Personally, i think that many fans still don't know how the roles and responsibilites work within BFC and BU. This causes much confusion.
The Roy King appointment, on the other hand, was a PR issue. I can see no reason how on earth BFC were not aware that this would be a controversial appointment, but made no attempt to address what issues might be rasied over the weekend within their statement on Friday. Whether or not a minority would still disagree or not ois besides the point. As an organisation, you must be seen to appease and answer the questions of the masses, therefore reducing the number of critics. PR, in many cases, is about effective communication through understanding the market you are aiming at. Another football fan I know, who has read the statements and this thread asked me whether the club cared for the fans' views or not. I thought that from an outsider's perspective, this was quite telling about how the club communicate with the paying punters, those who are ready to fill the coffers with their hard-earned cash.
