This bloke hasn't had a management job since 2009. Seems his job these days is as a pundit "not afraid to air his opinions".

Interesting precis of his time at Stoke. Sounds impeccably qualified to comment on a club's transfer business.

He became manager of English side Stoke City for the 2005–06 season.[3][4] Stoke's Icelandic board wanted the club to start mounting a serious attempt at gaining promotion to the Premier League, and so decided a change in style was required, with Boskamp replacing Tony Pulis. He brought in a number of foreign players, which included Carl Hoefkens, Hannes Sigurðsson, Junior N'Galula and Martin Kolář, as well as domestically-based players such as Marlon Broomes, Paul Gallagher, Mamady Sidibe, Peter Sweeney and Luke Chadwick. He also broke the club record transfer fee with a £950,000 signing of Standard Liège striker Sambégou Bangoura. However, results were often poor, and after a number of heavy home defeats to Watford, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City, supporters began asking questions. Bangoura then went on a good run of form scoring seven goals in six matches, as Stoke won six matches in November and December to give them a platform to build on going into the new year.[4] But, in one of those wins away at Coventry City, Boskamp and his assistant Jan de Koning and director of football John Rudge were involved in an argument, which led to Boskamp almost resigning.[4][5]

Stoke began 2006 in terrible form, winning just one match in ten, and scoring a mere six goals in that time.[4] Bangoura had been away on international duty with Guinea, and failed to return to the club at the agreed date, which caused the shortage of goals; with Stoke's season fizzling out, with no chance of promotion, Boskamp was not offered a new contract by Gunnar Gíslason.[6] With the Icelandic board failing to gain promotion to the Premier League, and with debts now at around £5 million, chairman Gunnar Gíslason put the club up for sale, and he sold the club back to former chairman Peter Coates.[7][8] Coates then re-appointed Tony Pulis as manager, who had spent the season with Plymouth Argyle.[9]
I'm sure @Merchant will have an opinion on this but pretty sure ex-Anderlecht means he's not a big FC Brugge fan, so not sure his opinion is particularly valid in this scenario.

Aren’t most signings not normal, massive fees for players on the improve? Hopefully their “Chris Sutton” is just a tit.

16 different management jobs in 28 years. Never heard of him before the article above but I already suspect he's a ****.

Sounded attention seeking, bitter, twisted, jealous and trying to score points. Views to be ignored and discounted

I think the fact it’s a record transfer fee for the Belgian League makes it appear a bigger ‘risk’ than it is from our perspective, still amount of money, but that is the going rate these days

I wonder what having a European Cup winners medal will do his perceived valuation? Into the last 8 of the Conference so it's a possibility. Would he be our most highly decorated player ever in that scenario?

Thiago starts today in the 1st game of x10 as they go into the Championship playoffs for the top six clubs. (k.o. 12:30hrs).

Have we all decided that he is a busted flush already :bounce:

Or is he keeping his powder dry :king:

Bruges derby at Cercle.

Igor Thiago

finished 1-1 , he didnt score and got a 7.2 rating . The Belgium league is a bit sh*t isnt it ? He should be scoring 5 every game to cost 37m Euros

Igor Thiago

I saw the last 15 minutes, he won everything physically and probably should have scored with a header. Looked quite static around the box but was probably tired. I think he’ll be more raw than the price suggests but plenty of potential.

Really not convinced by this signing. He's not scoring at all at the moment in a crap league. It's a shame we have wasted so much money.
When I see posts like this, my first thoughts are:
1. Knows nothing about Brentford
2. Does a knowledgeable Brentford fan think in this way?
,3. Can't be a Bees fan.

Igor Thiago

Bit late to add that to a post. Should be adding it at the time to take effect, especially if you're expecting bites.
I didn't expect the bites! I thought it was obvious and was surprised anyone believed such a post ?‍♂️

Seems like a big gamble signing this bloke for all that dosh. One can only hope he's not a dud like some of Brentfords other expensive recent signings.
Who do you consider a dud signing?
I’ll concede we haven’t seen Mikel at his best yet, Hickey and Schade both look special but injured. Collins and KLP both for the future but were superb vs United at the weekend.

You must be aware of this bloke?
He hangs around the match day threads when we are losing like the old women knitting around the guillotine.

Don't even bother with this guy, he'll drown in his own misery soon enough.

The other Lost Bee can only reinforce the above. On the match day thread, he's the first on the player's back as soon as they go behind. Just the way the poster is.

Will Igor be “The Beast From Brazil” or “The Copacabana Carthorse” (Or somewhere in the middle)?

Igor Thiago

I think it’s a joke, we’ve spent £30M and he’s big, static and can’t score in a rubbish league, we’re doomed

Christ ! that takes me back to when i was a kid, i asked my father if our new striker John O'Mara was any good.

I'm with you..if I post a sarcastic comment I assume it's obvious enough that I don't need the fishing emoji! Doesn't stop some people from jumping on it though!

Igor Thiago

I know this all tongue and cheek but can anyone remember the last "flop" we bought who played upfront, halil dervisoglu ?

Igor Thiago

Might I suggest we wait until he's had a season or two playing for us before we finally decide he's a bit tosh? Let alone the fact he hasn't even kicked a ball in a Brentford shirt yet!

He's young, he'll need time to adapt. He isn't going to come in and be an Ivan Toney replica from day 1. Oh, and it's not our money!
