He’s still going to play T20 for England.

50 over cricket dying sadly.
Said a while back that it wouldn't survive with T20 becoming so popular. The hundred was the final nail in the coffin for it, I reckon the next 50 over world cup will be the last one.

Ridiculous events in the Leicestershire v Glamorgan match today.

Last week, Leics notched up 756-4 in their second innings in a drawn match with Sussex. In their current match, they scored 584 all out only for Glamorgan to score 795-5 and end up winning by an innings and 28 runs. Northeast of Glamorgan (a player, not a location) scored 410 not out, the third highest individual score in the Championship ever.

Today i was awarded the Middlesex County Cricket League player of the week award for my 8 for 28 on Saturday.
Well done.

Middlesex CCC could do with figures like that.

Our (England) white ball cricket is slightly off the boil. both odi and t20. hopefully a blip. Morgan was a brilliant captain - very hard act to follow.

50 over cricket dying sadly.
Especially with all the best players being hoovered up by The Hundred, instead of being allowed to play in what use to be the premier one day competition.

First T20 of Five between Ireland and Afghanistan today.

The Afghans looked to be heading towards 200, but Ireland taking wickets at the right time, have reeled them in.

Is this on tv anywhere. Have a big void of cricket to watch until the test starts.

Stunning knock by Ben Green in Somerset's defeat today!!!

157 runs
84 balls
10 fours
12 sixes
Somerset were 197/8 in the 37th over. 333 all out in the 50th with Ogborne and Baker scoring 5 runs between them!!!

Why is it that most wicket keepers are decent batsmen?
I know this is a slightly odd answer but it is really because the ones who aren't don't make it. You simply can't have a wicket keeper who can't bat, it'd be too much of a luxury

India v Pakistan in the Asia Cup later today.

Should be fun.

Have Matthew Wade and Sam Torrance (and James Finlayson) ever been seen together?

I don't think I've seen an easier catch dropped than that in the India v Pakistan game in the Asia Cup.

General Cricket Thread

Some very dodgy fielding from Indian there.

They should only have been two runs, instead they left it for each other and it went for four.

Pakistan need 7 of the last over with six wickets in hand.

Played a game at a ground in Hampshire where 6s to one boundary were given out as there had been so many complaints like this.
I played in a game where Jason Pooley hit a massive six. Suddenly starts shouting f*** no f*** no. Put it through his own windscreen!

Probably an indication of where the Royal London Cup stands in the pecking order of English cricket given the lack of posts on here about Kent's win yesterday.

Anyway, great win, Kent's fielding was the difference and great for club legend Darren Stevens to end his Kent career with a trophy at the ripe old age of 84.

This is probably because the competition has become for some Counties more like a second eleven one.If you provide players for the various England teams, you are severely weakened.Lancashire had 8 or 9 first team players unable or not allowed to play...I think the ECB would be very happy to see the 50/50 competition wither and die, which it sadly seems to be doing. The same is happening in the Championship...a reduction in the numbers of matches to be played is actively under consideration. How that would help the Test team is questionable but nothing must be allowed to stand in the way of The 100.Look at the dates for the Ashes next year.Cricket as we have known it will not exist in 10 years' time.It will be franchise cricket all year round;the best players will inevitably end up there.

I think 4/5 day cricket will survive, however 50 over cricket is almost done unfortunately.

A very odd penalty run ??

Fielder put on the discarded glove of the keeper when he was standing at the stumps waiting to try and run out batsman

Yes great fielding..... apart from that which was just bizarre. If we had lost that in a close finish that would have been an absolute disaster.

26 wickets on the first day of Essex v Lancashire, …….so far!!!
?
Lancs 131 all out
Essex 107 all out
Lancs 7/6 in their second innings!!!! (Snater has 4-6 in three overs!!!)

Also interesting to see that the wicket at Taunton seems to be favouring batting today (Somerset 266/4)
The home side will stay up with a couple of draws…..not chasing the win…..no pitch inspector required this year it would seem…..?

Scores are at least we made sure that no county cricket was played in August to ensure we had high quality like this.

f*** the hundred and f*** the ECB.

couldn’t agree more, this season is the last for me following the four day stuff, they’ve made a joke of it. Gutted.

Points deduction at Essex or Hampshire ??

Lancashire win by 39 runs after being 7 for 6 in the 2nd innings! 23 wickets at Hampshire yesterday but much more benign today with Kent currently at about 200 for 4 for the day.

Snater 6-10 and finishes on the losing side. Amazing. This round has been a bit of a joke.
