Just so I know, when is it scheduled that we satrt posting nasty things about him for turning down the contract, and saying things like "I never rated him that much anyway"?
Raya has been brilliant for Brentford, but Brentford have been brilliant for Raya in his career development. TF rates him as a top 6 side keeper so deserves his chance when we receive an offer that the club considers acceptable. I will watch his future career with pride when he is playing at a higher level than we can currently offer, as I have done with Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma.Just so I know, when is it scheduled that we satrt posting nasty things about him for turning down the contract, and saying things like "I never rated him that much anyway"?
Of course not but for 2 years after we sold them they were. During that time not only have they been paid far more money than we could have paid them, Said has played in European football and Ollie played for England. So again brilliant players for Brentford, but Brentford brilliant for their career progression. Let's hope we can continue to progress to offer our contracted players European football and England caps. You never know if Raya goes to a top 6 club we may be saying in 2 years time, he isn't playing at a higher level than Brentford nowExcept that Watkins and Benrahma are no longer playing at a higher level than Brentford!
We're definitely in a much better place defensively than we were when he was out last season. We became a disorganised mess when he was out. Can't see that happening this year with Mee in the sideI would rather him go in the summer lol at how we struggled without him last season
What would you do instead that isn't going to alienate an influential player and potentially others? It's a small club mentality to be happy that one of our players is moving to another club in our division.
It was ok to feel that way when we were in the championship but we are 8TH in the EPL.
The club don't want or need to sell him otherwise we wouldn't be offering him a life changing contract.
Obviously if a ridiculous offer comes in for someone we are going to sell because that's our business model and i understand that a top 4 club is a desirable move for a player but i'm not going to sit here and be happy about it.
Did you read the last paragraph? What would you do instead that isn't going to alienate an influential player and potentially others?
We might be 8th in the EPL, but be honest with yourself, we are still a small club.
I did, I was just curious about the first 2 as you're happy about it. So just interested if you would do anything differently?Did you read the last paragraph?
I agree we have deff improved defensively we have drawn and won games we would of lost last season, however I don’t think we should let him go until the summer, especially while David has been in top top form lately. We're definitely in a much better place defensively than we were when he was out last season. We became a disorganised mess when he was out. Can't see that happening this year with Mee in the side
There's nothing i would do differently. If the player wants to go we'll do the best deal we can.I did, I was just curious about the first 2 as you're happy about it. So just interested if you would do anything differently?
Sods law he'd save one of Ivan's!If Raya went elsewhere in the PL we’d probably know which of his weaknesses to target. Maybe positioning at FKs and saving penalties.
He’s too short to have a chance but I suspect both will be at other clubs before we see that in a competitive game so not too bothered.Sods law he'd save one of Ivan's!
Remember that the way we've worked over the last decade is that we promise not to stand in the way if the player wants away. It's how we've attracted raw talent in the first place. It would not be in our long-term best interest to deny a want-away player his move. Even if the money isn't 'ridiculous'.Obviously if a ridiculous offer comes in for someone we are going to sell because that's our business model and i understand that a top 4 club is a desirable move for a player but i'm not going to sit here and be happy about it.
I haven't said anywhere that we should deny the player a move.I also said that's our business model.Remember that the way we've worked over the last decade is that we promise not to stand in the way if the player wants away. Of course, just saying that our model hopes for ridiculous but can’t demand it.I haven't said anywhere that we should deny the player a move.I also said that's our business model.
I wouldn't be happy losing the player but i accept it because that's our model.
It's every clubs model whether they like it or not. We just accept that it is and use it to our advantageOf course, just saying that our model hopes for ridiculous but can’t demand it.
Seems we agree...now i'm confusedOf course, just saying that our model hopes for ridiculous but can’t demand it.
Done. Hadn't realised it had been closed. .Easy day at the office for DR today.
Suspicion of handling it outside the area just before he got flattened??
Can we have the "normal" DR thread reopened??
