Club Brugge are looking good for a play off place too currently. I think I've just about worked out how the Belgian Pro League play offs work! Might have a little jolly over there to catch a game seeing as we have two potential new players playing for them, and it's a nice play to go for a weekend regardless. Anyone know whether they tend to sell out every week or if it's easy to get tickets?

Capacity is 29000, got 17000 last game, 24000 for the Bruges derby

It’s a cracking place for a weekend away. Excellent bars, good food, friendly people and lots of touristy stuff.

Not sure I agree with this.....when he was available and Bryan fit, our preference was Ivan-Bryan up front. If Igor is the new Ivan, which is the assumption, cant see why it wouldnt Igor-Bryan going forward.

I reckon TF gets no more than a showreel until he's signed.

We really need to get someone in to understudy Thiago. Madness to have him after Toney goes as our sole CF who can press and also drop back to help the defence and create. I won’t sleep until that glaring hole in the squad is filled by a young, cheap, uninjurable player who can slot into leading a PL attack immediately when called upon but be happy sitting on the bench most of the time.

For the reason I mentioned, that Toney's all round game is probably a lot stronger. Just a first impression though, and I've no doubt he'll continue to develop given he's only 22

100%. In a way I'm just pointing out the obvious, that this new guy isn't gonna come in and be Toney Mark II straight away, so we'll probably have to use him a bit differently rather than just expect him to fulfil the Toney role immediately.

So true. A kind of shadow squad that ensures we are never short of players. Why can’t we be more like Forest.

Brugges get the same total money, Nusa comes with less liability

Sounds like nonsense. Why would we sign a binding contract before due diligence was completed? So the scenario described is one where Brentford can the Nusa deal, Brugge cut up rough so we panic and say ‘sorry about that, I’ll tell you what, have you anybody else we can buy for about the same money. OK he’ll do’
Not sure I see a smart businessman like Benham getting involved in that. More plausibly we enquired about both players but Thiago was not for sale, Brugge President puffs his chest about a record deal for Nusa then it falls flat. Suddenly Thiago is available so he keeps face.
Typical Bees dignity in that we let Brugge run with whatever story makes them feel better.

Yes there’s too much Unkown - all conjecture. I think this is all coming about due for the price. If we had paid £15mill don’t think anyone would have asked

As the club, are so squeaky, with balancing the books, my gut says they've already done the Toney deal. The medical experts know, all these ligaments and tendon injuries, don't always heal properly, or permanently, that should be a metric in their planning. Rico, Bryan Kristoff and Josh naturally overexert themselves. We are gonna need that money for contingency. I reckon Ivan and the club know where he's going. On subject, Thiago's vids and profile reminds me of Emille Heskey. So... plenty of tap ins, hold up play, headers and assists, nothing flashy, but all essential, for winning games

This is a really interesting reel and I can certainly see the likeness to Ivan. The key will surely be to give him time - a lot seem to have said it's taken him time to settle in Belgium but has been great since he has; in a similar way this reel shows the confidence and dominance in his domestic league. We'll need to show that patience as a fanbase because he's highly unlikely to walk in the door and score 20 goals season 1 (especially as I don't believe he speaks English).... though fingers crossed!

These are not the same player profiles, on the one hand you have an 18 year old guy that all the biggest clubs have been following for a long time, and on the other a 22 year old Brazilian striker who had two good months in Belgium in a dominant team. I can't even imagine how we can put the same amount on both

It’s a very odd conversation! It starts off with ‘Data Scout’ questioning how Thiago can be worth 37M€, then ends up with Tavolieri making this ‘broken contract’ assertion. I doubt that is true as we’re not going to sign one player after a bit of a disagreement on another. I guess we’ll never know what went on.

Most of the responses are just whataboutery.

I agree regarding Ivan. As he’s the biggest asset at the club, I’m sure they already know and in truth have known for a while now. Both for TF to plan but also to plan on allocating the income. Would explain the slightly jokey nature of the way Ivan responds to the rumours.
He changed his agent recently too. This signing simply confirms what we already know

Something I've learnt from this transfer is the significance of the Star of David in Brazilian society.

Appears to be a good luck charm to aid a journey.
