I dread to think if one were to be thrown and hit someone, in the eye or face. That's the only problem I have with them, some knob think it's cool but then an innocent person gets hurt.

And the person who throws it cannot hide quick enough.

Haven’t an issue with smoke bombs. If the person bringing them in and using them is ok with the risk they’re taking, fine. It’s throwing them down onto people. That’s the big issue.

I've explained why people throw them.
If you remove the threat of serious punishment then you remove any need for people to throw them.
Which is why at Goodison and abroad people hold them cos they're allowed to get away with it.
I'll say it again...it is Draconian responses to being caught with a flare that is the problem and not the flare itself.

If you hold a flare safely and don't throw it.
You're fine.

If you light a flare and you throw it... you have the book thrown at you.

My mate got fined £500 for holding and then launching a flare at Brighton.
That was a spot fine too which he received after the game.
He was told it was illegal to bring one into the ground (he didn't,but someone else did.He drew the short straw was nominated if Palace scored)and to let it off.
Up to you if you want to do the same,but you will suffer the consequence if caught.
Have you ever let one off or would you prefer someone else to do it for you?

The reason there's been very few or even no accidents at Goodison or indeed abroad is because officials turn a blind eye.
Ergo, they are allowed to hold the flare aloft without the need to throw it.
All it does is create colorful atmos.

It is only the throwing part which is dangerous and they presumably only do this to avoid getting punished. It's the draconian response that is the issue here not the flare itself. Capiche?

If I got injured by one ...my stance would remain the same.
Just like I'd still be against speed cameras even if a speeding motorist nearly ran me over.
And I'd still be in favour of standing at football matches even if it meant falling down the aisle and breaking my leg during celebrations.

I don't know a single motorist who doesn't at least occasionally if not very very often drive one or two mph above speed limit.

Can I just point out, if you are going 32 in a 30, that's over the speed limit (by 2mph) and if you're not concentrating, you might have an accident involving a person, that could be a child.

If you're in favour of smoke bombs that's fine, but weigh up the possible consequences and have considerations for others.

If your the type of person who doesn't really care for the consequences then go ahead and smoke bomb all you like

The key to your point is "if they're not concentrating".
Lack of concentration, environmental hazards, inexperience or plain bad driving skills are nearly always the real killer, not so much speed per se.

And as I already pointed out...I have weighed up the consequences... like I do with most things in life, and drawn the conclusion that overall, if used correctly, smoke bombs are worth it.
But unlike most on here I respect your right to disagree.

Yes we used to play with fireworks and do stupid things which is why laws are introduced. Domestically bought ones will become illegal as they are in many countries like I believe Australia. There is nothing wrong with knives but people do stupid things with them so I’m not allowed to carry one legally. Laser pens, drones etc. the list goes on. As three3d says “used correctly,smoke bombs are worth it” I agree I used three in my house recently and haven’t seen a moth since. I have also been in a sinking ship but setting off flares was a job for the crew not me.

Did you watch the Marseille v Feyenoord match? The entire stadium was one big smoke bomb. And yeh sorry...looked class to me.
