Andy Scott

will the last post be at st andrews if we go out of the cup ?????

Andy Scott

That's what I thought. Thanks for saving me from reading this drivel. I see that MA's been brought into it too. All together now...

Let's go round again
Maybe we'll turn back the hands of time
Let's go round again
One more time

Let's go round again
One more time, one more time, one more time

It's all about having an opinion, and if we all agreed with each other then there would be no pont in the GPG. Sadly just because some peoples points differ from others Needless sarcasm appears and spoils the effort and time that some spend on here.
My only hope is this does not reflect the persona of certain individuals in their everyday life. and I include myself on this yopic.

Andy Scott

We are going round in ever decreasing circles here. Let's have a truce.
I'm sure Andy has been giving his all and the players are listening and will too.
So let's stop the rot, play well and beat Charlton so we can all get off this depressing and horrid thread. Come on you Bees, let's do it! Xxxx

Beat Charlton and everything will be alright! Okay..... :sorted:

Can someone give a summary of this > 15,000 post thread so far please. I'm worried that I'm nissing out on some gripping stuff.

Summary.

Wayfarer172 is Stimson in disguise. Rumour has it he is not impressed with Scott.

Some folk say never go back (unless you want Coppell, then it's OK apparently)

Brentford fans are the most fickle and forgetful ever to walk this planet.

Deano is gonna be the greatest manager that ever lived.

Martin Allen is either the Messiah or a total knob depending who you believe.

We're either going oop as fookin champions or down the pan without trace depending on tomorrow's result.

etc etc etc....

Andy Scott

Sadly, that's just an example of one extremely sick human being. Nothing to do with football or hatred.

So Marky, out of curiosity how long would you give AS to turn it around?
The thing is, no matter what the gpg says, at the end of the day it is down to the people who pay his salary.

Take that back . I dont hate AS but I DO hate Simpson.

Andy Scott

Tisdale is performing miracles and has impeccable dress sense.
Buckle is well thought of and his football is supposed to be top notch.
Coppell, but that's a dream.
Deano must come into the equation.
Who knows.

I have reached the end of the line with accepting these surrenders that have become more and more frequent, I can't be alone.

Your not alone mate , its becoming quite clear that scott that can assemble a squad but not a team . In my view i feel he,s wasted alot of money on average players who will not challenge for promotion whilst ive got a hole in my backside .:(

My comment was based on a disgusting comment from a "fan", nothing to do withhow long I think AS should have.

We lost a few games we thought we would win.
This seems illogical compared to preseason hopes so a scapescott must be located.

Andy Scott

Im sure greg dyke will get us another great manager going on his previous appointments like leroy, butcher ect.
Yes to mad dog yes,yes,yes,yes

Dyke doesn't appoint the manager single-handed. Scott was the right appointment a couple of seasons ago, it's just that he doesn't look like the right appointment at the moment.

MA is not the answer to any question I can think of other than "What manager would you appoint if you wanted your football club to take a retrograde step?".

Andy Scott

If I were AS now, I'd be saying to the team ''Look lads my tactics are ****ing up big time, so just go and enjoy yourselves against Charlton.I promise you my backing as my tactics for the 1st division are failing big time''
''WE got away with it in Division 2, because I am an expert in kick and rush''.
''My job is possibly on the line now,so if you love me(And I am a lovable person) go and do the business for me tomorrow afternoon''.

Yeah, all well and good but I'd like to see him add

"...my tactics are ****ing up big time, so just go and enjoy yourselves against Charlton and I'm going to be talking to other managers, coaches, mentors about changes in tactics and adding to my knowledge and skills."

I dont want my football club to take a retrograde step, last time we was under martin's managership he saved us from a certain relegation and we was challenging for promotion to the championship that is were brentford should be,not bottom of the first division.
I do like Andy and terry and i do hope they can turn things around starting today with a decent win against Charlton.
up the bees

Martin Allen used to be the Messiah, but now he's a very naughty boy.

Deano is the new Shankly.

Appointing MA to replace Scott because he hasn't got a tactical knowledge and there is no plan B is a bit like asking Josef Fritzl to look after your children because you don't trust your babysitter.

Andy Scott

It doesn't matter if the team improves and we win matches, we should still blindly get rid of AS :fishing:

Only 7 points of the playoffs. :sorted:

Andy Scott

Let's not start all this where are the doubters now. 3 absolutely crucial points today, but AS needs an unbeaten run, not the odd win here and there. Another massive game next Saturday, come on bees !!!

Andy Scott

W'eve moved from last to second last.
20 mins to go we were 6th bottom.
Give the lad to xmas and sleep well tonight

Absolutely right. I've been critical of AS's tactics but credit now where it's due. I'm interested to see the match reports and how we set ourselves up. Looks like AS did alter tactics today. We need to string some results together from now on.

Andy Scott

I would like to change my vote to AS must stay. Great performance to build from.

Andy Scott

Don't sack Andy Scott, he's great.*

*(Please note this may be subject to change depending on the result of our next match).

Andy Scott

Tactically good first half, missed a plan b second half, but 3 points will do me.

Andy Scott

Thought that was a lot of determination and will to win which doesn't tally with the "everybody hates Scott" line.

I think we were slightly hamstrung with the lack of options up front. As the 2nd half progressed, we found it more difficult to hold the ball up front and consequently Charlton were able to exert greater pressure on us. I also thought Dave faded badly (which could well be due to him still getting over the flu) and we won far less in the middle of the park than we did first half as a result. In fairness to Andy, he changed the formation and I think tried to make the best of what he had available.

I don't think there is hate in the camp at all. It is from the fans and rumours. I just hope he can add some tactical nous to his abilities. Such as a plan b to make the oppo think about us and our changes and to not sit and play 4-5-1 at home trying to hold on to a 2-1 lead. My only gripe of today. Sorry

Andy Scott

I don't think there were any options. Alexander and Forster were knackered and the ball kept coming back at us. With what we had on the bench it was the only thing to do... and Charlton were desperately trying to score, as well.

I think we ran out of legs and the ball kept coming back. Alexander didn't look too happy when hooked but I think AS out-managed Parkinson today and got most things right.

two winger/strikers ,one fast rookie striker on the bench

I thought it was 50/50, we won the first half easily, they changed things at HT and won the 2nd but only got one goal. A great 3 points but I won't change my mind on one game, lose next week and another false dawn has happened. 5 or 6 unbeaten with decent performances isn't asking for much.

Well, he brought Hudson on, and Sam Wood was staying on to back up Spillane against Charltons left-winger, there was no way Adams was going to get subbed on, he is crap at defending.

No I have no fault with Andys tactic, 2-1 up with 15 minutes left, bringing on 2 midfielders to break up the play worked well. I was much happier to flood the middle and play on the break at the end, and we didnt leak a goal.

No point in keeping it aggressive when we are winning and time is running out. AS played the sensible tactic and got it right, we would have all moaned if he had subbed on another striker and we had leaked one.

All the people criticising the 'stubborn' way AS wants to play, was that a bad performance?

No but that was a performance with passes through midfield, one twos and tippy tappy. It wasn't a normal AS performance now was it?:rolleyes:

Yep. And the communication between them showed a team that respected each other and their manager. An enormous test today to halt the losing run and I thought they carried themselves brilliantly. An unhappy camp wouldn't have put that performance on.

I think you can keep it aggressive when you have the players available to do so. With Charlie or Cort on the bench it would've given him that option.

No, but it was a very similar performance to what we've seen against Wednesday, Everton and Hull. I'd like to think that that's the way in which AS tries to get us to play each game (it's certainly the way I'd like to see us play !) but he's not managed to get enough performances like that this season. That's got to be his aim now and IMO, his success in achieving that will ultimately determine whether he remains as manager or not.

I thought we played shorter than any that you mention until tiredness and the nerves kicked in. A fantastic win and I'm made up, I just want a few more now.

That's fair. I think I was referring more to us playing much higher up the pitch with a quicker tempo and winning the first and second balls, especially in the middle of the park which is what gave us the platform to get the ball down and play it.

Oh and never mind a few, I want a lot more performances like that. :D

Andy Scott

we have to kick on from this win. As we havent from other wins.
A good performance on Tuesday along with 3 points vs Oldham and go from there. . . Im still not convinced so far.
Agree with Owlsmoor, we did those things in the first half and reduced Charlton to nothing and we were dominant and they were average. Start of second half it all changed, dont no why?

We made them look average. They went long ball but apart from the last 20, I didn't think that they were great shakes but they did succeed in pushing us back. Can't disagree though - this win will be meaningless if it's a one off. This is the minimum level we need to find each week.

Andy Scott

Some other things I observed - Bullivant was far more vocal today and Scott less so. Also, the senior players - KOC, Alexander, Forster, Woodman - were more in touch with the dug out than other games I've seen.

Perhaps I'm wrong though - I may not have taken as much notice or bothered looking before.

Andy Scott

Well done AS for what looked like a much better strategy.
Especially good given the injuries.
Beware the next bad team we play - good teams open up and let us play, crap ones shut us down and thus far we have not been able to beat that.
Still wonder why AS signed two forwards whose combined age is close to 70.

That's it!
