I believe that he is referring to the announcement of the Development Squad and he has not, and of course, would not, post or tweet anything regarding the identity of the new manager before the news is made official.

I would like to think so, but I am not getting much of a vibe that any announcement is imminent, are you? If anything, I am suspicious that a managerial appointment may be as far away as ever. Some favoured candidates (and formerly favoured candidates i.e. Johnson) are back in work, at least for now, and other managers will find themselves out of work over the next fortnight. It all means a rather interesting muddle raising the unpredictability of who the next manager will be. The only remaining constants are Hoofroyd and Coppell.

Monday would seem the right day and time to tell us who the winner is. I hope the club will do this rather than keeping everyone hanging on.

It wouldn't have been fair on NF to anyone to have annouced it any earlier.

If NF doesn't get it I would think he will leave the club and try his luck elsewhere.
He won't stay on as player or that he will take another position internally having been no1.

A decision needs to be made and fast. a quick look at the BBC website over the past two days or so would show clubs already releasing players who are surplus to requirements. Brighton have released 6 squad members today. I am not saying that any of them are suitable, I do not have the comprehensive knowledge of some members who post on here, but the plain fact is the longer we wait the less chance we have of picking up anyone worthwhile.
For goodness sake the board have had plenty of time since it became obvious that NF should not be just an automatic choice. If it is to be Nicky the well and good but just make your minds up and give whoever it is the chance of picking up bargains rather than the bleedin dross that we normally end up by sitting on the fence, or the usual tribe of crap loanees

Just a spanner in the works. You don't need a big name, as Phil Holder proved when he took us up to the 2nd division for the only time in my Bees supporting years. However, interviewing only doesn't surely give the full picture as the interviwers can't tell until the prospective manager is in a competitive situation how he would deal with players after poor performances/defeats. NF for instance is a 'nice guy' and seems cool on the touchline during games, but would he be able to be 'read the riot act' if necessary in a forceful way. In other words, possibly lose his temper and shout at 'em at halftime in the dressing room when we are 3-0 down. Interviewees can talk a good interview, but unless the interviewers actually know the interviewee, it might not all stack up in reality - when the crunch comes.

Hate to be harsh about phil holder but most of that side was put together by perryman .Thought we would have gone up whoever was in charge.

The transfer window is open until the end of August so managers have a chance to tweak their squads during the early part of the season. Nicky Adams joined during August so did Robbie Simpson, if memory serves. Also as all contracts end at the end of June why would any player worth his salt jump to the first place that made an offer (unless it really was too good to be true) That is the reason why Macdonald moving to Aldershot doesn't ring true. Even if BFC doesn't think he is worth a place he would be foolish not to talk to other clubs as well as Aldershot. He would have in effect until 30 August to get a deal.

Simpson, Adams, hardly a case for what you are suggesting! Adams was a square peg in a round hole that we got rid of to Rochdale and Simpson except for flattering to deceive in his first few games didn't exactly set the world on fire did he?

Re Read my post. Just because an announcemnt hasn't been made doesn't mean nothing is being done. I'm sure the next manager knows he has the job and is already putting all his wants and needs in place. My other points are that until 1st July no released player is actually able to sign for anyone, plus of course Michael Turner was a terrible late signing on loan and eventually for us wasn't he? We see this each season on the GPG, demands and panic. I'm convinced we have a new manager already preparing for next season and with plenty of irons in the fire, alhough unless you are told you will never belive it, so I suppose we should let all our competitors know our shopping list?

Any manager worth their salt has a go to set of scouts, agents, players, coaches, clubs and pals within the game. That side of the appointment should take care of itself.
The big issue will be raising interest in a mid table league one club by announcing a decent managerial appointment before the summer break.
From my experience more then half of the people who tell me they are buying season tickets generally don't, if they haven't looked in to it by late May, early June, and that interest could be peaked by a decent manager arriving.

Martin Allen has already 'signed' Izzy Macleod and another lad for next season (in his head, although he saw fit to say as much)
