Yep first time I think WI won a test match in Australia since 1997. Really hope young WI fans are watching this.

There has to be several windows in the year where only test cricket is played.

It's not the games that are the problems. It's trying to pack the schedule full of t20 leagues, so that the games don't get played. Or teams play weekend teams.

I agree about T20 cricket but unfortunately it is where the money is at the moment. I just think test cricket is here to stay for a long time or at least I hope it is as I know which format is the best ?

A lot of incomptent umpires in those days - Koerzen, BC Cooray, Jayprakash.

A number of bad English ones also during the 80's - Ken Palmer, Merv Kitchen were bad, as was David Constant

Wow. Remember watching this series at the time on Sky - completely forgot how many shocking decisions there were. Thank the lord for DRS now. Not perfect - annoying at times but far better than the umpiring in that series.

Worse than harsh, that's cheating from the Fielding side as far as I'm aware. If someone did that in a club cricket match and I'm the captain then I'm taking my team off the field.

I don't get what satisfaction you get out of getting a wicket like that. They should be ashamed of them. There coach as an adult should have told them to withdraw the appeal.

Interesting watching Tom Hartley.As a junior he didn't play much cricket because he was at the Everton Academy.He began to concentrate on cricket at about 13.
The best young left arm spinner/slow bowler in Lancashire a few years ago was Adam Wharton.....he did the opposite and decided to leave representative cricket in favour of the Blackburn Rovers Academy...and it has certainly worked out for both of them.

Absolutely gutted to read this. When BBC did cricket properly then Gloucestershire were one of the best one day sides and went far in the Gillette Cup and Mike Proctor was the star turn. His devastating fast bowling off the wrong foot and his attacking batting was box office. I am sure that He got a fantastic hat trick in one game and you just had to watch when he was bowling or batting.
A sad loss to the game and thanks for helping my love of cricket. RIP
