Ashes 3rd Test

Clarke gone. Lets put pressure on the newbie

'Stockily built' is that a nice way of saying he's a fat ****?

Ashes 3rd Test

Surprised Manou came in before Johnson, he averages about 25 in first class games which means he's probably a decent number 8 or 9 but not a test number 7.

Ashes 3rd Test

Broad, in general, has got his length wrong this series. He has the talent but he's bowled too short for my liking. I'd bring Freddie on now for a couple of overs at Manou.

Ashes 3rd Test

GOTTIM. Great catch from Prior, could have gone to Strauss. Bye Bye North.

FFS I just popped into the kitchin to empty the bin and another one goes.

Ashes 3rd Test

Jimmy on a hat-trick now. Bye Bye Johnson.

Ashes 3rd Test

Anderson on a hattrick.

:banghead:

and again I missed it.

I'm off again.

Ashes 3rd Test

another one gone...YES....202 for 7.....

Ashes 3rd Test

Bearing in mind that Hughes was dropped when there were doubts over Hussey and Johnson.

This innings:

Hussey 0 (1)
Johnson 0 (1)

This is certainly England's session. We need to knock them off pretty quickly after lunch. 203/8.

77/7 from the morning session.

Ashes 3rd Test

The Met office admit that they've messed up again...& we can all get the BBQ's out. ;)

Ashes 3rd Test

incredible stuff. we should make them follow on!!!!!! :thetruth:

Ashes 3rd Test

From a Australian perspective it's a huge afternoon for Mitchell Johnson with the ball. He needs to come to the table. Will Ponting have the confidence to give him the new ball.

Ashes 3rd Test

Whoa Jimmy Jimmy, Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy ANDERSON

5fer for Jimmy. Great stuff.

Ashes 3rd Test

263 all out.

Not as good as it could have been but brilliant compared to how we stood this morning.

We'll have around 50 overs to bat tonight so the game will have moved on, despite the rain.

I thought it was brilliant, clearly I don't particularly understand this game :D

Ashes 3rd Test

Sporting Index go 341 - 356 for Englands first innings...with 1 wicket down already would you.

Ashes 3rd Test

Now 301 - 316

Ashes 3rd Test

Last two wickets put on 50 or so when the previous eight had put on 70.

I'm greedy but I had 220 all out in my head at lunch.

I'm with you there. I'm sure the Aussies despite a late brief fightback from the tail will be disappointed but those extra runs will give them some confidence. England have failed to truly ram home the advantage, such as getting those last two out quickly. We have the advantage but we could have put ourselves in a better position. We might have won the 2nd test but to go from 200-1 to 425ao was disappointing. We had the potential to get to 550 wh

Sweaky bum time for Bell.

Ashes 3rd Test

At this rate, we're going to get a full match in.

Forecast for Saturday and Monday seems to have improved dramatically.

England would like the game to finish the way they are going *touch wood*

Depends how the ground deals with any rain that falls I think.

Ashes 3rd Test

Bell has just hit a 6. Has he got Pietersen's shoes on?

Ashes 3rd Test

and some man's beer went all over the ball.............

Ashes 3rd Test

116-2 looks like close of play. A low scoring game might allow a result as the weather forecast has slightly improved. If we can get a lead of around a 100 then it will be very difficult for Australia to win.

I think Ian Bell owes Rudi Koertzen a beer! What a shocking decision!

Ashes 3rd Test

Does this mean England are winning?

dropped 5 rows in front of where i was sitting today. Cracking 1st session! not sure if its the best ever 1st session for England? but what a day out. If youve not experienced a cricket day out then i really recommend you do do. Been every year to at least 1 test for the last 5 years. :sorted:

No play on Saturday so if the forcast is the same for Monday we'll be laughing, if we aren't already, and still 1 up with three to play.

Ashes 3rd Test

No play today has probably increased England's chances of winning. If we can bat the whole of tomorrow and get a lead of around 150 then we can pile the pressure on the aussies on the fifth day with them trying to bat the day to save the game. But with rain expected on monday it'll probably be a draw....

Ashes 3rd Test

Aussies session now. 2 wickets in this hour. 159/4

Ashes 3rd Test

Next target is getting in front of the Aussies then put them in tomorrow and see what happens, they will not be able to win the test so lets put them under pressure.

Ashes 3rd Test

I'd be looking to be in front at the tea interval and then try and get a 150 run lead in the final session declaring with the Aussies facing a difficult half hour session to get through. That way there can either only be an England win or a draw bearing in mind the Aussies would have to bat the day to save the test (but might be weather affected).

Ashes 3rd Test

We won't be getting a 150 run lead thats for sure, in fact I would suggest any lead would be decent at the moment.

The Aussies now have 5 sessions to take 15 wickets while putting a decent target. If we lost our final five wickets in the next five balls we'd probably be batting just after lunch and then have two sessions to chase 300 and/or not lose 10 wickets.

Only one team can win this match.

Well, we started today in a really strong position, but now I think it's down to the tail to see whether we can win. If we can quickly get about 50 -100 infront and get a wicket tonight I'd say an England win will be more likely than a draw.

Listening to TMS & watching the Betfair prices are great fun... Thirty minutes ago Australia were 25..now 90. :D

So far we're on schedule for where I think we need to be. 150 lead by the close is still doable though a hard slog. If Freddie can fire then it can be done.

Ashes 3rd Test

Freddie out. Time for us to try and get some very quick runs. 150 would have been perfect as it means they really do have to bat the day. If we can get a few lusty blows in before getting the Aussies.

Ashes 3rd Test

may as well play like it is a one dayer for the rest of the innings to put on as big a lead as possible as quick as possible. as mentioned above, aus wont be able to score enough runs to be able to post a big enough target to declare on.
