Providing they can get decent fixtures, possibly against Premiership youth teams I see this as an excellent idea. What is the point of having a youth set up and developing them and then having them play reserve fixtures once a month (if they're lucky) against the likes of stiffs from L. Orient, Crawley, Aldershot, etc (no disrespect to them mind you). This is very positive news.
It's a truly groundbreaking initiative in lower league football and we should be proud it's happening at Brentford FC.

Seems a very good initiative ans allow us also to pick up and trial many more youngsters between 18 & 21 who have been released. Seems quite Hoddlesque.

I think MB had a hand in this...forward thinking etc....
how do you know it wasn't the new managers idea??
Or were they trying to hint that hoddle is going to be our new manager?

Great news! Hopefully bush Blake and reeves will be part of this squad, along with some premiership rejects.
Absolutely loving this! Can anyone confirm if older players will be able to play if they are coming bak from injury say?

I was told about this at the Southampton game and it sounds a great forward step for the club.
Hopefully, this scheme will attract some good quality youngters to the club and given time at least one or two of them come through to the first team eventually. We may even benefit from prem clubs willing to some half pay decent money if one of these young players really catches their eye.
HANG ON, HANG ON!!!
Who leaked? Come on, own up, we've had Club Directors boasting that leaks have been sealed, yeah righto!!
It was hardly a 'leak' as the Development Squad and our withdrawal from the Combination was discussed in Andrew Mills interview on Bees Player before the Southampton match. You can listen to it on the Bees Player highlights if you are interested.
....sorry...it was meant to be a joke...just that I cant be arsed doing the other quote thingy to get the smilies up...will try harder next time....
Would Simon Moore, for example, benefit from this?
M
Of course it was. I posted re your suggested 'leak' to save anyone else who may have taken you seriously jumping on the bandwagon .

Unlikely - this must have been months in the planning. More likely the work of Mark Warburton.
In fairness most of the initial squad will be premier league rejects (if the recent trialists are anything to go by).The big win of course is getting these players to Brentford at a young age instead of waiting for them to be spat out by the bigger clubs. This will certainly help.

MB has a vision and he seems to be carrying it through. :bound:
Exciting times ahead! About fecking time too!
Are we statistically, London's most sh*t club, apart from Barnet who don't really count?
