I wonder if there's any chance that Uwe would try to get Berahino back and try to tame the tyro? He's clearly very gifted if he can control his temperament. Another Balotelli scenario? Risk that's worth taking due to the guy's innate skill?

Older and wiser?? Depends what he was told when he went back and also who they appoint as new manager, would not mind him on a seasons loan providing he has sorted out his own issues

Really want to see Bidwell back next season. I thought he was outstanding both in attack and defence last year and I suspect he will keep getting better.

I think we should be looking to get another decent LB in the meantime as I would happily see Bidwell down the left wing, he had the best delivery in the squad last season.

Surprised Woodman hasn't gone yet!

We need to sort out the whole left side with potentially Bidwell, Woodman, Weston and McGinn not here next season...

I read albeit a few weeks ago that Everton hadn't yet decided whether or not to extend Jakes contract as he was 3 rd of 4th choice left back. Even if Baines is allowed to go I doubt Jake will suddenly be a serious contender for tge first team squad for some while.

Yeah with Baines and coleman both playing last year it's not like Bidwell was retained as cover then. So doubt even if Baines went he'd be retained. I think Coleman might step up to first choice then their current second choice gets a squad positon and they use some of the baines money for a third choice cover. Maybe.

Not saying he is any closer but it makes sense for Everton to see what happens with Baines first.

I would have though Luke Garbutt was 3rd choice LB for Everton, with Jake 4th.

Has Coleman ever played left-back? Distin was second choice last year from what I saw?

I thought he was right back that night. My memory is telling me he cut in from the right when he scored

Coleman is right sided. He played right back against us (Baines at left back) but can play wide in midfield

I suppose this will be pivotal in Everton's decision of what to do with him. If he plays a blinder then its fair to say that Bidwell will more than likely be retained. If he does fail to impress though, then they could just as easily decide to let him go...

If Baines goes as looks increasingly likely then I think we might well need to have a Plan B up our sleeves. I am please for JB that it looks like Everton want to have a good long look at him but am worried about the implications for us.

The Bidwell saga is in danger of getting a bit tedious. He was good last season - very good - but not great enough to disrupt a pre-seasn waiting for. If it's only going to be a loan anyway then I'm sure there are other options. I'd want a decision before the Germany trip, otherwise look elsewhere.

Surely last season's lengthy episode with Schlupp, where everyone seemed to wait forever for something that was never going to happen, was a lesson learned?

Unless you've inside info, the only disrupting that's going on is to the message board/supporters guesses. I doubt the management team are sitting anxiously waiting for texts/calls etc.

Whilst l agree with you,something's are sometimes worth waiting for.Bidwell could be a NO,loan or buy.2 of those 3 would do me.

Good things ARE worth waiting for but team shape is also key and I would agree that the back four will ned time to tell together. Maybe Redwood is also a possible solution too?
