A decent game in the end.

Charlton started the much better side, and went 0-2 up and probably deserved it. Their second came a little against the run of play but they deserved their lead. They then had a powerful shot from distance, which deflected and smacked the bottom of the post. If that had gone in it probably would have been game over.

Farid El Alagui then managed to get a deflected goal, not to take anything away from him, but it took it a little away from Ben Hamer. Half time soon followed but after Farid's goal Brentford were the only side in it. Second half we started pretty strongly and soon after managed to get an equiliser. Josh Rees latching onto a ball played through to him and he managed to knock it past Hamer and in off the post. It was a bit of a difficult angle and the crowd seemed slightly surprised he managed to finish it.

Brentford then pushed forward looking for more, without Charlton really threatening. Farid and Kevin then were subbed off at the hour mark simultaniously, and the best part was after they'd gone off they gave each other a hug on the touchline as they were walking back round to the dressing room, they know they're close to being back.

Before they got there however it was 3-2, shortly after play resumed Josh Rees ran the ball in from the corner of the penalty box, and after delaying his time to pick a moment, curled a very good shot into the far side of the goal to which Hamer had no chance.

Brentford still pushed forward at this stage, and after a neat through ball to (possibly) Norris, he then squared it for an unmarked Oyeleke to finish at the near post on his first touch.

Brentford then seemed comfortable, and nearly scored another on the counter while we were four on two but the eventual shot was straight at Hamer.

Overall a good performance, but it took until Farid's goal before we came alive. I'm sure the coaches will be urging us to start stronger for the next game but overall they will have been happy with the last hour. Charlton ended up being defeated by a good looking Brentford team but they'll be disappointed they didn't maintain their good start.

Very good performance from what I saw when I turned up just as Charlton went 2-0 up.

Great to see Farid and Kevin making their comebacks.
Farid was in the box took a low shot and with the rebound he got the ball in with a slight deflection. He also got an assist an assist.

Reeves, Rees and Adams are all quality on the ball and comfortable in possession and trying to create and make things happen.

Clarke came on the right and has a lot of pace. Couple of runs and crosses came from him.

Rees took his goal well, curled it around te defender and keeper, good finish.

The dev squad play some really good football, the ball always kept on the floor and rarely ever hoofed up the field.

Great result against very good Charlton side who are top. Massive game next week now vs QPHA.

Top two go through and face the top two from the north for a place in the final.

Can't believe Hamer is only playing in their development squad, particuarly as David Button is toilet.

@BrentfordFC: This afternoon sees the Development Squad take on QPR at Jersey Road in the U21 Professional Development League, kick off 2pm, all welcome

Game is still on.....

Development Squad

Massive game.

Those three points took Brentford to 32 points from 16 games and up to third in the table. They are a point behind leaders Charlton and Cardiff City, who are second, and have a game in hand on the South Wales side. The Bees entertain neighbours Queens Park Rangers in another top-of-the-table clash today.
QPR are fourth in the table, two points behind The Bees having played a game more.
If Brentford win, QPR would be five points adrift with only two games to play.

Development Squad

Good practice for when/if harlee or Craig get injured or suspended...

Development Squad

Farid scores header from corner. Well taken.

Development Squad

No Dallas - has he been injured all this time or do we take it as a sign that he's playing on Wednesday?

Development Squad

2-1 to us at the moment. Don't know who got second goal.

Development Squad

Looked so good for us pre season and scored a superb goal against Hampton & Richmond. Surprised we haven't seen more of the lad to be honest:confused:

Agree looked the part against Wycombe as well, perhaps one for next season

Development Squad

All over 2-1 win.
Oyeleke was superb in centre midfield.
Reeves come off after 60minutes.
Kevin very good at the back and organised.
Farid tired a little second half but hold up play was good.

Development Squad

When does Redwoods contract expire? Also surprised we havent seen more of him-maybe his involvement in a certain court case involving some of his ex-teammates took his mind off things?

I had actually forgotten we had him!

Development Squad

The team played well. Standout players for me were Oyeleke & Adams. Farid looked good but tired in the second half, but I suspect he'll be back in the first team soon.

Development Squad

Very impressed with Oyeleke, very strong in the challenge and moved the ball skilfully.

Development Squad

Our lads pressed and tackled from the word go didn't give them a chance to get there passing game going, our lads looked really up for it a good header from Farid from a corner and redwood scored ours, there goal was a mistake by our keeper, Farid and Kev went the full ninety.

Development Squad

Mick Harford was there watching. It was good to see some first-teamers watching too.

Perhaps it was the relief at signing his new contract but Jake Reeves seemed a bit below par but Oyeleke was excellent as was Griffiths. There was a crunching tackle from man mountain Aaron Pierre in the first-half that just made you wince!!

This is good to hear. :sorted:
