Igor Thiago

Thiago showed a real turn of pace whilst chasing a ball. He looked a lot lot faster than I had thought.

Also noticed that when he moved into channels to create a link, his next movement was to head for the middle of the box, which might not sound like much, but it's his instinct to get into goalscoring positions. I confidently predict he's going to contribute very positively to the team. We have also have to bear in mind that he's not had a preseason, so it will take him a few weeks more to really contribute at full speed.

We also noticed that he was constantly moving around, when off the ball, which means the defence has to be constantly monitoring him.

Just like his movement, strength ?, work rate and attitude in his two cameo appearances. He's going to be a very good signing for us.

Absolutely spot on. I’m all for encouraging a new player, especially when he’s been cruelly held up by injury so far. But this was bizarre. The bloke’s been accorded legendary status before he’s done fk all. Let’s hope he fulfils his promise, of course, but might this just pile unnecessary pressure on the lad? Seems confident, so hopefully not!

Anyway, not sure I like the song. I’m led to believe his name is pronounced more like “Chaago”, so would’nt even scan with this tune.

And even it was a three syllable name, a much better option would be a variant of “Anything goes” (Monty Python), imho.

Agreed, would start him at Chelsea although it's not our goal scoring thats been the issue this season is it. We've conceded more goals than bloody Ipswich.

Pretty much everything has been an issue away albeit against sides you’d not expect to pick many points up from away.

One of our issues is our forwards collectively not turning and performing away from home. It would be a start

I think we will need the team to get drilled in switching to a play style that works with this and it’ll take a little time to get comfortable with that as an in game switch. It may be that while Thiago is being eased into the team the initial expectation will be for him to learn how the team currently plays before we make that bigger tactical switch.

I’m reminded of a comment from Kyle Walker in Haaland’s first season where he was asked how hard it had been to adjust to having Haaland in the team as a very different striker to what they’d had. His response was that it had been more a case that Haaland had had to adjust (rather well and quickly!) to how they played.

So we need a bit of patience (as ever) before we see Thiago fully unleashed. Particularly as we’re having to cope with other forced changes like getting KLP bedded in at LWB, missing both Norgaard and Jensen in midfield. Those will need to be prioritised over changing an attacking approach which has been successful already.

Will need time to adapt but you can't not be excited by the prospect of a fully up to speed Thiago leading the line for us - hopefully pretty quickly!
