He is not a really a New Brentford type of player though...and I suspect is already on a hefty wedge...

Neither was Danny Graham though. As a short-term option, and if we can't get anyone else in, I think he might be worth a punt! He has an excellent record at this level.

Matt Tubbs available on a free from Bournemouth we could do a lot worse than offer him a 6 month to one year contract. He has a few games at this level knows where the back of the net is no transfer fee and a good replacement should Gray need resting. When we have secured him we should continue our search for another star centre forward.

I like Tubbs but he is nowhere near championship quality

Re Doyle, I'm not sure he fits the profile of a Brentford target. He's not come through the academy route, not got a National history and he's a bit too old.

If Eddie Howe thinks he's no good for Bournemouth, he's no good for us either, we need to step up in quality not down, besides he's gone to Pompey, that say's it all!!!!.

I'd take a punt on Matt Smith. Not wanted at Fulham and scored four the other night for Brizzle. He seemed like a nice character in his interview on SSN. Just my humble

As a plan C presumably ? You're not advocating changing our tactics and the great football we play to accommodate Smith. He was a useless, immobile obelisk when he played for Oldham against us and off the back of a header in the cup Leeds bought him, sussed quickly how awful he was and offloaded him to a team in Putney who it appears have also twigged and looking to move him on.

He is a 6ft 7 lummox who isn't a footballer.

And I saw him play in the league of Ireland and not up to championship std in my opinion. Hope not!

With regards to Doyle the opinion I've seen from most Chesterfield fans is that he's having a purple patch but overall he's not a championship quality striker.

To be fair too him, he improved immeasurably after Dickov was sacked and Philliskirk started coaching him. He scored 4 goals in the FA Cup against the two Merseyside clubs, scored the crucial goal in a relegation battle against Bury and then curled in a twenty five yarder in the game that confirmed league one survival.

He had a half decent Championship scoring record at Leeds and is now banging them in for fun at the top end of League One.

He is a 6ft 7 lummox who isn't a footballer.

Fair dos mate, you saw a lot more of him than me.
I just can't believe we'd compromise on our vision when we're doing getting the results we are, playing the very best style and standard of football I've ever seen at GP.
If we were struggling and we had to get points to survive I'd take John Beck Cambridge stylee aerial assaults to achieve results.

Signing him as an impact sub or last ditch throw of the dice to get back in a game maybe if he's improved otherwise it's a no from me.
