Coin Throwing..

Coin Throwing..

A flare was set off right behind me in the first half I decided to move in the second and ended up behind a farter. In hindsight I should have stayed put, the continuous farting almost killed me!

Coin Throwing..

Always amuses me how people purr over the use of dozens of flares and smoke bombs at games abroad, commenting how much it adds to the atmosphere etc, and yet call for life bans/imprisonment for the use of one in England.

Not that I particularly like them - could still feel one in my throat by midnight last night.

They're not recommended for eating Toby!

i doubt the people criticising them are the same as those praising them when others use them. anyway you must be going mental at the moment, as a big advocate of standing at football, with the threat (very real as far as I'm aware) of Ealing Road becoming all seated...........

I doubt the threat of an all-seater Ealing Road is because of flares.

Coin Throwing..

you dont think they may play a part?

It'd be strange if they did - flares go off in all-seater stadiums just as much as in ones with terracing. And I'd like to see some evidence that fewer people get charged when flares are set off in terraces.

Coin Throwing..

It's not rocket science to have 2 or 3 cameras set up in the direction of the alleged coin throwing area at every home match to identify those throwing coins/objects , and regardless of any court case outcome they should be given a club lifetime ban, with no appeal, we have to rid the club of these few Neanderthal brain dead idiots, we do not need people like this at our club.

It'll also help identify the idiots letting off flares which appeared to be in the same section of the ER terrace. I go to GP to watch football not to end up coughing & spluttering and eye irritation from smoke inhalation! :nono:

Coin Throwing..

Sorry but:

1. How can anyone justify chucking a coin at a person on the pitch?
2. Why would a person with any sense set off a firework in an enclosed public space with so many people (including children) around.

Doesn't add anything to the atmosphere and can only be actions of idiots. Don't care if there are others that don't agree.

In total agreement and so much for security screening as people come into the ground. Get on the case Mr Devlin of this will get worse.

Coin Throwing..

The problem is the lack of cameras, not the fact that it's terracing.
That's irrelevant, it's about perception of the authorities.

The fact is all of the incidents have occurred from the terrace.

When presenting our case about why we want to keep a terrace we will have to present our safety record.

How do you think it would be judged?

Coin Throwing..

The problem is not lack of cctv, it is the lack of intelligence by a few idiots. Especially after it being highlighted this week. You can be sure the officials were told by the FA to keep an eye out for it.

The people who run football have a deeply ingrained hatred of terracing. Personally I think they'll try and make Griffin Park all-seater as soon as they possibly can, no matter how many smoke bombs are set off.

Simple question Toby. Do you think letting off smoke bombs and throwing coins will make it easier for the club to keep the terrace or harder?

Coin Throwing..

Had a look around er, there's one camera just behind the goal but I couldn't see any others up in the roof? Is that all we have?

Also 4 flares today and no one kicked out for them (as far as i could see). If you can't find something as visible as a flare how are you going to pinpoint a coin thrower?

for the 234177th time to anyone who calls them flares.....THEY WERE FECKIN SMOKEBOMBS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im not going to say this ever again :( please understand the difference before one of us dies lol lol

i agree with that last part.....the authorities love having the pleasure of controlling everything in our lives (as with most people who will vote for that cretin millaband too...the islington elite are exactly the same and love to control the peasants) and they dont like terraces....they like lots of cameras and people identified by their seat number.....we are far too compliant in this country with what the so called authorities want....would never happen in italy where they just stand on the seats and launch chinese firecrakcers and flares and smokebombs anyway.....football fans in britian are just cannon fodder for the rule makers out there ;)

This bit is spot on. It's why boycotts never really work - British people are bad at collective action.

Coin Throwing..

Probably a tiny bit harder, but I think it's impossible anyway.

Next question, do you think if an action leads to the club being fined or a reduction in attendance, then a strong deterrent is needed?

Coin Throwing..

Should the club fight back by arming the stewards with tear gas canisters?

Coin Throwing..

So yet again coins thrown and Flares/Smokebombs let off in the same area of the Ealing Road Terrace when is the board of directors going to do something about apart from putting things on the website and in the programme. Surely they should have large number of stewards watching this area every home game instead of just sending them there whenever something happens ie after the horse has bolted. The club seems more interested in taking the tops of plastic bottles rather than dealing with real problems. I stand on the opposite side of the goal from where the problems are occuring but as an asthma sufferer i will not be happy if one goes of on my side of the terrace.

Coin Throwing..

direct correlation between singing and standing also coin throwing and standing, i'll sit thanks.

Coin Throwing..

Unfortunately we live in an era of " I'm alright Jack so screw you" - it beggars belief that there are still some who think it is ok to let off smoke bombs and throw coins with no regard to anybody in the vicinity and the real possibility of the club getting a hefty fine or having to turn Ealing Road into a seated stand.

It is the same with standing at away games where some people I know cannot stand for health reasons and get abuse from those standing in front of them when they are politely asked to sit down. One of the reasons I have given up going to as many away games as I used to is that this selfish attitude of a minority spoils it for the rest and at 66 years of age I do not wish to be constantly getting up and down out of my seat to see what is happening on the pitch after having paid an extortionate price for a ticket at many Championship grounds in the first place. For someone who attended most away games for many years I get rather miffed with the attitude of some of our fans which is the price of success I suppose.(slightly off topic I know.)

Cue moany old git posts to follow..

Stewards too fecking busy having a go if u step one inch over the yellow line in the gangway and threatening to take away your season ticket for that than to bother about the serious issues of coin throwing or flares. Jobsworth Tossers who dont seem to want to stamp out the more serious issues

Direct correlation between sitting and being around boring moaners who don't get behind their team, I'll stand thanks.

There are already strong punishment for smoke bombs, which has led to a decrease in the number seen at games. There were loads more knocking around 2 years ago. As with anything prevented by law, you're very unlikely to stamp it out completely.

This has already happened. There are far more stewards in that part of the terrace than there used to be.

The club will be forced to employ more Police on matchday duty, adding cost and reducing profitability, to be positioned in the Loose-change Stand.

Yep experienced these over zealous stewards on Saturday for the first time. As I arrived late rather than annoying people forcing my way through to my mates I went down the front and found a space against the rail next to the white paint. I picked my spot and lean position to ensure my frame wasn't blocking the view of the people behind. For the rest of the half I was consistently warned about mm incursions onto the white paint after some on the pitch action!!!!!

A quick whip round the paddock and you'll have enough to cover the cost, we only throw notes these days you see. ;)

why don't the stewards just use profiling.....it's got to be pretty obvious who won't have a smoke bomb in their pocket

Ridiculous, both my 13 year old daughter and I had smokebombs in our pockets but decided against setting off this weekend as there was a chap next to us with an inhaler and we're considerate! :fishing:

Coin Throwing..

Not sure if has been mentioned earlier, but didn't the old bill escort the culprits up through hate corner so a few bees fans could get a couple of sly digs in?

They did indeed

Yes, the bloke standing in front of you muttered something to me about the bloke behind him having a rocket in his pocket! :D

You don't have to be a boring moaner just because you want to sit in the seat you have paid for and it doesn't mean that because you are sitting you don't get behind the team. You do come out with some right old twaddle at times for an intelligent youing man.

Nope. And you don't have to be a coin-chucker to stand and sing at games.

Having been in Ealing Road yesterday and downwind of these counts, I suspect they are a danger to anyone with asthma or other breathing difficulties. Still as long as you think it's more important to be an "ultra" than respecting the wishes of the majority eh?

And as said above: we just said goodbye to being able to stand in the Premiership either here or at Lionel Road.
One of those flares was dropped right at my feet. The smoke is very acrid, potentially choking in fact, and since my mate is asthmatic, I had to stand on the end of it to extinguish it (it was "Smoke Grenade" brand, for information).

The thing is, it must have come from someone in a group of 8 or 10 people (max) standing directly behind me, yet neither me nor my mate, nor his two lads a few feet further along, saw who did it. (There was another flare let off just a couple of feet away, too.)

So for all those people who complain how useless the CCTV or the Stewards are etc, it can sometimes be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to see exactly who is doing these things.

Which leads back to the need for self-policing - responsible fans need to help the club they support by pointing out these toerags.

Mind you, when I and others suggested something like this (also about flares) last season, we got the usual moronic apologists complaining about "snitching"...
