Thameslink rarely check tickets so will go without one there. Cant be arsed/afford to commit to travel with these nonsense strikes. I'm hearing theyre off... but travel could still be affected...

Why would travel still be affected if the strike is called off this early?

They are scheduled. A strike is not turning up to work and drive the trains that you are scheduled to do.

Thameslink were giving out drivers rotas on a Friday for the following day and Sunday to Friday.
Drivers knew who was working what watch.
They weren't happy with that as it was Monday to Sunday received on a Friday.
I used to receive these myself so I would see what drivers I was picking up and dropping off and where I was taking them too.

I have a parking space in Brighton that i've booked... it's on Reeves Hill. About a 1.5 mile walk from the stadium or a 5-10 minute cab which would cost about £8.

Was going to drive because of the train strike, but now it's off i'm going by train.
If any Brentford fan needs it, let me know, £17 (cost price that I paid). Just need vechicle registration - it is at a residential address.

SWR have announced this

On Wednesday 22 March we were notified that industrial action by the RMT union, scheduled for Thursday 30 March and Saturday 1 April, has been suspended.

We will operate our normal timetable on both days.

Southern have said this

We have been made aware of RMT’s decision to suspend strikes, therefore on Thursday 30 March and Saturday 1 April we will be running our normal service.

This is now reflected in journey planners. Engineering works may also be taking place, please check before you travel.

No direct trains from Clapham junction and change needed at Hayward’s heath or Gatwick adding about 15mins on journey but at least they’re running ✅

Regarding the free/reduced travel zone for Brighton ticket holders: is this for all travel in/around the travel zone or just trains to/from the stadium?

For example, if we planned to head into Brighton before the game, would our travel between Haywards Heath and Brighton be free/reduced as we have a ticket?

We come from the West and park close to Shoreham station: into Brighton, then change for the Falmer special, all in the zone. There's always a queue and a queueing system operates, so leave plenty of time.

Thanks. It’s more about whether the reduced zone just includes travel to/from the stadium. If we wanted to go into Brighton first, would that be covered on the scheme? Or do we need to buy train tickets to Brighton?

I only know our case but it's not just to/from Brighton central station to Falmer. We go from Shoreham-by-Sea (within the free travel zone) to Brighton station, go into the town, then back to Brighton station for the trip to Falmer, so two separate journeys on the match ticket.

All train travel is free from Haywards Heath down to Brighton, so will need to buy a ticket down to Haywards Heath and then the rest of the journey is covered by your ticket for the match.

No your match ticket is sufficient for you to go out into Brighton before the game.
Iirc it covers travel from Haywards Heath to Falmer via Brighton station after 11.30 for a 3pm kick off.
So alight at Brighton and enjoy the seaside.

Anyone traveling to the game from London only needs a ticket to Haywards heath and the match ticket covers the rest of the journey after 11.30.

The other year I used my Freedom pass to Coulsdon South,
so bought a ticket from there to Hayward’s Heath, then match
ticket to Brighton, all on same train.

I've always got on a train within the match travel zone. I'd guess it's any on-train ticket inspectors, you just need a valid ticket for the relevant sector you're on: before HHE a valid ticket, after HHE, your match ticket, which will get you through the barrier at Brighton, both for arrival and for departure to Falmer.

Brighton have parking available at the stadium for £15.00 if anyone interested, can be booked via their website, it does say it can take up to an hour to get out afterwards.

Never again. I hung around till gone half 5 and got out of the grouground at quarterto 7

That's why they keep the bar open afterwards. Nice leisurely pint and then straight on the train to Brighton with no queue

I think the train from Falmer was a little easier than last time, in terms of the queue. We got on the third train, the first being at the platform as we got to the queue. On the other hand, the trains from and to Shoreham were every 30 minutes with only 4 carriages and were heaving!

18.00 to Southampton for me....amazing just how many Bees fans reside along the south coast corridor judging by those on same train.

Walking back to Falmer Station, some Brighton fan was barging into bees fans including myself, " f*** home now you've had your day out " his passi g comment. Must still think it's Palace v brighton

I got the 700 coastliner to Worthing, where we were staying
Saturday night. Took nearly 2 hours, nightmare journey ?

The A27 Westbound, Shoreham by-pass, was closed for building a new road junction near Shoreham airport. I guess the bus went through old Shoreham and over the old Adur bridge, as did we, although we used the back lanes to get there, traffic was awful.

I guess older fans, who used to have easier journey by train to Hove and carried on following them after moved to Falmer?
