Inexperienced football related medical team = the level of injuries we get. Ridiculous

Most of the medical team have been with the club for years

Guess we’re keeping Toney then…

Probably doesn't change things....Toney could still leave on August 28th and play a couple of games for us, with Wissa then filling in the gap afterwards until Thiago is back.

Not sure we'd bin off a selling fee for a 1-3 month injury.

Igor Thiago

We have no idea what the injury is yet or the severity.
Official says meniscus injury.

A meniscus injury can take a long time to get better. A mild meniscus tear – especially for younger people – can get better in about four to twelve week

Igor Thiago

Evidence this please.

Edit:
Actually, don’t bother. You have form for talking b***ocks.
Evidence it? Really ?? why don’t you just look at our injuries for the last year. Open your eyes Jesus Christ

They have not mentioned a tear or if it is one, the severity of it. It could be strained instead. You are speculating at this point.

The fact that timeline says 'mild' when we have no idea whether it's mild or not isn't a great sign...

Get Samman back on a short term and play him up front . He’ll do a job.

Igor Thiago

A few things.

Firstly, how does anyone know it's 4-12 weeks out?
If Thiago travelled to Portugal with the injury, and he's able to put weight on his knee, that's pretty positive.
I had a horizontal tear in my meniscus, which acts as a shock absorber for your knee. So, if you like, it's like dropping your phone that is protected by a case cover. Normally, it'll be fine. But it is possible that your screen still might get cracked.

I couldn't walk properly for 6 months, couldn't put weight on my right knee for 2 months and had to use crutches, and I was told I would never run or play any sport that impacts my knee ever again. I still feel the pain from time to time nearly ten years later.

However, if I had had a vertical tear, I was told that it would've been much easier to heal.

And, a meniscus injury has no bearing on our training methods, medical team, and as far as I know, there are no tests to assess someone's meniscus prior to signing them.

It's sheer bad luck and once he has his scans, we'll know the extent of his injury.

Yes. Please provide evidence that he level of injuries is related to the experience of our football related medical team.

You said it. Now time to back it up.

Igor Thiago

Very insightful response. Another one who’s completely drugged into thinking everything is just fine
Everything is just fine. Injuries happen. It is impossible to 100% prevent them.

YOU are actually the one chasing unicorns and fairy dust. Come join us in the real world, maybe.

You wrote something idiotic, so i concluded that you're an idiot. There is plenty of additional evidence. But maybe i made the same mistake you have...........

Two years ago I tore my ACL and meniscus. There are a few different grades of it and will require different procedures, but until the surgery(if necessary) he will be able to walk normally. The way I see it, there are 3 likely outcomes.
1. It is a relatively minor mensicus tear and does not require surgery, just rehab. This is generally unlikely just because the meniscus doesn't get a lot of blood flow which causes it to be very slow to heal something like this.
2. A small tear, which would require either a minor repair or a partial meniscectomy. The minor repair is what I had, just a single stitch to help it heal together appropriately. That would probably be 2-3 weeks of light work until he can start training fully. A partial meniscectomy requires more time to heal and would be more like 6-12, as well as we would see him in a brace to keep him from bending his knee at all to allow it to heal without the pressure that a bent knee would exert on the meniscus.
3. A large tear which requires significant action to fix. This is a 12 week recovery, just a more invasive and significant repair than the small tear mentioned above, also in a locked-out knee brace.

Scenario 2 is most likely but with our luck it will be 3. No way to tell without a scan. Also, I am not a doctor, just someone with a screwed up knee who has done a lot of research on it.

We also don't know whether it's a tear at all.

And there's a difference, from what I was told, between a vertical tear and horizontal one. Vertical tears are easier to heal than horizontal.

The striker, who scored a brace on his first appearance for the club, is unavailable for this evening's game against Benfica and will have further scans next week to determine the extent of the injury. More information will be released in due course.

It’s a fkin curse…..or our medical team ain’t great….not sure which one it is ???

The internal review of injuries & recovery has not done a thing .....heads need to roll !

Would be unusual to publish an article on the O/S for something they believe to be a strain, though. We're normally very coy (rightly IMO).
Inevitable there'd be questions if he missed tonight though, so hopefully just getting ahead of that.

This could easily have happened Sept 1st though... contingency plans are in place. That's elite sport for ya ?‍♂️

Come on geez, this is nonsense. No review is ever gonna stop everyone from twisting and tweaking. These things happen.

What were the findings of the review?
Have any changes been made?
How did Thiago’s injury happen?
How is his injury related to the medical team?

As you appear to be ITK, grateful if you could bring us all up to speed. Thanks.

A meniscus tear usually happens when you twist your knee while playing sport. But it can also happen from more minor injuries such as twisting when standing up. Symptoms of a meniscus tear include: knee pain or tenderness. stiffness or swelling around your knee – the swelling may not start for a few hours or days.

Meniscus tear recovery time: A mild meniscus tear – especially for younger people – can get better in about four to twelve weeks. But for older people – and unfortunately, I'm referring here to anyone over the age of 35 – it can usually takes three to six months, but often even longer.
Just as well I haven’t got that injury or you wouldn’t be seeing me till the new year earliest ?? our luck with injuries is beyond a joke …that hickey better be fkin back soon ??? we need some good news just for once from our medical team ??‍?

didnt it say it happened during the game?? yeah that’s the medicals teams job to make sure he isn’t being challenged isn’t it? its a contact sport, medical team help players recovery they dont prevent injuries.

One of my sons has torn his meniscus three times over the last few years. Problem is that it's like a bit of cloth that frays, each time you stitch it back together you have less material to work with. and twisting and turning becomes more perilous. They are experimenting with artificial replacements and you can get a donor one, if you have a benevolent corpse to hand.
