Many years ago I hurt my knee playing in a Sunday league game. There was an orthopaedic surgeon who held a surgery at the local hospital on Monday evenings, and he managed to fit me in for a consultation. Told me I'd torn my meniscus and would need an operation - the NHS waiting list then was 6 months(?). When I told him I had private insurance from my work, he asked: "What are you doing Thursday?" "Whatever you say, Doc" I replied.
Anyhow, I had the op on the Thursday, walked (gingerly) out of hospital next day and with the help of some physio, played again 5 weeks after that.
Now before anyone jumps in, my stumbling old Sunday morning efforts were nowhere near what is required to play in the PL (gross understatement!). But as against that, neither was I nearly so fit as Thiago will have been when incurring the injury (grosser understatement!). Nor will the rehab and training I received have been anything like that which BFC will be offering. Plus my operation was nearly 40 years ago i.e. in the early days of keyhole surgery in this country.
All of which suggests that if Thiago has suffered only a minor tear, he could be back soon enough. But if it's more serious, as others have experienced, it could be a good bit longer.
Here's hoping!
