Another Manager Poll

Chris Hughton, Steve Coppell, Alan Curbishley, Dean Holdsworth and Keith Hill all have one thing in common. That is, that none of them are realistic propositions as Brentford's new manager. And over a hundred people have completely screwed this poll by voting for them. Well done :sorted:.

One or two of them maybe, but we know nothing certain about anything. Some may now need a job!

Another Manager Poll

I would dispute that.
So. Hyperth hiperfetic hippofetic ................ let's suppose, for example, Gary Johnson took the gig and then a month or so later decided to feck off to Reading or something. thus dropping us back in the sh*te, would this not make him something of a scumbag in your eyes?

Swindon have signed grella from Leeds on loan, that is really good deal. Why the f cant we sign strikers that actually have a half decent strike record!!!!

Another Manager Poll

Graham Taylor? My hatred for him has diminished over 18 years. He could lead us to four successive promotions maybe?

Another Manager Poll

After voting for Forster in the first poll I've changed my mind. Nobody's mentioned the Gaddafi dream team - The boy had something to do with Juve & the old man will fill GP with fit lady bodyguards/stewards & clamp down on any moaning from the terraces.

A lifestyle decision on your part that has my total admiration. It doesn't, however, answer my question to any great satisfaction .

Another Manager Poll

Of the ones on the list probably Chris Hughton. Of the realistic ones Gary Johnson - if he wants to make Forster assistant manager that's up to him but Forster doesn't have the experience to take us to where we want to be, he may be a great manager one day, but it's too early. I don't care if Gary Johnson's a bully or not - his results at Yeovil and Bristol City speak for themselves. Not bothered by what happened at Posh as wouldn't have to work with people like McAnthony and it's different level anyway.

Hughton and Curbishley are probably unrealistic but they are certainly not beyond the realms of possibility. Particuarly the latter. I'm surprised how few people have picked up on the comment Mills supposedly made before the Plymouth match on Beesworld about someone he hadn't spoken to in five years being interested in the position. Curbishley could have taken several Championship jobs since leaving West Ham and possibly some in the Premier League but he hasn't and I'm sure it's not down to a lack of offers. He's certainly holding out for somewhere he feels is right and where he's going to have the full backing of the board; that may well be us, but then it might not. As I said, he could see us as a new long term 'project' (and we're certainly a very ambitious club with excellent resources behind the scenes) just like Charlton were all those years ago. To dismiss him as unrealistic is a bit premature if you ask me.

Hughton, agreed. Unrealistic and will get a job in top two divisions sooner rather than later. But again, given our strong position off the pitch, you never know until you ask. Coppell, yes absolutely no chance at all. Holdsworth, we could get him if we wanted him I'm sure but I don't think we do/will want him to be honest. And why is Keith Hill unrealistic? He applied for the Palace job so he's not outrageously loyal to Rochdale or anything and I'm sure we are much better equipped to help him reach his managerial ambitions than his current club (the same goes for Tisdale, although there is one poster on here adament he will never come to us under any circumstances whatsoever - random view to hold so must be something in it?).

Have you seen/heard him in an interview? Bit 'Barry Fry' mate :suspect:.

Now there's a thought .

Another Manager Poll

Why haven't we made G Johnson manager? It seems we'll want a yes man , something i suppose he is not with his successful record.

Another Manager Poll

Sky Sports think Magilton is in contention for Bradford job. Don't think he'd be suitable for us, no better than Scott.

Why do you say that?

Another Manager Poll

There is no hurry. Every point Nicky and Bread bring in makes it better for us to choose a superior candidate. We are not going down.

Matthew's money makes this a very nice job indeed, let us aim high and surprise a few old tossers on here with the quality of candidates and the high aspirations of our board and backer.:)

Another Manager Poll

Johnson is his own man and likes to do things his way . This may make the hierachy a little nervous.

Another Manager Poll

I don't think that is the reason we haven't got Johnson in. I reckon we're aiming a bit higher this time but that's to be seen.

that's what the arsenal fans said when arsene was appointed!

Those in the know, however knew that Arsene was a very highly regarded manager (albeit with Monaco and in Japan, but still successful all the same)

If you need an answer suggest you check what Hull, Leicester and Bradford fans think of Taylor.
Seems that he was ok at clubs with no budget as was the case when at Brighton and Gillingham but the football was effective but rarely attractive

i think i have my answer!

re scott to bradford? would be a good move for him but then i guess that's another thread...

Does Victor Chandler sit on the interview board - They now go Johnson 4/5 with Forster 11/10. Skybet have also trimmed Nicky from 1/3 into 1/2 & go 6/4 Johnson....12/1 the field. Two-horse race with the bookies. By the way Stan Bowles is 100's.

can someone keep an eye on stanley and see if he sticks anything on himself... ideally let me know before the odds go down anything lower than 66s.

More to the point, he inherited good teams from other managers (from Pulis at Gillingford) and his Wycome side completely bottled it against us in the Championship season having led for much of the season. This would be a backward step from Andy Scott.

I don't think the bookies have a clue on this one. Look at the names beyond Forster and Johnson... Wise, Allen, Hasselbaink, Trollope, Stimson, Ling, Staunton, Curle?! Ludicrous. They're just plucking names from a big pile of lower league sh*te because in their minds, we're still 'little Brentford'. That's fine by me. I reckon a lot of people (including many of our own fans) are in for a shock when they see what a progressive club we become over the next couple of years. We don't need to consider the likes of Taylor and Newell anymore!

As for Johnson and Forster being favourite, it'll be down to Johnson being openly VERY interested and from other supporters points of views (the 'little Brentford' mob), we'd be mad to not get him in asap - but we haven't. We're keeping him waiting and I still think he'll end up at Swindon before long. And Forster is doing well as caretaker, bookies always have the successful caretaker amongst the favourites to cover their arses. I reckon they're as clueless as us though!

Another Manager Poll

Isn't in the bookmaker's interest to create a market where the favourite doesn't win?

How do you know we are keeping Johnson waiting ?
I think, as Andrew Mills indicated, we are working on our shortlist of 6 and getting the contract details nailed tightly down
The criteria of manager we are looking for has not been revealed, but I would wager Johnson is not in the magic "list of 6"

p.s. Not sure who I would wager with by the way, as it is uinprovable either way !

Another Manager Poll

I meant that in the past we'd have spoke to him on the Thursday afternoon, unveiled him at a press conference Friday morning and he'd be in the dugout come Saturday. I do think he's got a good track record but as you say, I don't think he'll be on the shortlist. Although I suppose until this shortlist is actually drawn up, every candidate is 'waiting'.

Another Manager Poll

All that matters is we give the job to a Manager who likes his team to play passing football, plays players in the best position and can attract the best players to the club...sounds simple ? If that man is Nicky Forster then I'm happy. We don't want another Hoofball maniac in charge !!

Another Manager Poll

The longer it takes the better cos that means we are undertaking a proper search and recruitment process. And that we are doing well enough under NF to buy us time to make the right decision.

Another Manager Poll

what a badly worded referendum.

is it too late to vote in the previous managers poll?

Watching the training today Forster n Mark do a great job/session. Plenty of passing n moving, looked very professional. Can we get much better then the current managerial team? They will have a very tough time tomorrow picking 11 from the 20 odd fit players.

Well, he had a punch up with one player, spat at another one, told Nicky were to go, apart from that he was fine ;)

No, honestly he looked like he was getting on with the lads to me.

My mate who's a Leicester fan HATES Peter Taylor. I think Ade Akinbyi as a record signing still lives in nightmares up there...

My point entirely mate, everywhere he's been where he's had a budget he's spent it on sh*te, produced teams that play sh*te football and left the club in a sh*te position

Have heard it said he's an 'orrible **** as well, but can't say that for certain...

Another Manager Poll

Sorry to appear a bit dim, but I assume that their is a budget for the management team. If a new manager is selected with the assistant's position being offered to NF as has been suggested, will the club be able to afford the bread-man as well, and if not would NF accept the job?
