

Where's Ray Lew?

Official site doesnt seem to know who will be in the squad/playing tonight....hhhmmmm very strange!!

Where's Ray Lew?

The Evening sub-Standard is running the Lewington story that he may go to Watford & they have to get the odd story correct from time to time.

Either way, as I'VE SAID FIFTY TIMES AT LEAST THIS SEASON. THIS CLUB IS IN SERIOUS sh*t !!!

Too many people have had enough of the doom & gloom that surrounds Griffin Park & have voted with their feet. We have one season possibly to save this club.

The talking has to stop & the action begin !!

Without a fairy godmother flying in soon, we could be the next Brighton & Hove Albion.

Unlike Brighton, there may not be a happy ending either.
