Hopefully, it's not a severe grade 111 MCL injury and there's no associated injury to ACL, PCL or meniscus. If not, he should be OK for the pre-season. Fingers crossed.

Hi namesake. I just get jealous of the wealth of knowledge of gpgers on matters such as medical conditions, player contracts and insurance for footballers. I feel most inadequate, I don’t mind telling you.

Personally, I didn’t expect Igor to be thrown straight into battle anyway. I think our current pacey, dynamic mini squad of forwards/attacking midfielders are in possession of the jersey. Igor may well join this “squad”, but perhaps as a bit part player until he earns the right to be the new messiah.

I see no urgent need to centre our whole strategy around another big man up front (acknowledging that Ivan has been more than just that, of course), although it will be great to have this option in our arsenal.

In summary, I’m trying to say it’s not a big panic if he’s not 100% fit for the start of the season.

I think his pressing madness, pace and strength will be unleashed as soon as possible tbh, fingers crossed we can get him playing some of the friendlies.

Curious if he arrives early for medical work. Presumably, he's not going to play for Brugge again... not saying they would give him less than stellar care in recovery, but it would change when he comes to Brentford. May make more sense for him to arrive early for treatment to keep the recovery with the same group of doctors and begin familiarizing himself with the team/area.

I’d guess we need him as soon as possible based on recovery, for fitness and conditioning. I doubt the Belgian League is as demanding as the Premier League and our own standards.

Absolutely - get him fit, he cost us a massive amount of money. Why on earth would we be bleeding him in slowly, bit part player? Madness. He's the starting ST/CF for season opener surely.

Agreed. We’ve probably played our best football this season on the occasions when Ivan has not played but most other forwards have been available (especially Bryan). Just because we’ve paid big money for this guy does not mean he’s shoehorned straight in. He has to learn our ways, get up to speed, and fight his way in. In the meantime, with everyone fit up front, our attacking capability is the least of our worries.

So if Toney wasn’t sold what would happen then? He only cost £10m but valued excess £50m. Isn’t it the value now rather than cost, otherwise FTT would play every week ?

Personally I do see Wissa (or Maupay) starting in the centre with Thiago coming off the bench. £32m or not he'll need time to integrate into the team and the country so not putting that pressure on him straight away is probably wise. Build him into the team gradually.

He didn't need time to integrate into the Belgian way of playing when joining Club Brugge from Ludogorets in Bulgaria. He was pretty much banging them in from the off. I get that the Premier League is a bigger step up but so is the Bulgarian League to the Belgian Pro League or the Championship to the Premier League and Ivan found it easy.

I think we need to give him a bit more credit. This guy is going to be a beast next season, hopefully from gameweek 1.

not sure about GW1 as he will probably not have much of a preseason

I don't think it has been revealed yet. Just mention of medial ligament damage. Assuming (big if) there is no other damage such as acl and it is just medial, the range seems to be from 4 - 16 weeks depending upon severity. So worst case from what I can glean (no medical background) could be September for getting into full training...

HUGE win for Club Brugge vs Anderlecht means they are on cusp of the title! ?

Final day derby vs Cercle Brugge, a point guarantee it (but they seem to have it sewn up anyway with a massively better GD?).
Fingers crossed Igor doesn’t injure himself in any celebrations!
