After reading god knows how many posts on this subject today,the conclusion is that we havnt a clue,have we? All this speculating and the last poster does not want Fozzy.Why?.Not that I think he will get the job anyway because I will stick by my conclusion that the man who will be our boss already knows it is his but that doesnt stop Fozzy applying for the post that he feels he has a right to aply for.That makes 2 cv's in the post then...........forget Tisdale for the final time and Di Matteo,Curbishley and Hughton,they aint coming.

Ok for the last time I will explain why.He was offered the Swansea job in 2009 after Martinez accepted the Wigan job.Tisdale accepted the post and then had second thoughts,after a nights kip he decided that he had unfinished business at Exeter so turned The Swans down and a f##king decent pay rise for him and his backroom crew.I had 7/1 he would take the job because I was ITK.If you want to think im talking sh*te about this then thats up to you so I have it on very good authority that he is going nowhere.Happy with that.I get to hear all sorts of sh*t that goes on in football and I have never posted an untruth on hear btw

At the moment I feel like we lack leadership both on and off the field in terms of the team management. We appear to have also lost structure on the pitch, we seem all over the place. Going forward I would like a strong manager with excellent leadership (and experience), and I would like a decent captain on the pitch that has the ability/drive to change things around when they are not happening, ala Swindon and Walsall. IMO these are pre-requisites for a successful team in league 1, but imo we dont have either at present.

What is it with the Tisdale love -in. OK so Exeter play some nice tippy tappy football at times but where are they in the League.

I see no evidence that Tisdale has what it takes to get a club promoted from this division irrespective of whether he chooses to dress up as though he is just about to lead the Foxhunt.

I'm fully on board with the fact we want someone who will try to play the beautiful game ( eg not Boothroyd etc) and I am also in the camp that thinks NF doesn't have the experience and would be too much of a gamble but I just don't get this Tisdale thing at all.

I do however think we ought to get a move on with the appointment.

We couldn't change the game, I'm pissed off with that and fed up with watching us go into a rut with little or no idea of how to get out of it during games. We now need a manager who can sign better players than Millwall reserves and deal with them in an adult way but most importantly get them playing and have a plan or two on how to change games when things aren't going our way. Mission impossible, who knows.

Didn't one of the posters on here who sits on the board mention something along these lines that the person in mind is currently in a job?

I think this came from a Chronicle interview with Andrew Mills, in which he said the ideal candidate was not necessarily unemployed, or words to that effect.....

Exactly my point, in total control one fantastic strike and they panicked and starting being bizzarre ( pim trying to bring down planes, Reed struggling with 5 yard balls, Simpson's mental cross etc etc ).

There is some talent there but what they need is someone who will take them to task for being fannies. For the most part of my 35 years watching you could rely on 100 % effort even if the basics were lacking. Some of this lot, at times only want to play when they have a comfortable lead or are in front.

The more i think about that the more i think we need an older more experienced man who knows when to arse kick and when to cuddle.

Whether that will be Nicky - who is a shoe in for the job, unless he declines it - or not, remains to be seen.

The choice of manager is very important for Brentford.
A wholesale clearout of players would set us back another 2 years in our dreams for the Championship.....I hope the club is courting a big name such as Hughton or Wilkins or someone who can work with the current crop, to maximise their potential.

Nick I agree and the passing game is the way ahead but the default to hoofball is because we lack leadership on the pitch and confidence to take the game by the scruff of the neck unless we start well. So far for me, bar the odd exception, the better the opposition, the more urgency and higher up the park we press and take the game to teams.
Sheff Weds, Charlton, Peterborough(they got lucky pen), Orient, Soton away all saw us fly out of the blocks and dictate games, in fact only Oldham springs to mind when we started well and got worse. Trouble is when we sit back and see how the game pans out we hand the initiative to the opposition and we end up struggling to seize it back and default to long punts to get nearer to the goal quicker.
If we had an old hand, experienced leader capable of taking charge and bullying, protecting, coaching, intimidating and dominating referees and opposition we'd be a lot better than we are now.
It's no surprise that the talented kids like Reed, Schlupp and Byrne aren't setting the division alight, they need to be brought on as rookies and there's no one setting an example or nurturing them. Put Reed alongside McCann at Peterboro or even Douglas at Swindon and bet you'd see a better end product.

At Wembley, we didn't start as is customary but even with all the possession in the second half we never dominated and lacked any real urgency, playing possession football across the back and allowing Carlisle time to funnel back and protect their box which resulted in us having shot that hit the post and one missed header from a dead ball. Why wasn't someone grabbing players by the scruff of the neck and urging them on, putting the fear of God in kids and players out f contract or on loan that this is it boys..................because we lack leadership and the passion that us fans have in bucketloads.

End of rant but find a Captain quick, throw in a centre forward who knows where the net is and the good football might just deliver results and the promotion we crave.

Totally agree BB, when I am asked what makes a good manager I think of someone who can maximise the resources he has at whatever level to get the best out of them, able to adopt a plan B when required, and knows when to kick arse/cuddle as previously mentioned. Ideally he would have a mini version of himself on the pitch (ie the captain) to ensure that his plans were executed. I don't think we particularly have a bad crop of players because we have seen Pim, Schlupp, Reed, Weston etc etc play well, if only in flashes, just not on a consistent basis. And it seems to me that when they play well or give 100% its because the player(s) decide they want to, or are in the mood for whatever reason. Its not good enough. Whether they are loan or contracted players should not matter, everyone should be playing for their future. I like Forster as a person and player, but in all honesty this is a challenge that has come too soon for him

Brighton had a bigger budget than us but you're right, maybe we are what most people see us as and unless we have a big budget for PR, it's performances on the park that will change impressions.

I was referring to their contracted players... those they have to pay all their wages. They've had loans as well on top of that; Lua Lua earlier in the season comes to mind and Chris Wood from WBA. I don't think we're in the same league financially and we'll not be in their league next season!

They're the only two loan players but yeah I take your point. I knew they had some cash injected by a gambling man but so had we. They were only 8th favourites to win the league but what do bookies know.
