Its comes down to a common sense vs frustration discussion, which is healthy on a message board.

Common sense dictates this squad has been shrewdly assembled by Scott and his scouts, that this is the most talented squad we have had for many a year and improving, frustration surfaces that performances and tactics have been hot and cold.

For an example, Carlisle away was not money well spent, but it is what it is, you enjoy everything else about the day, except the football on some days like that. It didn't make me lose belief in Scott or the team. I get frustrated as many when we don't win, Bristol Rovers I was chuntering how we can't win, but I saw how we played, I saw improvement, so that is enough for that week and we move on. Everton proved what the team and crowd can do. They stood up, we backed them, together it was memorable.:)

I understand the frustration at the style and tactics Scotty employs to get results, especially away when they don't show, I've seen some horror shows :nono: at Macc, Accy, Yeovil, Wycombe to name 4 over the past two years, but I temper that with great performances against Shrewsbury, Norwich, Leeds, Southampton, Hull and Everton to even the balance.

If we go on a winless run, Scotty will know before us the pressure will be on, but in truth, the board since his appointment run the club with a great deal of common sense, I view my club in a much healthier state than 2008, I want more, like we all do, but I temper it that as we are a League 1 club, it's a rollercoaster of a ride. History will judge Scott, as a success or failure, the beauty is nobody knows whether he will be the man to take us to the land of plenty, here's hoping.:sorted:
Great post

Yep - Time for a change before it is too late. Lose at Brighton and lose to Charlton (which we probably won't as we somehow get up for the big games) and that should be enough for the board to act surely?

Matthew Benham has invested a lot of money in new players, now he needs to invest in a new Manager who can turn them into a team.

Absolutely. AS is clearly out of his depth at this level. Two more defeats and it should be tarra.

Lose at Brighton, and I expect the atmosphere at GP the following Saturday will be extremely prickly.

AS I think himself has admitted that fortunes can turn around in half a dozen games, and if we're talking about the league here - his bread and butter - then he is running out of games.

Andy Scott

This may not be a popular choice, but how about Steve Clarke? Has worked as Mourinho's understudy, helped Zola ruin West Ham (ok maybe leave that bit off the CV) but I think it could be a good idea to get someone who has worked as an assistant at a higher level, and wants to take his own team over. I.e. look at Gus Poyet for example, seems to be working for Brighton.

Just a thought

Andy Scott

I can feel a growing mutiny amongst the ranks.

Andy Scott

I'm gutted we didn't go in for Chris Hughton a couple of seasons ago. He had less stock at the time, being number two at Spurs. But then I suppose even a number two at a Prem side can be beyond our budget. :(

The question is....do any of the board have the balls ? and I don't mean footballs

Andy Scott

bring in Sir Steve as Director of football then? he loves us

Personally I dont like getting into all of this sack the manager stuff. I am not going to join in, but Andy Scott needs to sort something out.

He probably has 3-4 games to turn it around. But with the money we have splashed out... this is such a terrible start. We have a good team on paper, we have shown in the cups that we can play some awesome football... yet in the league where it matters it is all going wrong.

Must do better

Andy Scott

The same way as it worked when Scott replaced Butcher?

roflroflrofl

not exactly the same though not unless Andrew Mills is Chairman of the Ex Cabbie's of London Petrol or Diesel conundrum committee:D

Q abee I love Dickens and Butcher and long for their return post 477

Q Gee Bee you cant wait to have a pop at AS can you?:fishing:

Q possible infraction

Q comes after P post

Q wannabee Directors with winkle pickers saying who do you trust ROB or the writer post 2

Q westwing fighting for Good as it always triumphs over Evil.

Q lots of :):):)

I like Andy and I think he's done an amazing Job since he took over but I don't understand what is going on with our league form. Why drop Lee? Did he not think that some of the players would understandably be a bit jaded tonight? I really am confused by some of his decision and I believe we have too many players who think they should be in the first IX. I don't think he know his strongest team and he seems unwilling to change things around when needed. Having said all that I think he deserves a little more time.

Andy Scott

8 days left for me. Brighton away must produce at least a scoring draw, and then Charlton at home.

So that's the problem, we've been playing with only NINE players:idea:

Andy Scott

His style of play worked in league 2 and we'll all be grateful to him for a long time for getting us out of there. But league 1 is a different matter, even the average to poor sides can play and they all play better football than us.

We are one dimensional and as soon as we let a goal in any chance of winning a game is gone - we never look like scoring more than one and in the last 3 league games we haven't even managed that.

You've got 2 weeks Andy, its an entertainment and results business and this season to date you've neither entertained or got results. Fact.

Andy Scott

this is a joke! one win in 8! we have the biggest budget for years and a team capable of top 8 finish, i give it two more games and if AS cant turn it around he has to go! He isnt getting the best out of the team. We have players who could play a brillant 'tippy tappy' game! Some one else is needed to change the style of play and get the best out of the players!
David Moyes is a brillant man and a manager but he has probably taken Everton as far as he has, and it is the same with AS he has done wonders for Brentford, but right now his way isnt working, how the **** R.Lee was dropped is beyond me! Forster come on for last few minutes its a joke! Im so furious!
We have a team capable of finsihing top 8, the biggest budget in years if AS cant get the best out of the team then some one else has to come in!

Andy Scott

Thats the thing, we need a manager who will let our players pass around a bit more. When we do it, we look dangerous!!

Andy Scott

I wanted him out this time last year .
I saw him for what he was worth then.
We have a much bigger budget than we have had for years and he has wasted it.
Cant organise cant motivate cant select

Andy Scott

After spending £60 to go to tonights game, i'll give him 3 matches, Brighton, charlton and Oldham, people say MA was naieve what is Scotty??

Andy Scott

Whose job is it at BFC to hire and fire by the way?

I feel sorry for them whoever it is. :(

Andy Scott

I do not think he should be sacked, but he needs to change things VERY quickly. Someone close to him needs to tell him that his current approach is not working and he needs to take this on board.

We have to start scoring goals, we will be in big trouble if our current 0.5 goals per game continues, regardless of how strong we are at the back!

Agreed.....more time only if changes are made.......

I really want Andy Scott to have the answer. He was the Messiah two years ago, he's got us promoted, and consolidated reasonably well last year. One feels he has a keen eye in the loan and transfer market. But...
...this Season is looking shocking, and even I with my lack on footballing brain find it hard to understand some team choices and substitutions.
My feeling is that he should have until November to prove himself. I'm sure he knows what pressure he's under. He got the job after a sacking - live by the sword, die by the sword.
November to be clear of the relegation zone, or whip the rug away quick sharp.

Andy Scott

is a div. FACT!
He's useless and was booed bigtime tonight, I never thought that I could begin to actually fear and hate going to Brentford games. Andy has made me feel this way, change the pattern of play Mr Arrogance as your wing wizardry style of play is shockingly sh*t.
KOC and Dave went slowly sideways and quickly back, thus wingers were marked and double manned by the time they got the ball or Karleigh abnd Pim had to try and play long killer passes. Nobody sems to enjoy playing his style and it's a right fecker watching it, Scott is related to Ron Noades as there can't be two families with that arrogant streak running throuh them.
Clueless and boring, anyone trusting him has their heads up their arses or lives on the Isle of Wight.

Andy Scott

I don't want us to turn into a Southampton-type club, and AS's record over the past few seasons and the win over Everton mean that he deserves time to turn things around. I'd give him 5 games, which is enough for him to try at least a couple of new tactical approaches. We can't carry on like this, and AS needs to know that his job depends on turning it around immediately.

Totally agree.

Andy Scott should stay. Look where he's got us in 2 and a half years. League 2 relegation candidates to a team that SHOULD be pushing for the players. He has until christmas IMO. Until them, lets get behind him and his team and stop booing them after a poor performance. That wont get us up the league.

Andy Scott

Personally think he should get next 2 games. If after 10 games the points haul is 7 or 8 then time to go.
