Igor Thiago

He needs WAY more time it seems. If he does end up being worth the £30m, we won't see it for quite some time yet imo.

Igor Thiago

Needs 5 full games as looks not match fit still…we will have a better idea after that and I’m still not sure if he’ll be any good or not …I don’t think anyone does really including KA?
We will see….

Igor Thiago

Fully agree with the lack of sharpness etc, almost seemed to a hard behind where the ball was.

Disappointing that when he did get onto the ball he didn't do much with it. The header in the first half was woeful (maybe unsighted? Hopefully he has an excuse!). And there was a shot in the second that Cavalho took from distance, the keeper parried it straight out and Thiago was just standing watching. A player with a true striker's instinct is alert to that sort of thing (match fit or not).

He showed more in the couple of games he played last season, I think, so hopefully plenty more to come from him!

Igor Thiago

He doesn't even have the luxury of easing into a well honed front line of Wissa and Mbeumo and hasn't been able to play with Schade tonight or at Rara's.He was alone up front with a huge gap to midfield.

Anyway it's what you expect from pre season and even in the first few games of the season proper, players are still getting up to speed.

Igor Thiago

Thought he was a constant handful for the defenders and just had no one close to him most of the time, laid off a couple of good balls that lead to shots and flicked a few on with no one within 25 yards of him.

Lots of the time he had 2 to 3 defenders on him and was isolated, got no service in the box either apart from the one he laid off for Carvalho. Rusty still but most of the team were, he creates space for others and isn’t slow.

Igor Thiago

Anyone writing him off is fkin clueless imo.
We had essentially zero service to him and no wingers.
We barely pressed the opposition in the first half and Thiago was pretty isolated. Seemed to lose most, if not all, of his aerial duels.
Early days yet and I’m sure we’ll soon see an improvement.

I don’t think we need to “see an improvement” personally. I don’t think £150m Isak would have done any better. Our problem was 80% on the wings and a questionable midfield.

Igor Thiago

He seems much more "fox in the box" than old fashioned number 9 to me.

I think he will score lots of goals but may leave people a little frustrated with the rest of his game.

I may be on my own with this though and likely completely wrong

Igor Thiago

I thought his hold up play and touch was fine.

However he seemed to lack pace and sharpness. Given how littles hes played in the last year thats not too surprising.

However, we will need another striker to take the pressure/demand off him. As it will take a while before hes firing on all cylinders.

Igor Thiago

He looked fit and pressed well, he looked like he couldn't wait to get rid of the ball though. Hopefully he gets abit more comfortable and confident as games go by

Early days but I don’t think he’s ever won an aerial duel so balls in the air to him are pointless.

He still looks way off the pace to me, sorry.

He flicked several on in the first half and had no one near him, he was also competing with two CBs on his own for most long balls. The issue was players were not close enough to him the whole game, even in the second half at times.

Last season in the Newcastle and Everton game I remember him being good in the air as well.

Agree with this , but I think his strength will be having the ball to feet. KLP and fab didn't anywhere near him in the first half. That improved in the second half.

Second half was so much better and agree, much stronger into feet. The first half was brainless, punting a ball 70 yards to a guy with no one near him, never going to end well. Carvalho tried to work off him with his hold up play more, KLP still thought he was playing LWB at times.

Schade will really help Thiago and give him an outlet in behind.

Apart from missing a good chance when he headed over he didn’t go much wrong with the limited amount of service he got.He was isolated most of the time but looked fit and very mobile just needs to get games under his belt and some better support. This is a bloke who has never played 90 minutes for us so cut him some slack.

He needs players around him, he can’t do it all on his own… it is that simple. Keith seemed to be forever encouraging playing to get forward, so that looks good.

Igor Thiago

I thought Damsgaard might have slipped the ball to him rather than taking the shot himself for the second goal. You'd have to hope he would have scored if he had.

Igor Thiago

Maybe should have watched him playing for Brugge in his last season “weak “ was the last thing he was. Got booked most games I saw him play In.

At the moment he looks weak
Not saying this a defining trait
Just needs to be more aggressive as physically he evidently should be bullying defenders

Maybe he’s holding back and just concentrating on fitness? No point going all out in preseason especially for how long he has been out.

Igor Thiago

I thought he was poor last night, not sure he should start at forest if Schade is fit.
So we don't play our record signing oi the 1st match of the season, after missing almost of all last season!

You are deffo not a motivation coach are you........

Igor Thiago

He will get 15+ goals this season.

Not a chance. We barely created in open play last two friendlies. Our previous seasons we make lots of chances for our forward players. I see that happening less, but being better at the back too.

Thought Thiago was really poor, 2nd friendly in a row - match fitness or not, looking after the ball, being physical, anticipation. Totally off.

Igor Thiago

Whilst he hasn’t looked great in the friendlies, I saw enough last season to have high hopes for him.

My concern is that if he starts slowly the pressure and the ‘they are struggling without Wissa and Mbeumo’ narrative will grow quickly which will pile the pressure on him.

Club record signing, spent the best part of 13 months injured, written off after 2 friendlies. Really?

Igor Thiago

He is not playing against Tintin and Hercule Poirot now though….
That's harsh, especially considering they're both fictional characters. Club Brugge are playing in the CL, so clearly not as third rate as you think.

He needs Kev to his left and a new fast winger to his right , Kev played in the first game and Igor was getting service and support .I keep saying it but we really need Kev
