Ouch to the selectors. My own view should have stayed on as captain until the 2023 WC. A bit of fire in his belly - can see him scoring big in SA.

Not much chance of England producing a high class spinner when two thirds of the season will be played outside of the summer months and very likely on green wickets.

I’ve learnt not to be horrified by what happens in cricket all over the world. What he said is very much an old fashioned view but as I said there is an ‘element’ of truth in it - more so his comments regarding Asians. Obviously he could have worded it better and there are huge obstacles other than what he mentioned that is preventing good young ethnic minorities progressing at first class level in England. I have read/ listened to far worse.

That message is that Black and South Asian men and women have terrible representation at every level of cricket, right from grass roots in my experience. It's just a shame that this guy, saying things with absolutely the right intentions of it being a challenge to overcome, now sees himself being pulled apart for the language he used. This guy doesn't seem like a racist to me, probably just can't keep up with the immense rulebook needed on how to have open debate without someone taking offence. Very pleased he bothered, he'll probably have to retire now and let some other poor f***er pick his (or her) way through the minefield.

It's a recent trend that people tend to find fault into anything someone says. Mike O'Farrell comments were just poorly worded. I have no doubt he meant well although it didn't come across well. There have been many prominent asian players (looks at Moeen and Rashid) in the cricketing world in the UK whom in part have said what he said. There are many things to be angry about in the world of cricket and people like Mike O'Farrell is the least of the issues.

As I said yesterday, this honestly didn't bother me but people are so easily offended these days and one can't have a proper debate without being accused of being a racist/ or anti this or anti that. I won't even bother looking what twitter has said about him.

My county, Sussex, has a long, proud history of welcoming players from different cultures and ethnic origins going back decades

Just not very adept at keeping decent players these days.
