I gave up really when I realised that even professional commentators couldn't handle Damsgaard ( something like "doms-gorre") or Norgaard.

I can excuse fans getting it wrong. Lord knows I make lots of mistakes with unfamiliar foreign names. But it irks me when professionals can't even be bothered to find out the correct pronunciation.

In Brazilian Portuguese the combination of "ti" or "thi" is usually pronounced "chee" not "tee".

I think his name probably should be something like "char-go". Even then in most of Brasil the "r" is pretty glottal. Not easy for Brits to pronounce absolutely correctly!

Having said that, Brasil is a huge country and there are lots of regional variations in pronunciations.

Could we just keep it simple and call him James, or Jimmy? (Or maybe Jacob).
