BWP

not convinced myself but on the other hand that was one cool finish @ sheff U

BWP

with a full pre-season and a rocket up his arse to improve work rate he could be a very good addition .

BWP

..............his finishes away at Crewe and at home to Pompey were also quality...........

BWP

Not sure this is a good move as he'd be costly and didn't really shine in his last spell. I thought his work rate was poor and he was the one who intervened when Kev wanted to take the penalty. The black mark will stay with him for ever.

BWP

Still surprised he hasn't ended up in Milton Keynes.

..............who will stay with him forever ...........McCammon??????...........

BWP

sign him up, good addition on the bench..

BWP

This would be a great addition. I can't understand how people wouldn't want to sign a striker who scored 5 goals in 10 starts for us, and 20 goals in 42 for Charlton the season before last.

There is no doubt at all that he is a good quality striker, having Farid, BWP, Grigg and Donaldson (Hayes would probably go) would be easily the best strike force in this league.

BWP

Love us to sign him up the lads quality , id rather have him with us than playing against us next season

BWP

I'm finding it hard to wipe away the horrible memory of him ushering Kev away from taking that penalty, but then again witnessing his Sheff U goal is up there in my top Bees supporting moments. On balance, he would be a quality addition to the squad, and especially if means Hayes is shown the back door...sign him up.

"I'm finding it hard to wipe away the horrible memory of him ushering Kev away from taking that penalty"................................What has that got to do with anything ???. O'Connor was the captain and he should have taken the ball of Trotta if he didn't want him to take the pen.....end of............................I would love to see BWP in a Bees shirt this season.

BWP

I hope I'm not proved wrong but I think that we can spend our money better. BWP would not come cheap and I just think that Donaldon and Grigg will turn out to be a better and more productive andhard working partnership.

I suspect BWP needs to be top dog and would expect tobe first choice .

BWP

Would be interesting to see an unfancied Div One side like Orient take a punt on both BWP and Hayes and just keep starting them. Over the course of the season, I reckon it would pay dividends, just as it worked for Yeovil playing the two Irish lads up front last season.
I am not saying however that we are in the position of being an unfancied Div One side.

BWP

He showed what he can do in flashes during his loan spell.

Actually signed up and with competition for laces?

Reckon he'd be a brilliant signing.

BWP

Agree with most that he has undoubted quality, hopefully singing on a permenant basis will improve the work rate. I reckon he would be a geat addition to the squad. One questin though, with this new found plethora of quality strikers do we all think that Uwe might one day play three up front....or is that a bridge too far?

BWP

I would like him to sign. But I can't see this rumour being true, we already have 4 strikers who all will be on a good wage. It's inevitable that we would be linked with him because of last season! Though if there's room in the budget would be a great signing IMO

BWP

I'm not sure why anyone gives credence to a newspaper speculation.

Rocket up arse is something our squad are getting in Germany at the moment, can't see him being keen on that. Its a big NO from me.Wasnt impressed with his involvement with that penalty or his overall displays during his time with us.

Yep, four pairs and 5 strikers ;)

and where would that leave Farod and Hayes?

BWP

and where would that leave Farod and Hayes?

Makes little sense given that have grigg Donaldson Farid and Hayes. Possible that Hayes let out on loan but he has difference qualities to other three strikers and will be times he will be needed to hold up play and work main striker in . Farid he will now want to give a go to and is also most physical striker we have. We are in more need of a wide player and cover at centre back (hopefully another Harlee dean type unearthed from a premier league club !)

BWP

I suppose the interesting thing is which club is prepared to pay him the wages he is used to. I would guess that he is finding suitors hard to find and will have to start dropping his wage demands untill a club starts to show interest

Whether he is one for us I remain to be convinced although at the same time would not want him playing for any competitor in case he has a goal scoring run

Not sure that Rosler would rush to get his services as he was not a regular starter and I am sure he would not want a player that might have ideas above their station

Could see him turning up at Wolves or Sheffield

BWP

"I'm finding it hard to wipe away the horrible memory of him ushering Kev away from taking that penalty"................................What has that got to do with anything ???

It showed a total lack of respect towards the club captain and raised significant concerns about his application as a team player.

BWP

Showed his hand when he went to the States MLS looking for the big wages, be plenty of clubs interested I think he will play the field

BWP

Wouldn't mind seeing him back here. Formed a nice partnership with Clayton at a tough time of the season to be starting a new strike force. He will be familiar with Claytons style of play and with a good pre season behind him will get used to the new boys and Farid.

If he does come here, I can't see Hayes staying unless Donaldson or BWP is used out wide instead, which personally I would not like to see.

Not sure we would want a 5 man strike force especially as we sometimes switch to one up front in certain games.

BWP

Not sure - happy enough with the four strikers we have at the moment. We know BWP has the ability but the application? On a rainy cold January night in Rotherham or somewhere hmmm...... Would prefer it if we spent the money on a class defender myself.

BWP

Tricky one as even two or three years ago we'd have been delighted to sign a player with his finishing skills and make him the focal point of our attack.

But against that is his not exactly Donaldsesque work rate, and the fact we would be forking out a fair amount of our budget on a third or fourth choice striker. In an ideal world I'd say make him an offer as he'd be a great option to bring off the bench in a tight game.

But I seriously doubt he or his agent would settle for anything less than well paid first team football at this level. But who knows, maybe his loan spell has filled him with a deep and abiding love of all things Brentford, and we'll acquire him for a small fiscal outlay.

BWP

I think we and him have moved on...

BWP

Not for me. Only want players who truly want to be at Griffin Park. Next.

BWP

Can't see it myself; who would he replace? BWP is a poacher like Grigg, not a clever player like Hayes.

BWP

I believe the money could be spent more wisely on a quality attacking wide player who can contribute to the goal tally.. For me let's see how our strikers kick off for the season.

BWP

.....i reckon his brother could do a job for us.....need a different song though.

If we can get BWP on a reasonable wage then fine , we dont need a Billy Big Bollox player though .Probably the wrong thread but every one harps on about Hayes's contribution to the team . Hes another snippet of what Grigg can do , plus he scores goals too

"Not only did Will become first player to score 20 goals in a season in 10 years but he also was joint top in terms of assist! People just see the flicks and tricks of Pato and Brandy but some seem to ignore the quality of other players with less flair. Believe me Walsall would have finished a lot lower than 9th if Grigg wasn't in the team last season."

"grigg was the focal point for the team, how anyone can say all he did was score a few tap ins and penalties is beyond me! if you actually watch the game he virtually never loses the ball when played to his feet or chest, and invariably gave the ball to brandy or Paterson to win a penalty/ score from 30 yards/lose the ball/ give it him back to score. without him in the team we keep the ball far less, and could not play our passing style."

"Like most people say, it's Griggs work off the ball and his hold up play that makes him so valuable. He bullies defenders, look at the Bornmouth game at home. One of the top defences in the league, and the form side at that time, he didn't give them a moments peace. It's his work rate that tires defenders out, that leads to mistakes whereby others benefit from winning the penalties"

BWP

I reckon he'd do very nicely as an impact sub, ie someone who can come on to exploit a tiring defence to poach a last-gasp winner or equaliser.

How many times did that work last season and more to the point at Wembley?all for 5k a week no thanks.

BWP

As I said before not for me, I want players that are either good team members and will help develop others ( eg Hayes) or youngsters making their way over a guy that, whilst good, has an attitude that is not ideal for team morale

BWP

he's far too billy big bollox to be an 'impact' sub........and hayes is just too big, slow and never ever wins a header......grigg,clayts and farid all day long.

BWP

If BWP came back, surely that has to be curtains for Hayes? Donaldson, Grigg, BWP and Farid would stake a claim to be the most devastating strike force in the league - three of them have already proved their ability to score 20+ at this level... Getting a bit excited...

Whose to say it's Hayes that leaves. Could be some mileage in the offers for Donaldson? :fishing:
