The surprisingly good Blue Sharks of Cape Verde are 3-0 up against Mozambique, who aren’t mugs themselves (they drew with Nigeria first game).

I can see CV easily getting into the round of 16, like they did for AFCON ‘22, if not the quarter finals. I wouldn’t underestimate them.

Not sure what I make of Benrahma's omission from this Algeria squad.

They've taken off the player they named in their 4-1-4-1 formation at h/t (34 and every one of those yrs) and have replaced him with Mohamed Amoura.

Feghouli wasn't a direct replacement as he looks a right lump but the 5'6'' Union SG winger is.

To summarise what I’ve said on the Benrahma thread, I don’t think he delivers for Algeria.

Benrahma (and indeed Algeria) had a dreadful AFCON 2022 last January (and, remember, they were the reigning champions!), not getting beyond the group stage. In that tournament, Benrahma only started one game (the 3-1 loss to Ivory Coast) and came on as a late substitute in the other two group games. And he’s only started for West Ham five times this season, and been on the bench for seven games. Personally, I don’t think Belmadi (Algeria’s coach) rates him. His stats for Algeria over the last year aren’t impressive. Since January 2022 he’s been in the Algeria squad 13 times out of a possible 33 games, and only played one full game (a friendly against Senegal).

If Belmadi's team carry on like this it might cease to be a problem after this tournament.

Either way SB needs to find a club in France that will play him so he can at least try and rediscover some form and fitness.
