Igor Thiago

TF said a few weeks ago that Thiago wasn't really match fit but was on the bench cos we needed him. Since then he's been seen in a few cameos where he saw very little of the ball.
Based on this, is anyone seriously suggesting any kind of judgement can be made about his ability or value for money? If they are, they should give their head a wobble for a couple of hours.

I hope he starts tomorrow and has a stormer. Otherwise, my £1 each-way on him being PL top goal scorer is looking a bit dicey...

I don't even know where to begin with the last few pages of this ? but just sums up the entitlement of a minority and probably the PL factor making some of our fans deluded.

The minority doubted Collins, KLP, Jensen, Damsgaard. So I think I'll continue backing TF and the coaching/recruitment team.
All of those players have kicked on after a difficult start to their Brentford careers. My concerned is if we lose Wissa and Mbeumo in the summer there is a lot of pressure on Igor to hit the ground running. There must also be concerns on his fitness, has hardly played in 18 month.

I actually thought he did well today - unlucky not to score with a decent looking header (I was in the far section if away end but looked good from there) and held it up well/ put himself about. He will 100% come good.

Igor Thiago

Christ almighty. Basically injured/ rehabbing since he’s been here. I don’t know how anyone can take anything other than precisely zero since he’s been here.

Igor Thiago

Decent headed chance when he came on (but I was at opposite end in JL9, haven't seen on TV yet). He looked a little off the pace in a few of his 1v1 moments, perhaps not fully adjusted to PL pace yet. But I haven't seen anything that worries me, so looking forward to what he does next season

Definitely looked closer to the pace of game and in tune with team than last week.

It would help a bit if we weren't so unbalanced when he comes on. Came on for Schade again but plays centrally close to Wissa, leaving a hole on the left. I'm sure it's by design but doesn't make a lot of sense to me

I agree. I don't think playing Wissa and Thiago from the start is going to work. For me, it's one or other and there's no debate about who deserves the spot for now.

Don’t panic!

Yes, after a full preseason

Thiago was a replacement for Toney. Unfortunately due to injury he wasn't available and Wissa filled in. I don't believe anyone foresaw just how well that would work out.
I agree it's one or the other but if Wissa stays it would give us a choice of starters and much needed cover.

What a luxury to have Igor coming back to fitness. It will take time but after a full pre-season and a clearer understanding of his role I am sure we will see the best of him. Imagine if we had to go into the market now to find an affordable CF?

Igor Thiago

In Igor there is 20 goals for us next season if he stays fit. I have the faith. ?

Igor Thiago

I would feel a lot better about him scoring 20 last season if he had just managed to get a single goal for us somehow this season!

Igor Thiago

I didnt watch the match but didnt he play really well against AFC Wimbledon in the match he first got injured? (yes ok its a league 2 team in a pre season friendly)

Igor Thiago

It worked very well when they both started at home to Newcastle.
Agree, I think Wissa would feed very well off Thiago. How the front line up with Schade and ( potentially) Bryan’s replacement is anyone’s guess.

Igor Thiago

I would love to know where and by whom.

I think it might have been me.

It was a cup game, and it was certainly rude beginnings.
I think I may have contextualised it in terms of cost of player etc.

I have since remembered that I also witnessed the debut of Paul Davis so in hindsight it was a harsh judgement.

I am surprised. I was sure you'd have seen Jide Olugbodi.

Igor Thiago

There have been hundreds worse.

I obviously hadn’t been assimilated into trusting the system at that point.

Your post may have been accurate based on the debut. Fortunately things got significantly better unlike in the case of Andy Rollings, David Geddes, Peter Beadle and many many others

Davis' career with us never moved from the centre circle.
I always wondered if he had 6 inch studs, meaning he literally couldnt move

He remembered it differently! Spent 5 games watching the ball being belted overhead, and retired! It was season’s start, so maybe some S/tickets sold…
Biggish cheese in FA coaching dept. now.

Igor Thiago

lol as if, let's endlessly speculate based on f*** all data for the next 11 weeks because we have nothing better to do :bounce:
No point. Our panel of experts have dissected all the stats and have concluded that he's no better than Murray Jones so, clearly, we need to cut our losses age get rid now.

Igor Thiago

Thiago and Schade will terrorise defences.

But they have 1 full season with us between them at the moment.

Their injury history is my slight concern.

If they stay fit it will be wonderful ✅

“No pressure Igor……”
Let’s hope he’s got a cool head. We’ll all be anxious, especially if he misses his first chance, but he’s most likely to be over-eager, so I hope our attacking coach (whoever that is) is focusing on the calm finishing that was apparent with our front three last season.

In his first game against Wimbledon he took 2 first half chances very calmly.
