Incredible scenes in Abidjan, but we should recall that Equatorial Guinea aren’t mugs. They got to the quarter finals of AFCON 2021, losing to Senegal (who went on to win it, of course).

There‘ll be blood on the carpet of the Ivorien FA tonight. Hope they sack the lot. The country has spent over US$1,000,000,000 to host this tournament and they’ve been humiliated on their home turf, with their heaviest defeat at home EVER!

Is Hughton still the Black Stars manager? If so, how and why please? Absolutely awful AFCON for Ghana. Two points and a negative goal difference is just unbelievable. It’s like AFCON ‘21 all over again, when freakin’ Comoros dumped them out of the tournament. GFA needs disbanding and starting all over again ?

And f***ing Naija qualified, despite being as rank as the Black Stars ? It couldn’t get any worse.

Egypt through, despite not winning a game so far…..

Senegal pay Guinea today. Both have already qualified effectively.
Maybe they'll play out a safe draw ?
Or a vibrant 1st half and a dour 2nd period.
Prediction 1-1

Winner of Cameroon v Gambia will also go through. Both will be desperate to avoid a draw which will probably mean elimination.
Prediction 2-0 Cameroon

Angola v Bikini Fatso. Again both have realistically qualified so I can see a draw here. Maybe the Fatso's will edgea win ?
Prediction BF 2-0 winners

Algeria surely must fancy their chances against Mauritania. A win would turn their tournament around after 2 disappointing draws.
Mauritania neighbours Algeria.
Prediction. 2 red cards. Algeria win 4-0

Eeeek………..so if it stays that way, Algeria fails to get out of their group for the second AFCON running, having won it in 2019 ?

I’m 100% planning that one already, with my youngest lad. It’ll be incredibly easy to do. And my second AFCON too, after South Africa 2013 ??

Algeria finish bottom of their group for the second AFCON running ?

So…….the permutation is that Ivory Coast could be eliminated from their own AFCON tonight if Bafana Bafana loses to Tunisia and Chipolopolo wins or draws with Morocco.

I just can’t see South Africa losing to Tunisia, who have been woeful, tbh (although SA have never beaten Tunisia at AFCON before). Before the tournament Tunisia were ranked third in Africa. At the moment they’re bottom of their group, having scored only one goal so far, and lost one and drawn one of their games.

How many times do you think VAR has been used and how many obvious errors has it made ?
I'm guessing here but it's less than 1% I think.

Not sure officially but there is a lot of moaning and saying it hasn’t worked each week !

People saying it’s the worse thing ever in football and they won’t go again if it carries on etc .

I mean it’s so surjective in terms of how one person views an incident another which is I think people didn’t expect when VAR came in .

The assumption was there would be very few “errors” or decisions would pretty much be the same week by week or from ref to ref which was maybe too much to ask for ?

It's an extra layer of referee which can be a problem.
This won't happen but I think they should scrap VAR except for Offsides and rely on the ref / linos for everything else.
