Boxing

That had to hurt.

Boxing

love that first punch :sorted:

Boxing

The ref was blatantly wrong to let Enzo continue....we was in no state to continue after the 1st knock down!

That is what is known as Hindsight bias my good man.

I dunno - look at Enzo when the ref is clasping his hands....he ain't there at all.....no chance of defending himself.....

i thought that, but i'm no Boxing expert so i don't know what's allowable. the bloke certainly finished him off alright.

If it is hindsight bias, then almost every reporter, journalist and commentator has gone down with it.

It's a tricky one for me. It was (with hindsight!!) the wrong call, but the referee has the latter part of 10 seconds to make a quick decision, knowing he is liable to get slated if he ends the fight early.

:imwith:

A good win against Maidana. Khan's reputation has gone up again IMO.

Agreed. Best fight I have seen for a long time - Khan proved himself to have a chin on him ... !

Still miss the Eubank/ Watson and Benn days ... now they were box office clashes..

Unfortunately, Boxing is deemed far too politically incorrect for the mainstream these days. :(

Boxing

Haye vs Wladimir Klitschko has been confirmed for either 25th June or July 2nd in Germany! Excellent, should be a great fight. Will definitely look to get tickets. Hopefully it'll be somewhere decent like Munich or Berlin!

Boxing

Just need a date for DeGale v Groves now, there's certainly no love lost there, they will tear into each other...

Boxing

did anyone watch the Khan fight, was he unlucky or just not good enough?:pop:

Boxing

Khan got docked 2 points which basically gave the fight to Petersen. Lost on two cards by 1 point. Boxed ok. Just a bit out muscled at times which Petersen took advantage of. Knocks Khan's plans a bit. May have to fight for a light welterweight title rematch or he takes the big plunge and moves up to welterweight. That puts him in contention with Mayweather, Paqciaou (sp) etc. a big decision for Khan and Roache.

Boxing

Exchange my vagueness with names but the co commentator on FiveLive, who had fought Khan recently was explainijng how he fights a bit dirty.

Khan was complaining in his post fight interview about Petersen doing exactly what he does.

Boxing

Khan surely couldn't compete against Mayweather or Paqciaou... he'll get killed

Boxing

Khan's always said he won't fight the Pacman as they're best buddies. That may have changed after Khan said he thought Pacman lost his last fight.

Either way, he'd get beat by him and slaughtered by Mayweather Jr.

Boxing

I like Amir Khan its a real shame he did not win last night but he did not deserve to win. I think he will get the rematch against Peterson and I think he will win it this. Lose and its goodbye career. I think those superfights are light years away. He's not in their class. Prince Naseem was much better in his prime.

Boxing

I scored the fight 113-112 to Khan.

It seems something very fishy has happened at the end of the fight. Judge no 1 forgot to deduct a point from Khan in round seven. He had scored the round 10-9 to Khan. So when the cards were totalled, Khan had won 112-114, 110-115, 113-112. On discovering the error, rather than change the score to 9-9 for that round, which would have given Khan a 112-113, 110-115, 113-112 win, they have changed it to a 10-8 round to Peterson, making it 113-112, 110-115, 113-112 to Peterson.

I suspect we haven’t heard the last of this, although I imagine boxing being boxing, it is probably more lucrative to have a re-match that to do anything about the controversy.

The Scorecard.

Prince Naseem is now soooooooooooooo fat you wouldn't believe it.

Boxing

i didn't get to watch Froch last night, sounds like he was out-classed though :(

Boxing

Just watched the whole fight and it's was as one-sided as you can get. Froch had no answers to Ward and was outclassed and outmuscled. Ward is a class above anyone at that weight.

Boxing

Not a good year for British boxers. :(

Only Nathan Cleverly left as a world title holder. Froch, Khan, Haye losing titles, with others, Rhodes, Burns, Murray, Hatton, losing title fights. Always next year. :grey:

Boxing

Andre Ward was world-class, he will be one of the best fighters in the world, if not the best. He's too quick and he's very very smart. Froch doesn't have anything to be ashamed of. Cleverly is the only 'British' hope left IMO. I quite like Chisora and Ricky Burns as well.

It isn't entirely surprising that we are just down to one champion. Froch, Rhodes, Murray, Hatton and Barker were all underdogs in their title fights and Burns never lost his in the ring. His victory over Katsidis suggests he may be able to do something at Lightweight and his interim belt may be upgraded to full status at some point.

Wouldn't say that Clev is the only British hope left. Froch and Khan are easily capable of regaining titles. (Although Light Heavyweight may be a better fit for Froch - I don't see him winning a re-match with Ward). Also with the Heavyweight division being so devoid of talent, once the Klits retire, anything could happen.

Boxing

Boxing is no longer what it used to be, there really is a lack of really good class boxers at all weights. You really struggle to name 10 good boxers right now.

More to do with the sport disapearing from terrestrial TV that lack of talent. The product is good enough in my opinion, but PPV and proliferation of titles hurts the perception of the sport badly and a few people in powerful places make far to much money for the situation to change.

Boxing

Froch was gobbing off before the fight about what what he was going to do etc..etc...a bit like David Haye really.....I watched all the Froch fight and the best man won by a mile....maybee our fighters should keep their mouths shut in future...until after the contest.......YOU REDS....

Boxing

surprised that Mayweather's jailing has not drawn comment from the GPG. though i always remember the Simpsons line, "Krusty, this is America, we don't put our celebrities in prison"... imagine he'll be pampered and still able to train

Boxing

Haye & Chisora to square-up again...This time without any bottles or cameramen in the way. Roll on the cynic's.

will people really be interested? they're both a bit rubbish basically, right?

ridiculous though to hear that one of the "factors" around all this is that the BBBC are waiting til July to make a decision on Chisora. what on earth are they doing before then?!?! easy life eh...

on Boxnation PPV it seems, anyone who pays to watch that really is a mug that has been taken in by the theatrics between these 2 clowns, no doubt enough people will though! :nono:

Boxing

It is a nothing fight, but to be fair, given the lack of characters in the heavyweight division, this is one of the more interesting fights that could have been made.

A lot of people are assuming Haye will win, but how many fights at heavyweight has he won?

At the very least i hope they both go at it and that it doesn't become a snorefest...Lets pay off haye so he can retire and stop pretending to be a world class heavyweight.

Oh and lets make sure he wears good shoes until July...we don't want 'that toe' to ruin the fight again ;)

Boxing

Sounds like the 'Luxemborg' fight is probably a non starter as all the promoters and others involved will lose their British licenses.....
