Reading the Sheff Weds effort, I think it's continuing to improve, and for the first time in years worth the money.

Yep. I thought the programme for the Wednesday game was the best issue in some time. As somebody who particularly loves the photos - and gets frustrated at the way they lose impact in such a small format - I like the fact that the front cover shot seems to be a little more than just a dull and very samey close up of a single player this season. With so much information now available to supporters online the way for the programme to succeed is by offering something different, that can't be obtained elsewhere, and exclusive articles, historical pieces and top quality photography all help to achieve that.

Why I stopped buying and as posted before when a fellow fan offered to have it proof read for free was rather bluntly told it wasn't required!

A number of errors are printer errors. Nothing to do with proof reading. The articles are sent, correctly, and left to the printer who interprets incorrectly. It's not an in-house production which would, probably, see a lot less errors.

We produce artwork which the printer changes based on their knowledge of BFC and the opposition? And they do this without first checking with the relevant BFC contact?

it didn't happen when Eric White was in charge of producing the Match day programme and despite being made aware on numerous occasions, more often than not the programme is littered with typos that I believe reflects badly on the club abd makes us look non league.

That's rubbish about the printer making the errors. Some maybe but did they switch all the photos on the visitors page so they showed against the wrong names. If they did the club should find another printer.

The job of the printer is to deliver a printed product of high quality on time and within budget. Which it would seem they do. Looks great IMO.
The accuracy of the content is the responsibility of BFC and something the printer will not give two hoots about. If they are making unseen changes they need to be managed better (by BFC) and supply the required compensation.

No designer or printer would send a job to print without expecting the client to check and give the ok to proofs – either digital or in print. It's the client's responsibility to check and pick up any errors from proofs and they should factor in time for proof reading or accept there are going to be errors. It's daft to expect a designer to have a knowledge of every clients' field and assume they will be able to drop everything in place completely accurately without assistance.

It's happened for the first three programmes. Having produced articles for the programme myself, and spoken to the editor, the mistakes are with the printer. Believe it or not, until you know the facts yourself, don't dismiss it. It happened.

I am are dealing with around 20,000 words per issue; it's my job to minimise errors wherever possible but one or two will occur. That's also one or two too many. Trust me, my day is ruined if something creeps through that shouldn't.
The programme is also proofed by others prior to printing. The printers have no input, they deliver the product and a good one it is too.
Every editor in the past has made mistakes and have a read of any national newspaper to spot them too; they also have an army of subs.
I actually believe this is the best programme that the club has put ever together (well I would say that) and offers good value for money.
All constructive criticism is gratefully received.

I love the bit with the old programme too, plus the club's early history and the detailed look back at 91/92. The BBB column was great and look forward to more.
I'd certainly agree that this season's programme is the best the Bees have produced. Thanks to rebus and all involved.
Looking ahead, as part of marking the 50th anniversary of the very near demise of the club, how about printing the front page of the programme from the Bradford City home game on 11 February 1967, the first to mention the fallout? I bought a copy from an eBay seller a while back and it is a read that I think all Bees' fans will appreciate. The one from the Southend game was printed before the news was known - I've got that too and was amused to see the club ask supporters, especially in New Road, to cut out the bad language.

I'd have liked a programme with two different covers. Other clubs have done this before. One designed by someone below the age of 16 - as we've seen - and one reflecting our Football League history from 1920 to 2016.

The 50th anniversary of the proposed Queens Park Rangers takeover will be commemorated in the Newcastle United programme on 14 January - which is nearest game to when the story first broke.
That would double the print costs for the cover production, which is something the printers wouldn't probably be keen on. It would have been a nice thing to do but there is a thought that the Club could be accused to profiteering by asking hardcore collectors' to hand over £10 for both editions.

Well how very encouraging of you to a young Bees supporter. I'm Ben's Dad. He's no artist, in fact he hates art, but since his first Bees game when he was 4 he has enjoyed drawing Bees players. The competition was open to all, not just the artists of the world. He is a passionate Bee, living and breathing it and more knowledgeable than most that attend GP.
He is very proud that his design has won, as am I, some nice touches and the badge, that he did really well, have been cut out. I think that a child that has been a regular at Griffin Park for 11 years of his life and a season ticket holder that travels for 2 sometimes 2.5 hours to get to every home game deserves better than some of the comments on here.
Shame on some of you. I just hope that he gets the applause he deserves for loving this club, wanting to be part of this momentous occasion and having the balls to enter.

Don’t take the comments to heart – well done for Ben for taking the time to have a go and congratulations to him for winning.
My 7 year old daughter had a crack – I haven’t had the courage to tell her yet that she didn’t win! Hopefully they will print a page with the others in the programme tomorrow – or at least ‘put the best of the rest’ on their social media channels as they said they would. They may have done this on twitter but I’m not on that so don’t know for sure, but it hasn’t been on their facebook account.
