I've got a sneaky feeling for Paulo Sousa - what are peoples thoughts on him. Did well at Swansea but it didn't work out at QPR (interference from on high) and Leicester (again lots of boardroom unrest at the time).

I think he'd get us playing decent football, but doesn't have lower league knowledge.

I'm guessing he would be more towards the middle if you are talking wage demands which would maybe free up a little cash for players. Certainly wouldn't be unhappy with him as manager but like you say does he know league one?

I wonder what the situation with Brighton was, i.e. whether poyet is on a wedge, if they have invested heavily in the playing budget or what not. I honestly don't know but it goes to show that experience doesn't count for everything.

According to the Football League Paper interviews are taking place now and Fozzy has had his.He states that he is relying on the players to make him the Bees boss.He,like us,does not know the runners and riders and does not beleive their are many rumours flying around.There we are then,interviews are on going.

I'd be devastated if he was appointed, he got Swansea in the play offs with the fewest goals for ever. No fans at any club Raras, Swansea and Leicester have a good word to say about him.

I feel that Fozzy has done okay, but has he done enough to secure the job if he is up against any single one of Coppell, Hoddle or Di Matteo? I suspect not.

We had the fixtures to secure the points to put us neck and neck with Bournemouth in 6th place. Instead we dropped six points against Swindon and Walsall. In his defence, this season's team has been as reliable as a 70s Leyland, but the mixed bag of results gives the club the opportunity to make the biggest possible statement of intent with regards to the next managerial appointment.

I hope Hoddle is off the list, I would sooner have Nicky boy here than him. Hoddle is a no no.

For once Brentford, please do not leave us underwhelmed. I know abee wont have read this plea (apparently his blood pressure can't cope with my posts) but I hope that they're thinking along these lines in the boardroom as well. I have confidence the right appointment will be made. Exciting times.

Sadly I think NF's playing days are over regardless of who is appointed. Even if it isn't him it would be very difficult for him to drop back into the ranks now. Its a shame because on his rare opportunities this season he probably looked our sharpest striker.

Personally I don't think NF or Warburton are the men to take us forward, but if the board interview everyone they wanted and those two, or either one are deemed the best man for the job then so be it, and roll on next season.

I know this is off the subject but yesterday i was thinking to myself, AS really was odd. Sam Saunders, Dave and Richard lee were all left on sidelines at some point by AS and if we didnt have them now god knows where we would be!!!! I mean each of these players were probably at one point thinking to themselves that they want to leave GP. We have alot to thank NF for imho!!!!

Regarding Lee I think we should thank the traffic on the M4 from keeping Hamer from getting here on time.

Oh come on, how can you be so categorical? Anyway the point is that AS did the heavy lifting in the JPT in getting the team to the point where NF was able to take it over the finishing line. And that under NF the team lost in the final.

To be fair a good time to be a Brighton supporter.
After years of ground share and that awful old athletics club, they've got a great looking new stadium, 16,000 season tickets sold and a side well equipped to more than survive in The Championship. The Chairman took a risk in Poyet and invested in the players he wanted and it has paid off handsomely at the first time of asking.

Let's hope we do the same next year!

Keeping my fingers crossed it's Fozzy and the Breadman. I can't see how any ' name' could have produced a better turnround in style and performance than Fozzy has. I didn't want AS to get the gig and never had the same confidence that he could come to grips with the job [ initially AS proved me wrong]. Fozzy is a different kettle of fish IMO and has been from the start. I think we've unearthed

Just out of interest why shouldn't someone like Parkinson who Colchester up or Di Matteo who took MK Dons to 3rd place and West Brom up to Prem be considered?

For the record I'd like Coppell back, always have hoped he'd make himself available but not a scooby as to if he has thrown his hat in the ring.

Regardless of their pedigree, it's got to be someone who buys into the Brentford Project. We don't want a flash Harry that can lift the players for 15 matches, then sink without trace; we don't want a manager who can spend a lot on short-term players to make it look good; we want long-term sustainability, not instant gratification.

I genuinely believe that the board have taken that all into account and why along with MB they are taking their time to ensure they set the right criteria. If it's a lengthy, exhaustive process that means we get the best person.
I trust the panel and they do know what's best for this club so let's just wait for the puff of smoke out of the top of the Braemar chimey pot

To my mind any manager worth his salt demands total control of footballing matters. NF deserves serious consideration for the job and I assume that's what he's getting. He got us to the Wembley final somewhat against the odds, turned round a potentially disastrous slide, and has produced a team trying to play football. Not a bad start to a managerial career. I know I don't -- it must be about 1983 that we last consistently saw constructive football played on the ground.

Coppell....Long ball game? :scratch: I think he mixed and matched, as most good managers do, his side was the last 'footballing' side we had.

Sounds about right to me :yes:

NF doesn't do the coaching anyway, MW does that, NF picks and chooses who to play, A DoF, as you say, does the 'paperwork' and keeps check on football at all levels.

copps full or part time ? maybe the latter would appeal to him more than the day to day slog. but what exactly would he do as dof ?

I think Coppell would be ideal on a part time basis to advise Fozzy and Warbs when needed and maybe to look out for potential signings. I have great respect for Copppell but let's not forget he's getting on a bit [ like me] and wouldn't be a longer term solution and indeed, may not want a longer term commitment.
