People have been questioning their legitimacy since the start. I dont think today will make a blind bit of difference.
Heard a whisper that Blatter doesnt go to the US in case he gets nicked

There are two separate investigations by the FBI. One, which led to today's arrests, is I to historic criminality.
The other, which is ongoing, is specifically directed at the Qatar and Russia bids. If I was a betting man I'd say Qatar ain't gonna happen. Watch this space.

Thing is I like most that the Russian Sports Minister is among those arrested (or at least being investigated).
Sepp Blatter has to go.
Go.
Now.

I'm sure this will end up being the English FA's fault, and we'll end up with a lifetime ban from any future World Cups!

The key to cleaning out the stables and Mr Blatter is for the sponsors to threaten to withdraw. Believe me , nothing else will prize Blatter from his position.

We should start our own and call it the world series. Bit like the USA and baseball.

like any silly people, their big mistake was surely being a bit too brazen. even Russia was a bit "hmm" but Qatar was bloody obvious.

I doubt that the 18 and 22 World Cups will get a revote. Qatar and Russia are already building infrastucture and stadiums, so they will take FIFA to the cleaners if gets awarded elsewhwere.
As for Blatter, I expect he'll spin his way out of it, the vote to re elect him will go ahead and he will get presidency for the next 4 years.
I have also heard that he avoids going to America, however, he is due to in Canada for a Womens Tournement. He's probably at the docs getting an 'Unfit to Travel' letter.

True and now it puts into context Platini's recent negative comments about his old pal Blatter, he probably knew this was about to happen so has jumped ship.
Platini was very much behind the Qatar voting.

I see one of the arrested is the head of the Cayman Islands fa..... The Cayman Island ffs. They have more power than us and why? Because they get to take bribes and have no interest in football.
We need to pull out now "to maintain our own integrity", but I guess the challenge is that half our mob are probably on a gravy train as well.
Good old panarama they got there in the end.

The Germans have been pissed off with the setup just like we have for some time now. If England and Germany got together, they could lead a march of UEFA countries out of FIFA. FIFA without UEFA would struggle for credibility.

I feel the key now for the future of FIFA is what FIFA's 'sponsors' do, half of whom are American companies. I still think Blatter will get re-elected.
FIFA
The sponsors have little so far so not sure if they will do much as long as they can see value in the World Cups.
Blatter is a master of Teflon coating so it will be fascinating to see if he yet comes unstuck.

According to FIFA's website, the five main partners of FIFA are Adidas (Germany), Coca-Cola (USA), Gazprom (Russia), Visa (USA), and Hyundai/Kia (South Korea). 3 of those countries have hosted recently or will host soon.

Blatter welcomes the investigation, as he obviously knew nothing about it for the last 20 years. Big, fat, ugly liar, but if he wasn't a liar how could anyone vote for someone who was unaware of such wholesale corruption on his watch for 20 years especially when he has denied it and refused to investigate all the allegations.

Feck FIFA.....and the FA saying that they will vote for the Prince....Feck that as well........what they should be doing is putting in a vote of no confidence on the whole tribe......pull the team out of any FIFA competitions (others will follow) and start up WFO (World Football Organisation) with the heads of each countries association on the committee and then have the first "proper" WFO Super Cup in the UK in 2018.....simples!!

The Americans have a vested interest in throwing a spanner into the football machine as their big sports the NFL and NBA are struggling to expand overseas and the Premier League is getting more popular each year in the US. If you run such a shoddy and corrupt organisation you leave yourself open to being exposed at some point, it is amazing they got away with it for so long.
I wonder if we might find out the reasons why FIFA have been so anti video technology and open time keeping like rugby?

Uncle Seppter's latest gem can be found on the FIFA website
" This is a difficult time for 1) football, 2) the fans and 3) for FIFA as an organisation."
1) Er not really
2) On the contrary, the chance that you bastards might finally not just get run out of town, but banged up to boot has perked me up no end
3) Lets ****ing hope so
I won't cite the rest of the statement on the FIFA website, as it makes me feel sick reading that "we welcome this investigation and blah blah blah"
How could we let this bloke & his cronies get away with what they have done to the beautiful game?

We seem to have a life time ban from the latter stages of the competition anyway so this wouldn't be such a massive step

Agreed.
What's astonishing to me (as I'm naive) is Blatter's plan to run for a fifth term. Either he has been aware of the decades long scams and bungs and so isn't fit for the job, or the decades long scams and bungs have happened on his watch by his closest cronies but he wasn't aware of it all - making him unfit for the job.

well we in Asia are voting for Mr Blatter - he is innocent until proven guilty of any offence - imagine how much worse it would have been under anyone else's watch - thank god for Seep

I do hope your taking the piss here in imagining how worse it could be (although I do know your voting for him).

So far the African Footy Association, The Asian Footy Association (with the exception of Australia) and the Russians have all come out in support for Bloater.

No chance of that as he's defended himself and said he can't be held accountable for corrupt individuals
The saddest part is that he is going to get comfortably re-elected as Africa/Asia and the Americas it appears pretty much vote in bulk. Just don't get how they can all give him that unconditional support with all that has and is taking place
