What if there are no bidders for Toney at our valuation? This all theorical of course but if there are no offers on the table do we keep both if we are offered 30m for Wissa?
Yes.
We've just had the Raya money so no pressure to sell anyone.

You’re right that we can’t be sure about formation. But having read quite a bit about Fabio wanting to play no.10 and TF mentioning 4231 approach upon signing, one could infer it’s a strong possibility.

On Yoane. He have Igor and in a way we don’t. Effectively missed a lot of pre-season and will be few months behind rest of the team. Have to be prepared that he may not adapt as quickly as we need. Ivan might go and even if he doesn’t, might there be resentment that Yo is going?

It opens up a few uncertainties and risk when that’s last thing we need
Don’t get me wrong we can’t risk selling both Wissa & Toney without further reinforcement, with regards to Ivan having resentment.. not sure he operates that way and in addition someone has to make an acceptable bid first for him and worse case scenario he goes on free next season and gets a massive signing on bonus. Especially after he scores another 20 goals for us this season!

It’s incredibly optimistic to think we can go out and sign a couple of ready-to-go, 12-15 goal strikers in the closing days of the window.

Sell Wissa for 30million bring back Neil for next to nothing.
All these stats about goals, Neil got six in half a season , being quoted that Wissa may get 10-15, so who says Neil wont?.......Anyway just saying !!
Be all the same if Wissa got injured......oh no what we going to do then?!!!
So we may as well sell any of our best players as they might get injured. What a ridiculous argument!
And it's Neal, BTW, not Neil. He spent long enough playing for us to get his name right.

Yoane Wissa

Ask them for 40m or tell them to go away.We don't need to sell,Yoane has a lot if time left on his contract. They need Yoane they pay up.

Also we sell Yoane will this unsettle his buddy Brian?
It’s Bryan and they maybe mates but when Liverpool come calling for Bryan he won’t be asking if they can buy Wissa as well ???

Yoane Wissa

Don't see how this works for us at the price being offered. We strengthen a rival, weaken ourselves and need to find 12-15 goals that Wissa pretty much guarantees.

Unless we have a better option that Wissa lined up I think this would be a mistake to let him go now.

If Thiago was fit I think we might be in a safer place to sell.

He's scored 7, 7 and 12 the last 3 seasons. Hardly guaranteed 12 to 15 ??‍♂️

@cliffbee
For one I am not arguing, I said what we will do IF he got injured, so you could not have read the post properly.
As for spelling Neal, oh dear major problem, Maupay ....is that right?
Fek me if that's all we have to worry about, I will predict top 12 this season.

Yoane Wissa

Arguably the best finisher at the club, but definitely wants a start and more effective through the middle. Not guaranteed when Ivan playing

Yoane Wissa

If he goes would it provide the funds to offer better terms to IT, if there are no bids ?
No one would have planned for him to go so it is unexpected income.

Yoane Wissa

It will be a shame if he goes, never gets injured, he has improved each season in the prem, this could be his year he shows what was seen in him, and going to wolves won't be a forward move
This is how I see it, taken some time to adapt but feel this year he can really kick on. He was looking good with Bryan down the middle until Toney rocked up and pushed him out wide again.

Yoane Wissa

I’d rather keep a player that seemingly wants to be here, than offer better terms for one that wants to leave.

He wants to play every game so does he really want to be here seeing us sign players knowing he may not be starting?

IF we dont sell Toney and if schade , mbuemo and Thiago (when back) are all available, throw in Carvalho, then he is not going to start.

I love wissa for his effort but id go as far to say if you gave KLP the same game time i doubt the return would be drastically different.

If they offer a big price and we know others are staying, along with the fact we paid 8 mill for him, unfotunately he has to go.

Yoane Wissa

"Guaranteed" ?
I didn’t say guaranteed but I’d put big money on if he was on the pitch more he’d score more goals, he is the best finisher we have.
I don’t think he’s an immediate start when we have our very best 11 available but he’s a hugely important part of the squad and played down the middle he will always score goals

What’s really hard is the reasons you and others have given are valid, but no less and no more valid than those for keeping him.

I just think we’ve worked so hard to get to a point where we can imagine life beyond Ivan. In a season where, without Rico and Hicks, I suspect our defence will continue to be ‘leaky’, it’s that much more important that the front line continues to flourish without disruption.
This pre-season some of the link up between Yo, Bry and Kev has been just brilliant. So good that I can actually see Wissa scoring 20.

I think if it weren’t for the fact squad depth is a current concern, I’d be more on board.

The irony is… who would’ve thought we’d get an offer for Wissa before Ivan.

Yoane Wissa

I have no issue in selling players when their valuation is met as there are no untouchables.

Wissa is probably at the top of his market now and assuming we’re not about to sell Toney then I would imagine the club would be keen to conclude one major sale as I’m sure that the target is one sale per year and Raya counts as a last year sale not this.

Should he go then it would leave us a bit short upfront with Toney/Thiago, Mbeumo, Schade, KLP and perhaps Carvalho.

Surely we would need to bring in another striker even on loan as cover before letting him go.

Yoane Wissa

If there is any chance of Toney going this window, IMO Wissa leaving would be a very bad idea.

Unless we have replacements lined up ?

It won't happen now but Wissa out for £25M and Beier in for £30M ✅

I could handle a deal like that no problem ??

I'm sure we would have a list of appropriate replacements like we would for most players.

I would be concerned with no replacement though ??

Yoane Wissa

He is a great character, and definitely a very underrated player. But if the tweet is correct, certainly hard not to cash in. His best performances were when playing in the middle of a front 3, and that spot is likely going to be for Thiago when healthy, and now Toney (if not sold). His playing time can be very limited this year, even with a good start (look what happened to Maupay's minutes towards the end of last session, and he had scored a few points)

I think the way its is is shaping up he probably will get a lot of playing time here, but yes hard not to ignore the fee. If he goes he’ll leave a bit of a hole with the fans and probably the dressing room. As supporters we all have our favourites and he’s one of mine, so will a bit gutted but understand if he goes for that price

Yoane Wissa

Terriible timing if we sell Wissa in this window. Will.leave us goal shy if Ivan leaves too and we know what that means in the Prem.
Exactly. An injured Tiago, Mbeumo, Schade, KLP wouldn’t be enough imo. We definately wouldn’t be able to lose both of them. I’d rather hold out for an offer on Toney than sell Wissa.

Yoane Wissa

The same people presuming to be able to let him go would have been the same ones last season moaning about the complete lack of depth in the squad when injuries hit.

Would be madness to sell.

Yoane Wissa

IF this has truth in it, I’d guess the Club would agree (assuming Wissa is happy with what he’s offered) if a decent fee in on the table. He's a good player but he’s never really fitted to our formation and, if Thomas is moving to add a 4-2-3-1 formation to our options, that doesn’t improve the situation. I’d assume Yoane knows this.

I’d also assume that Lee Dykes has a decent short-list of attackers to meet Thomas’ requirements. Maybe the Cabral rumours from Portugal came from an inquiry. It’s all complicated by the Thiago situation, that we fans know about, and Toney's situation, that we don’t.

Yoane Wissa

Surely it would make more sense to sell Toney for 30mil this season than sell wissa for that money? Toney will go next season for nothing and wissa would still have resale value this time next year
You can only sell Toney if someone wants to buy him and pay 250 grand a week which is a bit ott.
If no one comes in for him then he aint going anywhere.
If Wissa likes Wolverhampton then he goes and that is that for whatever WWFC are prepared to pay.
Yes Ivan does walk free next summer and we lose a transfer fee,but Ivan has seen out that 5 year contract the club offered him when he signed which may get him a loyalty bonus too.
