Comanded his area, and caught everything that came into the box.

Brilliant penalty save, although Sky at first said it was a poor penalty.
Thought the pen save was very similar to Pickford’s in WC v Colombia (if on the opposite side.....)

David Raya

All the prem speculation seems to centre around him being a #2 at a big club or Arsenal. I just have a hunch that DR is not the kind of guy who wants to be sitting somewhat perpetually on a bench. I may be wrong...and of course, money talks. Anyway, he has set the bar high and we will not be keen to sell unless the offer is silly imho

David Raya

He was excellent yesterday. Confident on crosses, good handling, superb technique and anticipation for the penalty save. If he is being watched by Premiership Clubs then he will have added a couple of Million to his valuation. Peronally I agree with the above poster, I can't see him being happy being a No.2 at this stage in his career. Unless we get a silly offer in I think he'd stay.

David Raya

Raya is absolutely terrific with his feet and shot-stopping abilities but today I sensed something more priceless. Even at the crucial play-off game against Swansea I felt absolute certain that he would clear all the 50/50 crossings + all the weaker long-shot attemps. What a remarkable difference compared to last season. I can't believe that we purchased him for the equivalent of Bentley + £1m. Once again hats of to the dof's.

David Raya

Won't get discussed a lot but been superb in both play off legs. Saved a penalty Sunday and made 2 really crucial saves in this game tonight. Well played.

David Raya

No chance for either Swansea goal. But his command of the area was superb. Great throw to Jensen to start the first goal

Indeed, 2 crucial saves tonight.....his performance in both games could well have been the difference between the 2 teams over the 2 legs.....

David Raya

worth two goals tonight, top top keeper

David Raya

Magnificent keeping..top class

David Raya

Has been a beast against Swansea in both legs

David Raya

Didn't Bristol City fans say they'd signed the best keeper in the Championship?

Probably. My Blackburn mate was gutted when we signed DR and said we had signed a good 'un...he wasn't lying!

David Raya

Kept us in the tie in the first leg and still kept us in the tie in the second leg. Two excellent performances. Top top job. :)

David Raya

Love love love how he catches everything that he can instead of parrying - his catch and his distribution was responsible for setting the wheels in motion last night

David Raya

Quality, the way he comes out and claims the ball, superb. Also some important saves too.

Absolutely. So important. And so reassuring for the rest of the team. To be honest, goalkeeping gloves are so adhesive, I see no reason why so many keepers default to punching. He makes it look as easy as it should be. He is so decisive as well. Knows exactly when to come and when not, and knows exactly when to punch. But, as you point out, catching the ball is key to the swift counter attacking at which we can be so deadly.

David Raya

Possible Man of the Match but there were many last night

Maybe not last night's MoM (I gave that to Ollie), but definitely man of the tie I would say............

David Raya

Easily the player of the tie.

Handling was superb, made a brilliant save from Ayew's penalty, and other important saves too.

David Raya

His decision making was flawless as well as his handling. Distribution was a little under par, BUT I think he was trying to drop it on a sixpence, so understand.

His distribution set up two of our goals!

David Raya

His distribution set up two of our goals!

Absolutely right. I should have specified, it was after their goal, when we were trying to get (and hold) the ball up in their half. Often it was coming straight back.

David Raya

Only his first season, but has rapidly pushed himself in amongst the best keepers we've had in the modern era in my opinion. Certainly helps that he's combined with a robust centre back partnership, but I don't think many of us expected him to be such an inspired signing.

David Raya

Absolutely top form in both legs of the play-off Semi. Really looked every inch a Premier League Keeper in waiting over both legs. Decision making, shot stopping, Reflexes, Distribution were all brilliant.

…. not to mention claiming of high balls.

David Raya

Yup. And the whole "good shotstopper but dodgy on crosses" thing
Amusingly, Blackburn recruited a 'keeper supposedly good on crosses, but now their fans say that the replacement is just as bad, so it must be their GK coach that's the problem!

David Raya

That first save last night low to his left was SO important. And then the throw out to Jensen. He has been a massive asset this year! :)

David Raya

On Foolham's 'Friends of Jacko' forum, some of their deluded nitwits think that Raya is our only player that would cut it in the Premiership. As opposed, I guess, to their £100 M 'worth' of mercenaries and no-marks who got them relegated last season.

Backup goalkeepers tend to be English (or Home Grown) as that uses up one of the quota... Not sure if Raya qualifies as Home Grown, but if he doesn't then it's unlikely he will be on a bench week-in, week-out - even if it is the nominee #2

Good point. I’m sure MB has an algorithm somewhere which shows that makes him significantly less likely to leave. At least I hope so...

Home Grown!

David Raya

You can tell by the northern twang in his Spanish accent that he’s sort of home grown.

David Raya

Never seen a Bees keeper catch the ball as regularly as he does. Outstanding.
