And he beat the 8th seed the other day, coming back from 2 sets down. He may be a complete and utter ******, but he has beaten bigger opposition before.

Haven't some of the top women seeds gone out to lower seeded opposition?

A bit rubbish wasn't he? My non-expert analysis is that if you miss loads of first serves and keep on mis-hitting the ball, you're unlikely to beat one of the two best players in the world.

Also, the English hating bastard looked completely knackered to me. Probably up all night with Sean Connery (James Bond playing, English hating bastard) and the SNP (oil thieving wannabees and English hating bastards) plotting a raid on Berwich Upon Tweed and Newcastle Upon Tyne. :nono:

Besides that the opposition didn't play too bad did he

A slight difference between supporting a footy team from overseas and campaigning for independance when you live in a tax haven and not the country you're campaigning for.

I think unfortunately for Murray, Nadal is on a completely different level. The problem is that Nadal is just one year older than Murray so he is going to be beating him for the rest of his career one would think.

I predict another ten years of quarter final defeats with the odd smattering of a semi much like Timmy.

I think he'll make the final within 5 years. Fed has 3 more really good years, tops. Nadal will dominate until he gets a bit older....

I also predit No coat will grow to like him after he backs Murray at 66/1 when 2- down and 5-2 down yet comes back to win :)

The reason why Murray will have a career like Henman's and hover around the top 10 without ever threatening to win a grand slam is because if you give him the choice of using his ears, brain or mouth he'll choose to use his mouth first and his ears last when he should be reversing that order.

Whereas McEnroe always listened and never shot ogg his mouth. He never won anything either.

Murray appears to be the most hated person in the UK......I think this is partially due to jealously and partially frustration, on the part of us English, who have waved goodbye to (the ultimately second rate) Henman, and have no prospects of any success in Tennis.

Or is it because Murray is a really bad person :confused:

Talent will only take you so far, which in Murray's case is hovering around the top 10. I believe when he first came to prominence he asked for (and got) the LTA to pay for an expensive coach, Brad Gilbert who had previously helped Andre Agassi to win grand slams. I believe he sacked him last year and since then he's fallen out of the top 10. He played Nadal in the Australian open in 2007 and lost in 5 sets, yesterday it looked more like the traditional British performance at Wimbledon with Murray completely outclassed.

Murray's mouth has almost certainly cost him advertising contracts. You can shoot off your mouth if you have charm or are a compelling character, Murray just comes across as surly when he shoots off his mouth.

Some media coaching and getting a high quality coach of the calibre of Gilbert may see him both compete for grand slams and get endorsement contracts from companies that don't make sportswear or tennis rackets, but he strikes me as too stubborn to do something that would probably put a lot of money in his bank account.

When I was watching I said it must be frustrating being only 10 seeds lower but knowing you'll never be as good as your opponent.Its a COMPETITION Nana,thats why some unseeded or lower seeds sometimes beat their higher ranked opposition.I think Murray is there to be knocked down by the anti sweaties.Hes young and hasnt handled the media pressure very well,may be he should of been shielded from it a bit more.The " any one but England " statement will be with him until he actually does win some thing major.

When Federer won his 5th consecutive Wimbledon over Nadal last year, surely people were saying the same thing...

Since then Nadal has beaten Federer in Monaco, Germany and in the French Open, and is on his way to becoming World no. 1

Murray can get stronger and closer to the top of the tennis world, it's not inconceivable.

He was injured last year - you may have noted he was absent from Wimbledon 2007. It was mainly his injury that led to the fall in ranking points and his place in the top 10.

Having met Mr Gilbert I am not surprised Murray got rid of him :)

the Spic really was quite good, eh? in many eras he'd be the dominant force - it must be frustrating for him that he's playing alongside possibly the best ever. but, he has improved enough to make this year's Nadal-Federer final (presumably) a truly mouth-watering prospect - it should be one to watch for years to come :sorted:

You might be right - all that I'd heard was that they have chosen next to extend his contract when it expires.

He is coaching Bogdanovic, who's career is in freefall.

That proves that you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

It's so much easier to be seen as a great coach when you work with talented players obviously, but the really great coaches (at all sports) turn the ordinary into something special.

From what I have heard, Bogdanovic has an issue with focus and dedication.

Saw the women's final. Serena is probably mad at herself. She blew umpteen chances to win the first set in a cakewalk and blew even more break point chances in the second.

Venus deserved it as she kept her head and played a steady game, serving well.

Thats what they said about me and they were correct.Ive got velcro on my shoes so I can get dressed in under an hour now.Shirts and shirts with buttons are still a challenge though.If i dont have the shirt inside out I often button the top button to the bottom hole.I was talking to my best mate on my mobile the other day and the reception was faint,then I realised I had been holding the phone upside down.Thats special

Aussie parents, she was born in Melbourne, came here when she was 6. She is a Brit through "resident qualification"

Wondered why she had such a good sun tan, you Brits dont tan like us foreigners you know! :sorted:

She could of chosen to represent Australia, just as Greg could of chose to represent Canada, so we should welcome them for wanting to represent the best country in the world!!! :fishing:

Great atmosphere, better than Griffin Park I have to say. lol

Some of the shots she pulled off were unbelievable. As long as the media stay off her I think this Aussie could be the first British winner since Virginia Wade.
