General BFC Transfer Thread
I assume he wouldn't be anywhere near ready to challenge Tiago.
Could it be Bah?Doesn’t say Ake in the headline actually
Good shout, I can’t access his patreon and I don’t follow him on X so no ideaCould it be Bah?
I would make getting in a young centre back with first team experience a high priority. Ethan will probably leave us in the next 8 months and Kristoffer has been the subject of transfer interest recently. He may well look to leave to ensure first team football as he must want to cement his place in the Norwegian team at the upcoming championships. Our existing youngsters are very inexperienced save for Ji Soo. We can school a new recruit ready for next season to cover for injuries or departures that may occur during the summer.Going after another CB doesn't seem like a priority to me. We've Collins, SVB, Ajer vying for starting positions. Pinnock is probably in his last season with us but we've got Arthur and Ji Soo coming through. But if there's value in the market then I'm sure we'll look at it.
We need to move on some of those taking up wages. Onyeka, MPH, Maghoma etc and then look to likely replace Janelt with his contract situation, although we might get to an agreement yet. If we do, and I love Janelt but I can see him becoming a backup if we improve the overall level of the squad.
In an ideal world I'd like a box to box midfielder and a forward to challenge with Thiago. Other than that, we've got probably our best squad ever.
In my opinion the priority is to get Janelt and Jensen contracts extended. both expire June this year, Jensen has a club option of a 1 yr extension. Get them both to sign 2-3 yrs extended contracts.
How old was Modric?I love Jensen and he is playing well but he is thirty now...
So hes in his prime then?I love Jensen and he is playing well but he is thirty now...
Especially for a player whose game has never been based on blistering pace or brutish physicality. He only seems to be getting better. So hes in his prime then?
Nothing wrong with extending his contract because he is 30.
34 is the new 30. Every single player in the PL is unbelievably fit and can stay at or near their peak well into their 30's, just look at how much work Hendo gets through at 35.I love Jensen and he is playing well but he is thirty now...
As a 33-year-old, you have just won my heart.34 is the new 30. Every single player in the PL is unbelievably fit and can stay at or near their peak well into their 30's, just look at how much work Hendo gets through at 35.
Plus, as @Windmill Rd Bee has pointed out, his skillset is technical and not physical, which will enable him to play longer and hopefully even continue to get better.
If PG makes the decision to not sign an attacker this window, we'll petition him to get you in on a youth contractAs a 33-year-old, you have just won my heart.
Get a room, you two!As a 33-year-old, you have just won my heart.
I can’t imagine there’s a hard-and-fast rule – a number of our January signings have been opportunistic. If PG makes the decision to not sign an attacker this window, we'll petition him to get you in on a youth contract![]()
so? Henderson is older.I love Jensen and he is playing well but he is thirty now...
Aged 30?I’d take Nathan Ake from City. £21 million apparently.
I was wondering if we might try to use that to our advantage, or given our recent form if we think the chances of making europe mean a calculated gamble even with an inflated asking price is worth it?Our current league position probably doesnt hurt our negotiating position I suspect.
I dont believe we'd be doing anything especially rash. We don't do rash. But its definitely a convenient time to be sitting in around the european spots while the window is open, should any agents have 'ideas'I don't think we'll do anything significant now.
agree, but we can do much better than Wilson. If demand is high, I wouldn't be surprised to see a player from 'lower' european leagues.Hoping one of the younger signings is a central striker we can have as depth. If not, someone like Callum Wilson on the last day of the window as a back up option until the end of the season. Only takes a Thiago injury/suspension and then we have to tinker around with Schade or Dango as the central option which isn't bad, but I'd like to have someone there with their outright preferred position.
Ronaldo is nearly 40I love Jensen and he is playing well but he is thirty now...
I’d think the possibility of signing an upgrade or two now is more likely. MB & PG have always said the intention is for European football. We’ve never had a better opportunity than were we are now, which I find amazing after the summer turmoil. The same way the club wouldn’t panic and completely change their strategy if we’d lost 4 of our last 5, I doubt they’ll put their feet up and relax because we’ve won 4 of our last 5. We don’t really NEED anything, but that Wissa money is still there, and I imagine if the right player at the right price is available they’d probably still view an opportunity to bring someone in the same way they would’ve a few weeks ago.
On the outgoings side I imagine 2/3 of Nunes, Konak, MPH, Maghoma will go out on loan, maybe even sold in MPH and Maghoma’s case. 1 maybe 2 of Cox, Eyestone, Balcombe probably loaned out as well.
Problem is, who’s gonna want to come here and sit on the bench behind Thiago whilst also being good enough to replicate him if he’s out. It either needs to be a kid or an experienced pro.agree, but we can do much better than Wilson. If demand is high, I wouldn't be surprised to see a player from 'lower' european leagues.
Have they? .......... old fart here ...... be careful what you wish for....without wishing to put any sort of downer on things, I personally don't think we're anywhere near ready for European football... to make any sort of impression you need virtually two players of equal standing in every position.I’d think the possibility of signing an upgrade or two now is more likely. MB & PG have always said the intention is for European football. We’ve never had a better opportunity than were we are now, which I find amazing after the summer turmoil.

Agree fully but, part of growing the club is qualifying for Europe. We may or may not be ready, but football is not like that is it. I think of say Arsenal when they first got into the Champions league, they struggled to get out of the league stage, you have to start somewhere. Also we have attracted strong, ambitious, clever people who now run our club. You cannot now say to them, take your foot off the accelerator we dont want Europe, we are not ready. What will be will be, but it will all be part of growing the club.Have they? .......... old fart here ...... be careful what you wish for....without wishing to put any sort of downer on things, I personally don't think we're anywhere near ready for European football... to make any sort of impression you need virtually two players of equal standing in every position.
Realistically, let's continue to grow the Club, enjoy our lofty league position, and maybe, just maybe, have a good pop at the domestic cups.
Smiffy, "you're getting far too sensible in your old age"![]()
Agree, i think it all comes down to the numbers. We may not be looking aggressively, but if the deal for us is good we will do it imo.I’d think the possibility of signing an upgrade or two now is more likely. I don't think we are less or more likely to do anything in the window than we were a month ago.I don't think we'll do anything significant now.
Safety !!Please no to Ake. No pace and would cost us a fortune. Close to safety and would rather we give time to some of the youngsters to prove they have a future
They have, PG mentioned it some time ago. Natalie Sawyer was on Talksport this afternoon and also confirmed the view of MB and PG aim is for this. Whether it’s this, next season or after those that’s up to the guys with the money. My point is only this window we are in a position that ( with a possibility of European footy ) we will be a more attractive proposition to some players I would have thoughtHave they? .......... old fart here ...... be careful what you wish for....without wishing to put any sort of downer on things, I personally don't think we're anywhere near ready for European football... to make any sort of impression you need virtually two players of equal standing in every position.
