Time to start with deeds as well as words

EVERY PENNY MUST go on the playing squad in January. b***ocks to badges, b***ocks to gantries, b***ocks to marketing.

It must start, and it must start now and it must start here.

I can promise you one thing, there will be empty seats at the next match at GP....and not just because Marketing stopped selling tickets to away supporters.

We need change....and change now. Enough of the same old same old. I can set my watch by the substitutions....

Playing squad,powerhouse center mid,younger version of Macca needs to be the first signing!

The midfield is the problem we have, getting turned over week after week these last two months. It's two effing lightweight. Honeymoon is over as far as I'm concerned for Sayers and Josh. The odd good flick is not good enough. We need 100% commitment. Lets stop making excusses, and turn this around before it's too late.

I'm not calling for Dean Smith's resignation btw. At least not yet.

* more coaches
* more ideas

But where we are is simply not good enough

Agree we should immediately invest in performance rather than commercial but imo we need to prioritise bringing in an intelligent proven tactical coach to work with Smith, someone like that Swansea Spanish coach we were linked to who was known at malaga for his tactical aptitude.

For next five games we are stuck with what we have.

Yes I didn't mean we should get him, just someone like that.

Our players are good enough to stay up but if Woods is still our holding player next week and KK stays on the bench I will find it very difficult to support Smith.

Would have thought the best route would be to get as many Bees fans as possible to next Saturday's game and get behind the team.Last thing we want is empty seats

Woods is a good young player but the idea of playing him as our deepest midfielder is demonstrably not working. It's clear that our opponents have sussed that he never holds the position, and that there is always endless space in front of our defence because he is forever charging towards whoever has the ball.

Laying the blame purely at the feet of the midfield would be misguided. I've not seen us so poor defensively for ages - worse than at any point in the last few years.

We're gifting teams a constant supply of penalties, as well as own goals and just generally sh*t defending. It starts from the front and the five in front of the defense are playing terribly, but our back four are all over the place at the minute.

Agree, excellent young player but he's not a bloody holding player!! Been saying since November 2015, and got slaughtered on here for it.

Erm, have you noticed that our most expensive CENTRE BACK is not even on the pitch ?...........there appears to be a serous disconnection between our directors of football and the manager....opps sorry head coach ?.....

Who knows but imo it looks highly likely. We no longer play the kind of football that he was brought to the club to preserve. He was the Director of football philosophy.

Pederson left because he had a better offer. In any case it's not going to change anything. So please let's park that for this thread.

What will change our fortunes? Because something is needed. I'm not a "football man", but even I can see we are not in the mix for a top 10 finish.

ONE win in NINE is not good enough.

We are supposed to be a club that does things differently from others to close the obvious gap in finances. Gradually over the past two years, the systems put in place have been whittled away. We had a philosophy of playing good football running through all teams at the club. Gone. We had an innovative head of football philosophy to oversee this. Gone. We had a system of coaches, so that any head coach could neatly slot into this system and if he went, the system remained the same and he'd be easy to replace. Gone. Succession planning. Gone. One of the most attractive sides to watch in the league. Gone. One of the fittest teams in the league that would snap at the opposition's heels from the off and would often score at the death, looking to score more. Gone.

Obviously players come and go. We've sold well and done well to attract players like Egan and Bentley. But if Smith goes, there is realistically no one to take over and no style, philosophy or tactics to continue. There is no point getting a young, idealistic coach in unless the rest of the structure is in place. We need a man manager who can communicate to players what their jobs are, as well as some leadership and bite on the pitch. Rubbish today and it's been on the cards for a while.

There's not a lot of this I can't disagree with. I thought we were the "continuity club" it doesn't seem like that. Remember 3 up at defensive corners?

However Smith is a man-manager. At least from what I have heard from those involved...

I don't think our current midfield could hold up a ladder, let alone a team of 11. We are but a shadow of what we were 18 months ago under the direction of that talented bloke. Shame our owner got shirty when he refused to play ball the Benham way.

So what's next? Deano out - Pardew in? Nah, they won today.

If we don't get a result against Burton next week, I'll be crying into my beer!

So, what (or who) is this directed at exactly? Is it your ongoing gripe with the marketing department or something more? For example, how much money are we talking about with regard to marketing? Would any re-direction away from that area really make a significant difference on the playing front? I doubt it would to be honest. In short, aren't you just conflating the emerging problems on the playing front with your concerns about marketing as a means to increase attention on the latter? But I am happy to be convinced otherwise ie with more substance

That's about the best we can do,as far as the manager goes it's MBs call but the last thing we want next Saturday is negativity from the start.Think we all know we are not strong enough as a squad to compete with most in this league and our current form is worrying we have had enough tough times over the last 50 years trying to get and stay in this league and we fans should be up for the fight and it's up to the manager to sort out the players who arnt and move them on.

I've never been involved in running a football club, so I'm not going to make any outrageous demands, but I don't believe that's how it works. Marketing needs to continue....

Yes, I am a Bees fan, and have been so since 1970-odd. But I prefer to focus on the team and its manager/coach, rather then bother with the peripheral parasites that bedevil the modern game.
