Another Manager Poll

Just been watching Kieth Hill on Dale Player. He said some really complimentary things about the Bees. He never whinged or made excuses either. You can understand why he is so popular. He was saying the play offs are still on for his side together with Bournemouth and even said we still had an outside chance. But, in his opinion the dark horses were Exeter. He really is a nice guy, you cant help but like him.

Very likeable but also very successful in the context of where he's been operating. Prefers to play a passing game. Took Dale out of the bottom league for the first time since 1974 and the next season has them pushing for the play-offs!! All that with a squad of 19 players, very little money and crowds of under 3,000. The man we're looking for?

I have huge respect for Hill for all the reasons you state. But Fozzy's team outplayed his side yesterday. If Fozzy had a longer run in charge I've no doubt we'd be in the playoff zone.

I admire your optimism but going for the apprentice NF is a huge punt with very long odds. Someone like Hill has served his apprenticeship and shown he can cope successfully with the pressure of management. Still a gamble, football follows its own script, but with decent odds.

I listened to Hill on their site , he keeps going on and on about how knackered his team were and how small his squad is. I think a few games ago it may of been a different result to yesterdays

Yep. Would make a perfect Bees manager.

If Boothroyd is appointed I will not be getting a season ticket....

he does sound ideal but there are 2 big questions........

Why would he want to leave his beloved Dale ?
And what could we offer him that Rochdale can't ?

Aidy Boothroyd

Blimey. There's another Boothroyd fancier! As has been said before, if Aidy Boothroyd is made manager, watch the attendances fall dramatically and ST renewals drop. I hope we're aiming for better. Unless you liked the football under AS? Then the Boothroyd club will enjoy his appointment. :sorted:

A good budget for a start.

Maybe taken Rochdale as far as he can?

He was stood behind the Beesplayer commentators all game. Mmmmmmm!! I wonder!!!

All managers of clubs of that size have to move on at some point to further their own careers. We would offer him a higher wage, a bigger transfer and wage budget and in that, a better chance of managing in the Championship. Rochdale are having a fantastic season but like Bournemouth, I'm unsure if they could replicate it next season a la Swindon.

For me, he is the ideal man for the job, assuming we can't attract the likes of Di Matteo. Just hope Rochdale don't get promoted or a Championship club come in for him!

Theres an old saying in football that goes its not what you know its who you know and Aidy Boothroyd must know a lot of people. One of the least talented managers in the game and i cannot understand why he is in football. When he got the sack at Cov the chairman stated that he didnt like his style of football, well thats what you get from him.If you like long ball he is your man, like tippy tappy forget it.

Agree with WP on this. At Colchester Away last season for the 3-3 draw and they were 6th and going for the play offs, talking to a ColU fan after the game he said that Aidy Boothroyd was the worst football manager they had had for years, saying that the football was kick and rush hoofball, zero entertainment and that games they had won, were with no or little football played. He hoped he went in the summer as he thought play offs were a pipedream, he was proved right on both counts!

If we ever employed this bloke, then the blueprint and criteria for our future academy won't be pass and move but "hoof and chase". Ask Richard Lee what he taught him at Watford! :D

Boothroyd makes Scotty's style look like Pep Guardiola's.

Sorry I just don't get what Nicky Forsters done since taking over that makes him such a strong candidate in some peoples eyes, a few good results, a few indifferent ones and some downright poor ones, WE NEED SOMEONE TO TAKE OVER AS MANAGER WITH SOME SORT OF TRACK RECORD AS A MANAGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Why ???? Johnson has a track record but look whats happened and the league is littered with managers with track records that have failed and vice verca, at this juncture unless the board have got a realy fantastic candidate I cant see why NF cant have the gig, certainly in the period since taking over he has by and large got more out of these players than his predecessor and with his own team may just suprise us all. Also there is no need to shout cos I may be old but the hearing hasnt gone yet, unlike a lot of the rest of me!!!

The more i think if Keith Hill is available we should give it ago, if not give NF a chance.
The only 2 i would bother with.

As far as track records go l doubt if we have had many over the years who could improve on NFs win per game ratio,so while your at it give me the names of 3 MANAGERS WITH SOME SORT OF TRACK RECORD SHhhhhhh now night night will have a look inthe morning at your list.

And when Forster IS appointed neither will I!

Now you're just sulking!
Boothroyd is well known for getting his teams to play awful football. Forster's record over the last few months hardly suggests we would have to endure a fate that bad!

Hill will be at a Championship club this summer and deservedly so. He won't be coming here. If he could be brought here, he's the only alternative that I'd support instead of NF. Perhaps if we get in some good performances and results vs Saints and Hudders, the NF doubters might be won over. However, I reckon the doubters are in a minority. As far as I'm concerned, NF is the geezer and I don't see him as a greater risk than anyone else who might realistically come here. IMO, Fozzy is intelligent, tactically astute, has the right football philosophy, learns quickly and is very good at man management [ look at how he dealt with Simpson].
The turnround in playing style has been remarkable and he's brought a sinking ship to the brink of the playoffs.

I wanted to see Fozzy get the job at GP on a full time basis 6 weeks ago when I posed the question "will he be allowed to appoint his own backroom staff" or words to that affect and I understand that he is on the shortlist. Now I do not want to raise abees blood pressure, but I hope Fozzy goes into his interview and blows their balls off with his vision and plans for his and BFCs future and leaves the commitee, panel or whatever title they have no alternative but to offer him the post. Also the breadman has been shortlisted, according to Andrew Mills, and is that with NF or on his own?read it in the programme and decide for yourself. So if Fozzy gets the gig can he bring his own staff in or does he keep MW? or what if MW gets the gig,who joins him?Now I did post that I believe the future manager may already know the job is his, which abee, rightly, was not happy about, and through simple eliminations and asking questions and gaining answers and having a knowledge on how football clubs work a name comes up.And I hope its not true because it is not my choice. Its not rocket science either and you could all work it out yourselves.

Again, I have nothing personal against you but these type of posts do you no favours. If it involves asking questions, gaining answers and having a knowledge on how football clubs work, I'd wager not all of us will be able to work it out for ourselves. But seeing as you have apparently worked it out, I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to hear your prediction. Then we shall see in due course if you were right, won't we?

I just can't see this being anywhere near correct, a because it's the Sun and b because his reputation and legacy at clubs since Watford has been atrocious and our board wil, have doen their due diligence I'm sure.

There's no way Boothroyd will come here. Firstly Benham will have a say in this and he wants football played. Secondly no point developing an academy if the ultimate object is to launch the ball. Hoofball is on the way out now[ how did it come in ?]. It's passe, easily defended against and you only need to look at the teams in the playoff zone to see that they are footballing sides. By the way, I suggest we no longer refer to our current stylle as tippy tappy-let's just call it football cos that's what it is.

One season ticket would definitely not be renewed if he came here.

Another Manager Poll

Usually and there are exceptions I know (Roy Hodgson couldn't get Liverpool ticking but has done well with WBA more his type of team/style) the manager is appointed to work with the staff in place and hence reflects the style of the squad.

I think the board have been given a problem by Nicky - the squad we have were basically built to play in Andy Scott's style and I think many of them are contracted for next season (no doubt someone will have that information) so there isn't much room to change the core of the team. Yet Nicky has shown the board that some of the current squad can play football in a different style (thanks for that Nicky).

Therefore, do the board go for Nicky (or another more enjoyable style of play manager) or go for a "replacement" that they believe will work more closely with the type of squad built by Andy Scott.

Time will tell

I would not be happy with it but I guess AB is a possibility. Breadman came from Watford, didn't the youth guy Osi A (?) have something to do with them, & they have a v good youth system - although tbf this was probably established prior to AB's time with them??

As I said, I wouldn't be happy with it, but it could be a possiblility.

Please Lord not Aidy Boothroyd!

That would be the end of football as Nick has shown us and back to the worst 'hoofball' that we have 'enjoyed' during the AS era.

I will offer 100-1 to anyone out there who wants to stick a tenner or more on Aidy Hoofroyd being our new manager, I will throw in free bum sex with Kettering Bee and a free burger from Smiffy with as much Imodium that you will need.
I think we can all sleep easy over this one, nothing to see here other than The Sun not having a clue just how ambitous and how important "football" is to MB and the others, it pisses me off as this sort of rumour means more apathy amongst us.
