Im sure if he was to go we will have known of serious interest well in advance and have lined up replacements. I agree hes important to the way we play but 8-10m is alot for a championship goalkeeper

yes, but the more we have to change the less likely we are to have the kind of start we want. If we end up losing Benhrama and Watkins and bring in Toney and a new winger that's not a huge amount of upheaval. We'd still have the defensive spine of the team. If we then start saying, that's not bad money for Henry, oh, and Raya then it's starting to look much more of a rebuild.. I'd hope Raya would want to give it another go especially after what happened in the final and sitting on the bench wouldn't be that appealing. Remember he's still pretty young for a goalkeeper and has plenty to learn.. He needs to be playing at this stage of his career..

Can also say how many of them have had a move/fee spent on them in the last few seasons?
Anything under 10-12million would be a travesty. Raya is key to our defense and would be a huge loss.

This bemuses me. I know footballers chase the best deal sometimes over the best opportunity as was the case with Luke Daniels who made the decision to live apart from his family in return for job security and an enhanced salary despite the likelihood of rarely playing.
I just hope Raya doesn’t make a similar decision if the chance arises.

When played Daniels has not let us down, also early on in the Transfer Window not sure it was but a goalkeeper was mentioned as a possible transfer target

Goalkeepers often play 90 minutes in pre-season, while outfield players get rested in the 2nd half. It could just be a case of Daniels playing today, and Raya getting a full game against Oxford or Wycombe.

Yeah but in the same way Josh Clarke didn't let us down, Tom Field didn't either. But we also know they're not good enough outside of a few appearances here and there, and I'd put the same to Daniels. Functional, but not at the level we'd need for a longer campaign.
If Raya is off it will be a massive shame IMO, but it is also a position that is ultimately replaceable. Balogun coming the other way is purely speculation, but isn't implausible.

Possible but unlikely, given he was ever present last season. Very much sounds like he's off, which is disappointing after just one season. If fit and ready, there's no way he wouldn't have featured today imo.

Was at the kit launch yesterday so would imagine the club wouldn’t have done that if they expected him to leave. Nor would I have thought he would have agreed to do it if he was intent on leaving.

Goode did a fans interview online just a few days before he signed for us giving all the right noises for the fans. At that time he must have had a pretty good idea he was on his way. Photos mean nothing IMHO. I think it would be easier to replace Raya than Henry.

It is too much of a coincidence that Raya had a knock the day after the rumours started spreading. He may well indeed have a knock who knows but the Spanish connection with Arteta may be a pulling factor. Although really interesting to see that Arteta started with Martínez today.

Maybe not. However, you have to admit it is a tremendous coincidence or the worst luck ever that he got a 'knock', just as rumours circulate, when he seemed to avoid any such problems in all 46 league games!

The threshold for missing a game that matters is very different to a pre-season friendly, especially with a player who we don't need to learn anything about.

The fact that the club Twitter feed specifically referred to him having a slight knock suggests to me it's genuine.
When players are purposely left out due to likely leaving the club there is usually no comment at all, such as Oli missing Derby and now West Ham today.

He may not have let us down but Daniels would be a major drop in standard from Raya and it's not like us to go backwards... Raya is the perfect 'sweeper keeper' for the way we play, the defence have confidence in him and his ability on the ball, he's so quick off his line to mop up and he's been directly involved in a few of our goals this season with his distribution. We won't get any of that with Daniels I'm afraid..
