Ashes 3rd Test

Ashes 3rd Test

ha, very good. i like that.

Ashes 3rd Test

Durham is confirmed as an Ashes Test venue in 2013..along with The Oval. Which leaves three still to come. Lords will be one, given the success of Cardiff they should get one.. That means a straight fight between Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham.

They won't go for Cardiff and Durham IMHO, they'll want to maintain the history of the series.

My bet would be Old Trafford and Trent Bridge - by rotation if nothing else.

Old Trafford has one of the Indian series.

Ashes 3rd Test

I meant Ashes rotation.

Headingley didn't have one in 05 but does now.

Old Trafford and Trent Bridge do not have one this time.

Cardiff, Edgbaston, Headingley are getting ODIs, Trent Bridge is getting two T20 games and Headingley is also home to one of the two NZ tests that summer. So yes it looks as it the way the way is cunningly  left open for Old Trafford and Trent Bridge

It won't be long before The Rose Bowl is added to the ever growing list for Tests (Which is all good news). It could soon see a similar rotation system like that in India. Plus we could see that Lords is not always guaranteed a Test against a touring side.

Plus if the situation in Pakistan does not improve...How many Tests could they play in England..Could some horse-trading be done with the likes of Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds with large ethnic populations.

inspection at 1530. doesn't look good. :bound:

So does London. So does Cardiff. So does every major city

Ashes 3rd Test

Aussie camp don't seem too pleased with Hughes announcing the line up on his twitter page!

Ashes 3rd Test

The toss will be at 4.30pm with play starting at 5pm, weather permitting!

I wonder whether this could be a win toss and bowl first wicket?

I think Australia will have to bowl first if they win the toss.

With the forecast for Saturday you've got to be looking at a 300 over Test match - once it rains that ground will flood again.

The only way for a result is for one team to get skittled in one or both of their innings. There will be no more likely time than this afternoon for that IMHO.

Ashes 3rd Test

Australia have won the toss and will bat (Ponting probably is afraid of what happened 4 years ago)

I hope you are correct WEB.

Ashes 3rd Test

Shane Watson averages 4 when opening in first class games. Watch him get 100 now.

Ashes 3rd Test

If I was Ponting I would have bowled. He suggested it would do something this afternoon and if we bowl well it could be an entertaining last couple of hours.

Ashes 3rd Test

Big surprise and England have a real chance to gain an early advantage, if we can take 3-4 wickets in this session we can gain real momentum for the rest of the test. I think England will be happy to be bowling to Watson.

Ashes 3rd Test

get Watsn early and not only do we put Punter under pressure to bat, but mentally the decision to replace Hughes and not have Hussey opening will be playing on his mind

Ashes 3rd Test

Haddin out with a broken finger, which makes their batting order even weaker. This is England's test to win!

Ashes 3rd Test

Broad and Onions were again dissapointing, and even Flintoff struggled with his length. That said, if Australia are going to win this test, they are going to have to bowl much, much better than they did at Lords, and the weather probably won't give them the time too.

What I didn't get was taking Swann off as soon as he took a wicket and not bowling him at all after?

Ashes 3rd Test

Hard to know what the pitch is like as England hardly put any balls on the right part of it.

We had a real chance to take the game by the scruff of the neck in a short session and failed to do so.

Fair play to Australia, they were agressive in terms of team selection and when they got out onto the pitch - if they continue to be agressive they might make up for the lost time.

Ashes 3rd Test

With the weather forecast for Saturday and Monday the way it is (heavy rain) the game could effectively be a three day game, three and half with lost overs made up. If we get a full day of play tomorrow, Australia will want to get upto the 450 mark, unless they are bowled out.

Australia may want to bat once and then have just two days to take 20 wickets, unlikely.

Ashes 3rd Test

the batsmans Juggling, the bowler's Onions.

COME ON ENGLAND & WALES!!!!!!

:homer:

I think the run-ups didn't work for our opening bowlers. Flintoff seemed to be over-reaching on his final stride and both of them were trying to vary their run ups to avoid what became the sawdust.

Fair play to the Aussies, batting first was a brave decision and they have set out their stall for the rest of the series - to bat first and bat once.

Ashes 3rd Test

Onions two wickets in two balls. ON A HAT TRICK

Ashes 3rd Test

What a start...... Watson plum and Hussey leaves a straight one and gets his off stump knocked out :D

Ashes 3rd Test

The normal formula is add two wickets to a sides total and that will give a reflection of the score from the bowlers perspective.

Ashes 3rd Test

Flippin' eck... miss the first ten minutes and it's 128-3

Ashes 3rd Test

Turned it on at 11 to see adverts and then realised they'd lost a wicket. lol

GOTTIM

Ponting c Prior b Onions 38

163/4

We're now in an excellent position. Marcus North comes in. He's coming in with a bit of pressure at 163/4 instead of 331/4

Ashes 3rd Test

Great bowling from Onions - brought England right back into the game.

Another wicket or two before lunch and Australia will be right in the mire.

Ashes 3rd Test

The next man in will be the debutant Manou who'll be nervous. Really can put him under pressure.

Ashes 3rd Test

Thank god that some of the gobshites on here don't pick the team or choose who to throw the ball to. Onions has a future, give the guy a chance.

Ashes 3rd Test

Onions is predominantly a wicket to wicket bowler. He'll make the batsmen play.

Ashes 3rd Test

Blimey! I go out for an hour or so and this happens.

Come on England and Wales!

KP NUTS. NOW ONIONS. WHATEVER NEXT. lol lol lol lol lol lol lol
