I think this ODI/T20 series with Pakistan and South Africa was hastily arranged at short notice. I believe Covid in South Africa resulted in decimating the cricket calendar
Didn't Australia refuse to go there?

Glamorgan beat Somerset by 4 wickets at Taunton in a 3 day friendly today after Somerset had beaten Worcestershire in a similar fixture last week.
County championship starts Thursday. Middlesex v Somerset at Lords.

Very poor form.

How has the umpire not seen that though?

He couldn't see the ball. Which hand was it in? So the umpire trusted the WK. Poor show.

For Hampshire not to own up and admit their wrongdoing is just as poor too.

WK should receive a 2 game, minimum, ban.

I'm all for calling people out re cheating and one of the first to do so but in this instance it's a really weird one. The Wicket Keeper never appeals for the stumping. He's appealing for the catch behind as his focus is solely on the umpire behind the stumps. The other players probably won't have even realised he's taken the bails off when the wrong hand and i'm not sure the Keeper would even be thinking about it either as he's not appealed for the stumping. Agreed, on the surface it doesnt look good but I can quite easily understand why no-one called the batsman back. Bigger fault is with the umpires surely ?

For my sins I am sharing a Daily Fail article. Is anyone excited by ‘The Hundred’?

No, it’s just embarrassing, the attempt to create a new ‘product’ that’s so close to t20. As for the proposed change of terminology from ‘wickets’ to ‘outs’, well thats desperate, and patronising. Would ‘bat and ball’ be easier for viewers than ‘cricket’?

The amount of money that ECB has thrown at this is also embarrassing and shocking. They need it to be a success. It may well be for a niche market. A 10 ball over is just not cricket.

Am I excited by it as a concept? No! Am I looking forward to seeing more cricket (just about) on terrestrial TV? Yes, actually!

There are some daft ideas here but at least the sport's profile should grow a little bit. Who knows, it might turn out to be quite fun! :)

Let's see. Could be fun but equally could be embarrassing. Then again I didn't think T20 would survive but it has probably overtaken ODI.

My boys up against your lot Spider. I’d say an even first day, just a shame we let Davies and Overton put on a hundred. Hopefully the sun shines tomorrow for our batsmen

Listening to Kent Yorkshire today made the usual round of teams calls much more bearable.

This is cheating. No other words for it.

I agree.

Useless info. My son played as WK in the under 15s national cup against Lewis and they beat them. Lewis played for Poole Town who didn’t have the same ethos as my sons team. I guess Sportsmanship starts early in life.

Bit old for the under 15's?

Yes it does. There is something about watching cricket that one expects the highest sportsmanship that is sadly lacking in other sports, notably football. I really can’t stand cheats, and it could be any player for any team, including my mate Sreesanth.

I am surprised this hasn’t been posted yet. Ben Stokes wisden cricketer of the year for 2020. With a batting average of just under 60. With him needed surgery on his finger his next England game most likely to be against India in the tests. Anyway well deserved on the backdrop of his father passing away.

Ollie Robinson 9-78 for Sussex v Glamorgan is decent work. Must be close to an England cap,

As expected India on the UK travel 'red list'. Could have implications certainly for the World Test Final in June but even the test series. Let's hope not.

I don't think there will be an issue. England have an excellent bio secure bubble system and the summer should see a drop in cases numbers. Its a must see series and has the hallmarks of being a classic. India will want to win in England.

Why will the summer in India see a drop in case numbers?

Kent had a 9th wicket partnership today of 166 falling 5 short of a county record. However, the remarkable thing about it is that one of the batsmen, Miguel Cummins scored just ONE run. There were 5 extras and the other 160 were scored by the youngster Darren Stevens !!

Tomorrow I am coming to watch our PO adventure, had I not been attending then I’d be umpiring with a certain Devon Malcolm umpiring at the other set of stumps.?
I feel I’m missing out.

Darren Stevens is an incredible cricketer, seems to be getting better the even older he gets !!

?
Game I played in for Feltham Garrison CC a few years back:

"283 Runs scored by Seb Coe (no relation) for Sampford Arundel in chasing a target of 332 to beat Feltham Garrison by one wicket in Somerset. In a last-wicket stand of 107 with their non-cricketing local landlord he hit... 107" ?

;)

It was a great watch on the Kent stream after the Surrey v Middx game was rained off.

One of the five players to receive a 2021 Wisden Cricketer of the Year award - Darren Stevens, The Oldest Wisden Cricketer Of The Year In 88 years

Yes. Had a really rough time - could barely get a run for Lancs seconds for a while but turned it around when he went to Notts.

Amazed that he has been catapulted back in so fast. Doesn’t place total belief in the other top order batters
